These children are about 8-13 years old. Some are siblings. They are running in the middle of the cul de sac.

What age should children stop screaming iyho?

What do you mean by running around screaming? How often? How long does it go on for? Who have you spoken with before now about it?

Surely it’s nice they’re outside in playing together instead of being stuck in front of the tv?

Is that the only two options available?

Playing even loud is fine. Screaming not. Parents need to tell them how to behave.
I've blocked friends of my youngest from playing on the x box for the senseless Screaming that fills the house. I told the parents why and that ill unblock them when my whole family doesn't have to hear them screeching. It's unbareable especially if you have sensory issues which I do.
I don't care about loud playing and laughing. It's normal and kids should do it but no need at all for screeching.

If we screamed, we were told to get back indoors, but now it seems that some parents let their dc do this and it’s fine, regardless of how much it disturbs the neighbours. Drove me nuts, thank god the dc two doors down are now adults!

Better than sat indoors on screens.

PinkiOcelot · 03/11/2024 14:24

I’d rather have that than the fucking barking dog that I have to listen to all day every day.

Lifeglowup · 03/11/2024 14:23

I agree the screaming isn’t accepting but children running around and making nosie in the middle of the day is normal.

curtaintwitcher78 · 03/11/2024 14:21

Screaming is not normal. Loud playing is fine. It doesn't grate like that shrill, blood-curdling screaming that some parents refuse to shush.

Well in my opinion I don't think it's acceptable for children of any age to run round screaming when they are supposedly playing. The children do it round where I live when they are playing in the street. Predominantly the girls.

It worries me because they are doing it for no reason. So if anything awful did happen- they had an accident or a stranger tried to abduct them or someone really hurt them etc and they screamed no one would take a blind bit of notice. They would think it was just them playing.
