I genuinely don't understand why anyone would vote for Trump

If you're American and voted for him or would have voted for him if you lived there can you please explain why?

Imagine you have an eleven year old little girl who was attacked and ended up pregnant.

Would you really, genuinely, sit here and think she should carry her baby to term? Really?

There was a ten year old in Ohio that this happened to. Actually she probably could have got the abortion in Ohio but the law was unclear.

What was NOT said was that it was an illegal immigrant that raped her, and it was her mother’s boyfriend (which is almost always the case).

So her scumbag mother wanted to quietly get her an abortion in a different state to protect her scumbag illegal boyfriend. Nobody reported this to authorities, it was only told to a journalist by (irrc) a staff member who was mad that this girl couldn’t get an abortion in Ohio (when she actually could). Only after it exploded into a national story did it come out that it was the mother’s illegal boyfriend and he’s now in jail and will be deported when he serves his time.

And people wonder why I voted Trump.

Surely to god he would be too old? And who is going to agree to him having a 3rd term anyway? I actually wish now he'd beaten Biden in 2020 and we would be done with the evil bastard, not having another 4 years of his bullshit!!

I was thinking that, but he may appoint JD Vance to succeed him if he gets too old. I’m not sure.

@BloodandGlitter

My position is simple. Women shouldn't be legally able to abort their children unless their lives are in danger.

I understand that there are horrific and difficult situations that arise, but it doesn't justify taking innocent human life in my opinion.

Are you also counting the Democrat populace in that who have turned a blind eye, covered up and protected/still protecting Bill Clinton at all costs? Or the long ass protection and cover up of staunch Democrat supporter Shaun "Diddy" Coombs?

Tbf I haven't said anything for or against the democrats but regardless of what they may or may not have done Harris wasn't found liable of sexual abuse. Therein lies the difference.

RingoJuice · 07/11/2024 05:11

I’m pro-choice but this:

It may even mean less unwanted children as people take better precautions with contraception and are less likely to have sex with someone they aren't committed to

is actually a good thing? We should encourage this anyway. Hopefully there would be a way to accomplish this without such a restrictive approach

HuckleberryBlackcurrant · 06/11/2024 21:07

@Namechangey23

I haven't adopted children. That doesn't disprove the pro life position in the least.

It's actually one of the weakest arguments pro choicers put forth. It's like saying, 'oh, so you're against homelessness, but how many homeless people have you taken in?'

Yes, I'm against killing babies in the womb, and yes, I'm for helping them out after they are hopefully born. I'm hoping in my lifetime I can help people out in a practical way, who find themselves facing the situation of expecting an unwanted child. Thanks for asking those clarifying questions.

Edited

You’re not against killing the women in your country who have been dying of sepsis due to hospitals not being legally allowed to perform ‘abortions’. It just happened to a woman in Texas - she died with her mother on a hospital bed vomiting blood because she wasn’t allowed healthcare during a miscarriage. You’d literally value lifeless tissue over a woman’s life.

It’s Complicated but essentially 18m people less voted in this election than the last one.

It is not true that it was a “record turnout”. Donny actually lost 3 million voters and the democrats failed to bring back 15million voters, which I can only hypothesize is in part due to inflation (news flash: presidents don’t really have control over prices) and Gaza. A lot of “progressives” with their panties in a bunch decided to die on that hills as if Trump won’t bomb the living hell out of the Arabs come here soon.

impo, no amount of tax cuts would be incentive enough for me to vote for a convicted felon, ultimately putting marginalized lives in danger. None.

Oh come on, there's been plenty of allegations! Prince Andrew has been pilloried but the likes of Trump and Clinton have been glossed over! The truth needs to emerge!

The truth will definitely emerge, I’m just always surprised that people think Trump went to the island and forget Epstein was arrested under a Trump presidency 🤷

XChrome · 07/11/2024 01:56

Happyinarcon · 07/11/2024 01:21

I don’t understand where the Epstein island accusations are coming from. Trump is not on the flight logs to the island, the Clintons are. Epstein was arrested during Trumps time as president.
I don’t have a pony in this race but I am confused with this type of misinformation.

Donald Trump appears to have flown on Jeffrey Epstein’s private jets six more times than was previously known, according to flight logs released as evidence in Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial.

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/crime/article256740662.html

Both Trump and Clinton are disgusting perverts who belong in prison.

MonkeyToHeaven · 06/11/2024 22:45

20% of Americans are functionally illiterate, 54% have a reading age below grade 6.

They think Trump, the man who managed to hike up the National debt after inheriting a booming economy (even before Covid) and whose current plans if implemented will undoubtedly raise the cost of goods & services, is going to leave them better off with tax cuts.

All they have to do is sacrifice some environmental protections, roll back some personal liberties and believe.

Sound familiar?

Yep. That's exactly how it is. The self-delusion is off the chain.

Zapx · 07/11/2024 01:43

In my opinion I really think the famous 1992 quote applies here - “It's the economy, stupid”. Harris just didn’t talk enough (at all?) about how she was going to improve the day to day financial situation of a lot of Americans. Do I think 70 million people think Trump is a great guy? No! They were, however, prepared to vote for someone that they didn’t like, because they ultimately think he’ll be better for THEM.

Decencydiedtoday · 07/11/2024 01:37

Original sin. Most people are awful unless educated to actually care about others and brought up by decent people. Trump voters are neither. HtH

The truth won't come out. As much as it would bury Trump, it would destroy the Democrats, especially the Clinton's too much. Therefore it's kept quiet.

Willyoujustbequiet · 06/11/2024 19:27

In summary there are a lot of racist, misogynistic Americans who are happy to turn a blind eye to felony and support sexual abusers.

Some not very nice people really.

The economy and immigration.

That is what made people vote for him. Many didn't like him but I'm paying more for food, electricity, gas to heat my home, and gas to run our car. All Biden said was everything is ok but it isn't.

How can anyone justify their voting for a man who had a quite close relationship with known paedophiles and spent a lot of time on their island, has been accused of raping children and women, who has affairs, mocked a disabled man, thinks women who have abortions should be punished even if they're rape victims.
I don't understand how anyone can push this into the backs of their minds and ignore it because trans people, the economy and immigration are much more important?

‘If I were a betting person I'd put a lot of money on the Dems for 2028.’

Not if Trump gets a third term. Whilst that isn’t yet possible, as there’s a 2-term limit, I think he will try and make it happen. No doubt he’ll try and use his big election victory to his advantage and to claim he has a solid mandate to secure a third term. I am of course being a bit over-the-top in imagining that, but I think it’s likely.

Women should absolutely have body autonomy!

I'm pro choice. But if all lives are equal. How can it be OK to kill one life to save another? I never get that argument. What about women who will have back alley abortions and are it doesn't work, can they then get an abortion even if they have "murdered". Should they go to jail?

From everything I've seen on Twitter, this seems to be one of the most accurate analyses, like it or not. And it's happening all across Europe.

For a cohort who call the opposition uneducated and stupid, the Liberal left are very slow at understanding the realities of elections. The same is happening in Europe but they think the argument will be won by labelling everyone far right, closing all debate, cancelling people who are not with them, and driving ideological change without societal consensus. It's literally never worked in history and it won't again.

That is a major - and inaccurate - stereotype. It’s unfortunately also mostly used by right wing politicians - such as Trump - to dismiss the concerns of people who don’t think like they do.

Also, there are many people who identify as left wing and who are well informed, open-minded and willing to listen to points of view from other political perspectives. I count myself among that group. I try really, really hard to stay open-minded. It’s really hard and I’m not brilliant at it, but I really try.

VeryQuaintIrene · 06/11/2024 20:14

The economy was far and away the most important thing and people blamed the most recent administration for it (as was probably the case in 2020). Never mind that there was a pandemic and the expensive effects of climate change. People don't think in a very joined-up way when their wallets are hurting badly. I get it, sort of, but if they think they are likely to be better off under Trump et al, it's going to be a rude awakening. If I were a betting person I'd put a lot of money on the Dems for 2028.

Problem is the alternative is racism and inequality. So saying ‘it’s happened before, it’ll happen again’ is basically saying ‘bring on the Nazis’

Horrendous.

In summary:

People have voted for Trump because they are struggling with the cost of living and are more interested in feeding their families than a war thousands of miles away. Trump will end aid to Ukraine and he’ll want his equipment back. Immigration is a huge issue with many high profile horrific crimes being committed by illegal migrants.

Kamala was more interested in providing gender reassignment surgery for prisoners and letting migrants cross the border in a free for all.

Well this is bullshit. Good to see Trumps way of reporting news is distilling to his supporters.

Man alive, I never in my life felt thankful for BoJo, but at least he just had parties and gave his friends cushty deals during covid. Trump suggested that injecting bleach could cure it.

Regardless of political leaning, injected bleach over gender reassignment: one’s going to kill far more than the other. He’s a dangerous man.
