To ask if anyone really knows you?

Just that?
I don’t think anyone in my life knows me, not at all, not even the tiniest bit. I can’t decide if it’s comforting or scary that I can have had people in my life for 30 years of more as friends or family and still feel they don’t know me. Facts about me - yes. But they don’t actually know me, I feel completely removed from everyone most of the time.
Maybe I don’t really know anyone else either.

Is that how everyone is?

I think people can always surprise us, even when we think we know them. I have no idea how other people see me, to be honest.

I think my closest friends and husband know me pretty well. I think we all have an inner life and thoughts that we don't share with anyone though. I'm not an extrovert and I'm quite a private person so a lot of what I think about goes unsaid - I probably live inside my own head a bit too much!

Isn't there a quote or something that states everyone has 3 masks/personalities etc
The first you show to the world.
The second you show to those close to you, friends and family.
And the third you never show anyone, only you know it as its the truest version of yourself.
This makes sense to me.

Most people i interact with regularly (family & colleagues, even those I considered friends) know my birthday, that I have two children and that I'm incredibly forgetful but that's roughly it

Only my partner really knows me, my likes, dislikes, my behaviours, quirks, fears and darkest secrets.

I think this is normal
everyone has inner (sometimes weird) thoughts - they won’t be know to anyone else

Absolutely nobody, not fully, no. I would hate anyone to though. That belongs only to me.

I don’t think anyone knows me 100% inside out. I wouldn’t like that though. My mum and my sister and my two or three closest friends know the most important bits of me though.
