How are you today? Did the new sleeping pills do the trick despite making you feel a bit strange?!

Oh proper raspberries bought from a farm are the best 😍. Or pick your own.

😂at your youngest picking the human centipede. Normally DS would also choose something less, er, appropriate (he watched Saltburn at one sleepover 😳) so I was surprised!

I got a stripey jumper, plain white shirt (not sure why as I don't iron and get covered in dog hair, sticky finger prints etc 😂but have an idea of a crisp white shirt looking lovely) and a purple cardigan as it's just a beautiful colour in real life, this one: https://www.fatface.com/style/su284599/b54790#b54790. I often send things back so we'll see!

I feel quite drowsy today tbh , definitely going to have a night without them tonight. Once I’m in my house I am going to what into a proper routine at night time so I can be settled at a decent hour and sleep and wake up at same time every day .
The farm shop was lovely it was always so busy though, I used to buy the pea pods in a bag and eat them from the bag. I did once make a Sunday roast and bought a bag of pea pods for the peas . Took me 2 hours to get them all into the pan. I didn’t try that ever again!
My eldest woke my youngest up once in the middle of the night to watch tv with him. I think eldest was 12 and youngest 7 at the time . Next day my youngest said ‘mam we watched human centipede’ last night’ I was mortified!
Oh that cardigan is absolutely gorgeous , I love that colour . I call it fuchsia purple. Your going to look great in that xx

I haven’t worn it yet! You know the Taylor Swift Eras tour is on Disney! She’s updated the concert since it came out, as it’s been going on for so long and I think a new one has been filmed.

Omg is it really? Oh I can’t wait to watch that . Thank you for letting me know . Have you watched it?xx

Well done for sorting out internet and to get Disney for four months is fab. Once you get a sofa you can snuggle up on it with your son and watch a film, all cozy in your own home with no one telling you what to do.
Yes it’s weird that stompy Pete managed to get the same room above you. Hope he didn’t keep you awake all night. 💐

Hi @AdmittowearingCrocs , What have you been up-to today?
Does it sound like a good deal? I thought it was a good deal but I wasn’t sure what was good and what wasn’t but I’m happy with it .
Awww that sounds like absolute bliss I really can’t wait to snuggle with my children watching a film.
Stompy Pete seems to be more active in the mornings and when he gets back from work , he must have a stressful job 🤷‍♀️xx

I'm having a lazy day, just put a squash in the oven to make soup later
Wonder if any of us will get snow next week?? Xx

Hi @Munchyseeds2 , How’s your Friday going?
I didn’t get on great with the sleeping tablets tbh I hated the feeling they gave me, everything was wavy even my pillows and it took me ages to get to sleep and when I woke up I felt really drowsy and I’ve felt it all day . Like I’m here but not with it so I’m not going to take them tonight .
Ohhh that soup sounds like it’ll be amazing , I’ve never actually made squash soup before. Would you mind one day giving me the recipe on how to do it please @Munchyseeds2 ?xx

Thanks for saying that. I miss her so much and it breaks my heart to think about what she must have gone through. How her poor Mum survived I don't know. The guy was really disturbed and had a very long history but nobody knew that.

Thanks for the welcome fellow Spoonies. Can I just say how heartwarming it is to see a MN thread that's full of love, hope and solidarity. I've seen a few where there's been a few awful posts that jump on someone who needs help and victim blames. Thank goodness that Laura has some kind genuine people who are cheering her on.

I was really saddened by hearing about her real father. Addiction is such a horrible thing and it hurts everyone around it. As a child your parents are your world and you want their approval and affection. Its especially hard to have a glimpse of it, only to see it snatched away. It's human nature to think that maybe if I was just a bit better, then it wouldn't have happened etc. My cousin had parents who were addicted to drugs and they had very few times where it showed that they thought about him or did something nice. He would live for those moments but suffered the majority of the rest. It's really traumatic and shattered his belief in himself.

It's impressive that Laura has been able to stop it from ruining her ability to be a loving parent to her children. Sadly it often does reoccur in the next generation. My cousin struggled with it. He equated giving money as love, because that was the only thing he saw from his parents. It took him a fair while to break the cycle and learn to be present for his kids.

Hi again @BeNavyCrab , I’m so sorry to hear about your friend too. It truly is awful what some women go through and that they have no help until it’s too late. Sending you a big hug ❤️
It’s a lovely thread isn’t it @BeNavyCrab , I have read some threads and it really makes me feel so grateful that everybody has been so supportive . And that I’ve found so many lovely people who I know class as friends . I have gained so much from you all and I will carry you all in my heart for the rest of my time .
I don’t have many memories of my real father tbh, not good ones anyway. I don’t think there was much help back then then there is now with addiction. I remember not having much food and the screaming and I remember my father giving me a drink of his beer when I was 4 which was in a glass bottle and a wasp was in the neck of the bottle and I swallowed it and had to go to hospital because I swelled up everywhere and now I’m allergic to wasps. And years later after my mum got rid of him I was working in the butchers and it had these huge open doors and my fathers father walked past drunk as a skunk and started shouting at my mum who was also working that day and screaming the most awful things at her and I didn’t know what to do so I got an egg and launched it at him to make him stop and the egg splattered right in his eye all over his face and I felt bad for ages after that but he did walk away after that so it worked in a way xx

My youngest loves raspberries too, in my old village where I used to live there was a strawberry farm and they sold huge punnets of raspberries. You did need a bank loan to buy them but they was lovely.
I love that your DS chose The Christmas Chronicles as their choice of film for Halloween. My youngest would have picked something like ‘The human Centipede’ 😂
Ohhh what did you get with your fat face voucher? I love when you see something you like and you wait and then get it in the sales xx

Thank you @nornironlady and @Imbluedalale on my MN username! I love that song and also like raspberries and berets 😄 although raspberries are quite expensive and DD just tends to eat the whole thing in one go.

Hi @PeggyMitchellsCameo , I was also wondering if you're OK (hope you are!). Nice to "see" you again.

@Meanwhile33 I'm jealous that you tried the perfume! I think I need to find out where the nearest big M&S to DPs house is 😆. Glad it was lovely and lasted well. That's a lovely sentiment about thinking of women supporting women and of Laura safe in her new home, I love that.

@spoonfulofmustard hope you're feeling a bit better. Your weekend of hunkering down sounds really lovely. I love a bad Christmas film! My DS had a sleepover on halloween and I asked him what they wanted (slightly anxious that it might have been too scary) and they had watched The Christmas Chronicles 😂.

I had a fat face voucher for ages and had a quick look online yesterday and managed to buy 3 lovely things I'd seen in the shop now in the sale so was super happy with that.

Hello to all you lovely Spoonies! Friday is finally here.
@BeNavyCrab Welcome to the thread - you speak wise words of caution.
@Imbluedalale I was thinking about you walking past Subway on my way to the office this morning. It will always remind me of you now I bet.
As for @RaspberryBeretxx doesn't everyone sing this to themselves a la Prince every time her name pops up....or is that just me.....
Roll on noon when the working week is done! Have a great Friday 😁

Hi @nornironlady , I’ve got that song in my head now , I can’t remember the words but they go ‘it’s Friday’ and start dancing. 🕺
Does your subway smell too? I’m just not a fan I’m afraid I can’t put my finger on the smell but it’s like hot cheese , gherkins and onion . It’s a no from me 😂.
I hope you’ve enjoyed your afternoon , what’s on the menu tonight for tea?xx

Morning everyone 👋

Massive well done on getting the internet sorted Laura, that sounds a good deal and so handy to have 4 months no payments and Disney plus!

I do think your dc will come round and realise your exs true nature. I hope it’s soon but they may be in a bit of a fog of trying to please him. Once they experience your new house, it’ll feel like home because you’re there💕💕.

im so horrified by him taking your favourite things away from you as some kind of bizarre sport. It’s just evil and so pointless. I hope you get plenty of raspberry tiptree jam in your new place. And just gradually figure out all the things you like and get them all back with a load of new ones on top. Also horrified and so sad about your real dad’s behaviour. I’m so sorry for all youve been through.

but just wanted to say 3 MORE SLEEPS (that’s right isn’t it?!) xx

I have a work from home day then DPs for the weekend with DD. I think we are going to an afternoon tea for somewhere he works on Saturday so that should be a free afternoon out at least 😁.

Hi @RaspberryBeretxx , Happy Friday . Oh your weekend sounds like it’s going to be amazing , I love afternoon tea . Make sure you take a pic for all us spoonies.
I thought it was a good deal on the internet too, there was a lot that didn’t do my postcode not sure if it’s because it’s a new area but Virgin did and I love Disney channel too so I’m pleased with that.
I think deep down is what’s happened is that I’ve had such a terrible 6 weeks with being homeless and then having a breakdown and having to go to the crisis house to then being homeless again so I’m so very excited to getting a house and I was expecting my children to share that excitement but to them they’ve been warm and safe and loved the whole time whilst I’ve been going through that so I need to realise that they are not going to share that same excitement as me . And that it’s going to be a big change for them but hopefully once they see our new home and their bedrooms I’m hoping they will start to come round .
When I do my first food shop I’m definitely going to get some raspberry tiptree jam and for my first breakfast there that’s what I’ll be having on toast.
That’s one of the reasons I kept what was happening away from my mum and step dad because my mum has already been through so much trauma in her life and I didn’t want to upset her or bring back any bad memories. I don’t like to talk about my ex with my parents too much but my mum said yesterday she didn’t realise until now how manipulative ex is , I didn’t ask her to explain but I think she means from him texting and ringing them he must have said things that’s made her realise and he also pretended he didn’t know where I was but he did as my sister told him. I think he did that to make sure nobody could help or support me .
3 MORE SLEEPS! @RaspberryBeretxx can you believe it ? xx

I'm quite excited for you actually. You have a lovely new place and you get to choose what to put in it. I think that your kids will enjoy helping you do it too. There's lots of enjoyment in starting afresh and making it the way you like it, just need to pace it so you don't run out of money. It's worth asking around because there's different schemes where you can get things cheaper or even free. In our area there's a Facebook page where people put things that still have plenty of life in them and they want it to go to someone who wants it, rather than landfill. There's also bargains to be found at charity shops. I understand that getting out is very difficult for you at the moment. I'm severely disabled and in a wheelchair myself. So that adds complications, but some charities do deliver in the local area.

Hi @BeNavyCrab , How are you today?
Thank you very much for joining my thread.
I really can’t believe time moving in date is so near now, I have to pinch myself that’s it’s real. This will be my last weekend in the hotel . No more fast food, no more stompy Pete , no more knicker washing in sink but most of all I’m closer than I have ever been to getting my children back.
I will definitely have to pace it and it will probably take me about a year or so to get everything I need but that’s ok and it will make whatever I get more worthwhile because I will know it’s mine and that I’ve bought it .
I don’t have Facebook but I’ve been looking on gumtree and next week I’m going to some charity shops that do furniture and see what I can find xx

Ive managed to get internet sorted and you get the Disney channel free with it . The 4 months is free and then after it goes to £24. They can’t come until next Friday but that will be ok won’t have to wait too long . I’m baffling myself this afternoon and nearly went to reception and asked , how’s stompy Pete got the exact same as last week?
Oh when you it like that I makes more excited xx
