Goodbye to any hope of peace and safety for the world, or saving the climate, women’s rights and ending racism.
Poor Ukraine will be the first casualty.
Putin will be breaking out the vodka and caviar today.

Don't be ridiculous how bad was it last time?

With Republicans forming the majority of both the Senate, the House of Representative and the Presidency, this will be an absolute shit show with nothing to stop Trump's worst excesses

Momtotwokids · 06/11/2024 20:44

Did you all forget Bill Clinton and things he did?

Momtotwokids · 06/11/2024 20:43

Don't you have enough to worry about in your country? Biden wasn't good, doubt Trump will be any worse. And for the love of God the federal government doesn't have control over abortion but the 50 states.

Project 2025 represents a transformative initiative with a vision for reshaping policy, technology, and national security landscapes.

why is that bad ?

Oh, you read their blurb! You could at least read a wiki page to try and grasp the ramifications of it. It is horrifying.

But then so is having a convicted felon, rapist, sexual abuser of multiple women and minors, inciter of insurrection, who despises and mocks his followers, who supports a theocracy for his own personal gain, who has said under him there will be no more elections, and who has teamed up with several other billionaires and dictators, currently raping the world, as the leader of the free world.

Democracy is broken. It’s probably always been broken, but it’s moving further and further away from what it’s meant to be.

When people vote for someone who is incompetent and doesn’t have their best interests at heart, because they are swayed by manipulative campaigning tactics, then I’m not sure that the power is really in the hands of the people.

Does anyone have a breakdown of votes by age? Hoping the younger generation might be slightly better at critically evaluating information.

It was Gen X and Z that showed up for Trump… he also showed gains with Women.

Who voted for Trump? The Republican’s supporters by age, sex and race

The real estate magnate made decisive gains among Latinos, women and voters without a college degree

As well as Americans I feel bad for Ukraine, which he'll hand over to Putin, and Taiwan, as he's not going to even try to stop China invading.

I worry where Putin will go next.

Maybe it’s not the job of the US to police the world?

Less US interference everywhere might be a good thing. If we are worried about Putin then you know, maybe Europe should just pay for its own military.

The EU still has far more people and money than Russia does. Russia should be no match but if it is then it’s because our governments have dropped the ball by relying on the US.

NotOneOfTheInCrowd · 06/11/2024 16:38

Ukraine isn’t black and white.

Neither is Israel/gaza.

The reality is that the only reason why Ukraine and Russia are still at war is because we and the US are so involved. I can’t abide Trump but the truth is that Ukraine has to end somewhere.

The only reason why we don’t want it to is because of Russia and where they’ll go next.

You mean apart from the day an armed mob stormed the capitol and tried to murder the VP for doing his job?

Easy to sacrifice other’s sons while strutting around playing the hero.
Reuters too are saying how he’s scratching around for men to fight for his cause- The Ukrainian men don’t want to die for his cause .

Maybe you could do his job. He is just strutting around so should be easy peasy.

Veryoldandtired · 06/11/2024 13:45

The question is more how screwed are we considering that almost all Labour MPs had a go at Donald Trump at some point including Starmer. That would be one awkward congratulations’ phone call… or will it?
Also, Trump’s previous administration worsened relationship with Russia by sanctioning the hell out of it and changing Nuclear treaty. Sooo… I think it’s a bit simplistic to think that Trump’s got Kremlin interests at heart. In fact, I think people watched too many old American movies and believe that the Ruskies are evil when in the actual fact the biggest problem is kind of the elephant in the room…

Who would be president if he was out fighting do you think? Do you think Starmer or Charles would fight if there was a war in the UK?

Watch the many you tube videos about it.
Vanloads of Ukrainian men turfed roughly out of smuggler’s vehicles- the fake medical exemptions for $4,000 ( USD )

Zelensky should fight. Not send other people’s sons to fight.
The borders with Romania are patrolled and there is widespread corruption.

Men wanting to join their wives and children in Germany and U.K.

Masses of Ukrainian men are paying to escape their Country- ( wealthy ones) to avoid draft
Only the poor remain, who cannot afford bribes and fake medical cards 💳.

The opinion is Zelensky is safe while other people’s sons are sacrificed.

It certainly adds balance with Kier over here.

I am hoping he creates peace which Biden certainly didn't achieve. It has been a complete shitshow worldwide with him at the wheel.
