@Tiedyesquad did you have any concerns about the Democrats' plans/record?

"While the rest of us have been fretting about recycling and using paper straws, a new study shows that the super-wealthy have been polluting more than ever."

Climate change is an existential threat that requires international co-operation and really well thought through legislation.

Which nobody's going to get from a Trump administration.

The liberal elite don't practice what they preach. Everyone is sick of them.

Tiedyesquad · 07/11/2024 20:26

Yeah I appreciate that @AccidentallyWesAnderson and I wasn't having a go at you.

I honestly don't know how to create caucuses and coalitions around baskets of values now, to allows voters to feel like they are in groups who are voting for a shared informed vision of the world. The fault lines seem to go through all traditional groupings.

Sometimes I think we have been given tne keys to a a globalised world with the power to inform global-level threats, but fundamentally we have not passed the driving test to drive it. We have the blinkered, overly personal, overly superstitious vision of medieval villagers. We don't see how complexity and risk works or understand how they apply to us.

I'm not calling Trump voters stupid. I think all of us simply don't have the thinking skills to vote in our own long term best interests in a world as complex as this one is.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/11/2024 20:26

The chances of women being assaulted by a man in a single sex space such as a women's toilet are much higher than the chances of being assaulted by a trans woman.

Statistic? It would be recorded that a "woman" did it. Males with a gender identity of "woman" pose the same amount of risk to women as any other male.

Is being against assisted dying "extremist" now? God help us (I'm an atheist)

Apparently dying (suffocating whilst anestheia makes you unable to move) and for a diagnosis like diabetes, then having your organs harvested, is just a really nice gift to give others.

I have high levels of contempt for men who push boundaries and go into spaces and take places in sports where they have no right to be.

I have high levels of contempt who think it’s ok to push this ideology into vulnerable children and young adults and put them on a pathway to making horrific irreversible medical decisions.

I have high levels of contempt for people like you who cheerlead this.

You haven’t addressed any of my points in any way that shows you understand even the basic of what I’m saying.

A female has more chance of being assaulted by a male. Females cannot tell which ones are the bad ones from the good ones. This risk doesn’t change because a man presents in such a way that he thinks makes him a woman, like a dress or make up. Single
sex provisions exists for a reason. It’s called safeguarding. A bit like statistically the chances if you being burgled is tiny, but people still lock their doors and have ring doorbells.

I already referenced a trans woman without mentioning criminality and/or mental illness. You literally have nothing but ‘you all hate trans people’. Address the sports, prisons and rape crisis centres questions then?

Again it’s men. MEN. Boundary pushing men.

Try harder.

The chances of women being assaulted by a man in a single sex space such as a women's toilet are much higher than the chances of being assaulted by a trans woman.

I have lived in two different large cities as an adult, socialising in pubs, night clubs and gay bars and I have never met a trans person, never mind being threatened or assaulted by one. I've had many narrow escapes from men.

I think women's single sex spaces should be protected but the hatred and prejudice towards trans people is disgusting. It feels like the McCarthyism of the 1950s with the 'reds under the beds' scare, completely out of proportion to the reality.

ItIsBeginingToLookLike · 07/11/2024 20:23

I don't like Trump either, he was just better than Harris.

This being a primarily U.K. website, very few of us here actually had to make the difficult choice of which of the two evils to vote for, I think @Tiedyesquad

Said it better than me.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 07/11/2024 20:21

Tiedyesquad · 07/11/2024 20:18

But you can think all this, and still mot vote Trump. You should recognise that a vote for Trump may look on the surface like it rolls the clock back to a "men are men women are women" world. But Trumpists are not going to stop those aspects of trans rights which are secretly driven by the men's rights movement. They don't care about women's spaces. They ARE the men's rights movement, they are a different part of it!

You have been sold down the river if you put gender critical thinking together with the rest of Trump's disgusting shit-filled package of values.

I’m not a Trump supporter. He’s no good for women anywhere. I was addressing the Trans viewpoint. The dems are very much let men participate in women’s sports and this is clearly one aspect that gives/gave a hand to the Republicans. But yeah, Trump is vile.

Well the fact that you are posting links to the Libs of Tiktok Twitter page as you obviously agree with their views, proves that it is a right-wing platform to spread the sort of anti-LGBTQ+ propaganda that you've been spouting all over this thread, along with your extremist views on abortion and assisted dying.

You think it's extreme that most of Americans voted against abortion being available, where they don't want it to be? You think it's extreme to speak about the reality of assistance suicide?

Tiedyesquad · 07/11/2024 20:18

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 07/11/2024 16:42

If you're tired of 'gender mania' stop fucking obsessing over it. Transgender people make up about 0.5% of the population. If you weren't constantly trying to legislate them out of existence and going on gender critical rants about them you'd forget they exist. I suspect you've never met a transgender person. But you feel horribly oppressed by their existence and by the thought of them having any rights to live their life the way you would want to live yours - doing what's best for yourself and leaving other people the fuck alone.

Oh FFS! This BS. When you drill down and actually engage your brain you'll realise no one really cares about trans people. They care about men taking spaces and winning in women's sports aka fairness, they care about retaining their hard fought for single sex spaces, in prisons, in changing rooms, in rape crisis centres, all places MEN shouldn't be in beside them. It's MEN that are the problem, not trans. Does any gender critical person ever mention trans men? No, because they don't carry the same risk statistically, as they are female. If they, as male identifying, want to enter male sports and prisons crack on!

They care about not being gaslighted into believing something that isn't true - a trans woman standing in front of you isn't an actual woman no matter how loud people scream and shout. People are being hounded out of jobs for stating biological fact.

No one says they don't exist, they can wear whatever they want, call themselves whatever they want, but no one else has to go along with it if they don't want to, like any other ideology. And FYI - they currently have the same rights as anyone else! They don't get to have additional rights that oppress women seeing as you want to talk about oppression.

It's a men's rights movement all day long. And don't get me started on transing children. Rachel Levine anyone?

Edited

@AngsanaFlower "I honestly don’t believe Putin would’ve invaded Ukraine, or be canoodling with Korea if Trump had been in power."

This is a completely deranged comment.

Trump has signalled REPEATEDLY that he's an isolationist who wouldn't take the US into a war that didn't directly impact on US interests.

Just because Trump says 'No wars would have been started if I'd been in power' it doesn't make it true.

"I honestly don’t believe Putin would’ve invaded Ukraine, or be canoodling with Korea if Trump had been in power."

I don't think that the strong man approach would have prevented anything, but quite a lot happened between 2020 (when Trump went out) and 2022, and it is quite possible that if those things had not happened, Feb 2022 would not have happened.

Though quite a lot also happened between 2014 and 2020 which led eventually to what happened in 2022, but we would have to look back at policy decisions taken by Trump between 2016 and 2020 (that is, real ones rather than rumours) to form a view. Unless there are any genuine experts here, who can link sources to actual decisions rather than editorial comment. I do remember funding stopped to certain groups in 2018 as a result of senate decisions.

In relation to Korea, I think that that is a different point. And I am not sure what happened exactly in relation to the Korean crisis which arose under Trump, which we were all worried about at the time, but to be fair, it did indeed fizzle out.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/11/2024 20:17

Wikipedia has very little credibility on contentious political issues, its extremely biased.

ItIsBeginingToLookLike · 07/11/2024 20:15

😆 you reference Wiki, so I showed you that wiki can be edited to show anything.

I am sorry that you struggle with comprehension, you sound rude as if it's someone else's fault.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/11/2024 20:15

What does that even mean?

It means that the Libs of TikTok Twitter account reposts content that extremist trans rights or other "social justice" activists have themselves posted on social media that many people who do not share their views find shocking or amusing, mostly the latter. They have as much or as little political credibility as many other social media commentators on all sides.

As pp said, perhaps the people you are concerned about should be less quick to post batshit stuff on the internet for attention?

XChrome · 07/11/2024 20:12

@LondonPapa

Like it or not, he was a high desirable prize for women to land. Still is.

I think you may need glasses love.

What I am is a guy who has experienced the kind of locker room talk Trump has been accused of, along with all the previously consensual encounters turning into money grabs due to him running for and / or becoming president.

You experienced a bunch of women trying to get money from you by falsely accusing you of assault, because you ran for President?
Make this sentence make sense, please.
Anybody who is accused by multiple people of assault is most likely actually guilty of assault of at least some of them. Law of probability.

You clearly have huge contempt for transgender people. You may not realise that this message comes across loud and clear from your posts. You think the way they think about themselves is simply wrong, and they should think about themselves and see themselves differently.

"You do more harm to trans people than you think by ignoring women and their valid safeguarding concerns."

The 'valid safeguarding concern' of being being assaulted in a toilet by a predatory transwoman, the sort of person who makes up a minuscule percentage of a minuscule percentage of people in this country who are transgender women? Statistically what's the likelihood? I know it's a huge issue IN YOUR HEAD, but it's not really a huge threat to women is it - statistically.

"You do more harm to trans people"

You do more harm to trans people by being unable to reference them without constantly talking about criminality and mental illness. You remind me of the many far right posters on X who can't hear the word 'Muslim' or 'Asian' without needing to talk about grooming gangs.

Find it hard to believe you're an adult.

Not everyone believes in your ideology. I don't believe gender identity is innate. I see "gender" as simply a regressive social construct based on sex stereotypes. I'm only interested in a person's biological sex, and then only when I need to be. A "trans woman" is a male person who has a belief (that I don't share) that they are somehow aligned with being female.

Stop inventing nonsense. I already said no one hates trans people but it is a lie yes. Humans cant be the opposite sex. Their identify relies on old sexist stereotypes and 'dress'.

You really have nothing except to repeat this mantra. You do more harm to trans people than you think by ignoring women and their valid safeguarding concerns.
