Where is Kamala?

Just saw this post on X, and I tend to agree...

"Kamala lost as she campaigned - a coward who couldn't face the media, couldn't handle the pressure. Didn't even have the character required to concede on election night. Went home to sulk. The opposite of presidential material."

Really and truly was there nobody with any substance the Democrats could have put forward. What on earth did they expect. The bar was so low.

It looked more like a guided tour to me, but we won't see eye to eye on that.

I went on a guided tour round Cliveden. We definitely didn't break any windows, go into private rooms and nick stuff. Did I fail to get the full experience?

Maggiethecat · 07/11/2024 13:34

It’s remarkable how bias makes us lose a sense of reasonableness.

The Jan 6 riots become a guided tour, Kamala and her team being circumspect about the results and deciding when right to concede becomes her lacking the character to concede on election night, forgetting that Trump has never conceded, Trump and team suggesting voter fraud in the run up to this election but happy to accept that he won this time and no further mention of irregularities and put that in the context of his/supporters reaction to the last election results.

I understand people voting on issues that matter to them but it’s the blind support that some have that I can’t get my head round.

I'm absolutely genuinely amazed that somebody could even dream up a reframe like this 😂Guided tour! 😂😂😂Amazing!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Glad you're enjoying that 😂

And this is why social media is toxic. Critical thinking seems to no longer be a thing.

Very much with you on admiring neither, Jumpingthruhoops, and you may indeed be waiting a long time for the lack of insults

Right now it reminds me of a school playground, with "He did it first miss!!" Sad

We're talking semantics of nastiness and comparison is intrinsic in that. Trump can out-nasty anyone except perhaps Putin.

Seriously? Just have a little think about what the scumbag who has won did four years ago - invite a riot which led to deaths.

Taking time to compose a response is fine. Encouraging a bunch of morons to storm the Capitol was not.

It looked more like a guided tour to me, but we won't see eye to eye on that.

Not a Trump supporter. Nor am I a Kamala supporter. Both those things can be true at the same time.

But, on your point, I long for the day that both sides can have an adult conversation without resorting to insults. I suspect I'll be waiting a long time...

The difficulty anyone has in making a concession speech is that they will always be judged against John McCain in 2008, and generally find it very difficult to compare

It was an utter masterpiece wasn't it? Smile

For anyone unfamiliar, here it is: https://www.npr.org/2008/11/05/96631784/transcript-of-john-mccains-concession-speech

They will each have their reasons. Have you asked them?

What an intelligent response.

LadyGabriella · 07/11/2024 11:45

Wasn’t sure about the starry night sky analogy either, allot of stars are millions of light years away.

Jumpingthruhoops · 07/11/2024 11:39

BotanicalGreen · 07/11/2024 11:09

But the two are inextricably linked. To believe that someone is going to deliver the right policies for your future, you have to be able to trust them. How can anyone trust that man?

Has anyone seen the vanity fair new cover.

It's listing all of Donald Trumps crimes.

Jumpingthruhoops · 07/11/2024 11:02

Oh they are and everybody knows that. But I'm assuming his voters look beyond the personality and vote for the policies which, for whatever reason, they believe will benefit their lives in America.

I mean, think about it: why would someone vote for theirs and their kids futures to be shit? They just wouldn't.

His lies, insults and sheer batshittery are in a league of their own.

Keep seeing Harris being criticised for being slow to concede.

Trump NEVER conceded the election he lost! His thugs stormed the Capitol!

But of course you can't use reasonable logic with idiots

Your threshold for listening to insults must be high if you are a Trump supporter.

Why always insults!? Really is baffling.

And boring. 😴

Not at all, I am an intelligent, well-educated professional who is disgusted to see this racist, misognyistic, tango'ed, unintelligent narcissist back in power! That wanker has his finger on the nuclear button!!!

You're the poor wee ignorant soul!

It's nothing to do with being a weak candidate

Trump lost in the last election didn't he.

Sure, if you say so... 🤔
