I’ll start.

That having a one syllable first name and surname is an absolute no no.

OP posts:
FelixtheAardvark · 02/11/2024 15:19

That "tonsil stones" had a name.

tilypu · 02/11/2024 13:45

How did you know? This is literally my first post.. 😕

😂

MartinCrieffsLemon · 02/11/2024 15:19

There are about 20 different colours and styles which you can't wear to a wedding and you should be shamed for thinking otherwise

betterangels · 02/11/2024 15:17

How many people have friends they don't like.

Bartcla · 02/11/2024 15:14

That so many people are thick enough to let jk Rowling tell them how to think

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 02/11/2024 15:13

What a sootiken was.

That highly educated people with more than one degree can have the common sense of a potato and not realise that everyone does not have exactly the same life circumstances as them.

FastFood · 02/11/2024 15:03

That it was totally okay for your 19yo to still believe in Father Christmas

fishingfor · 02/11/2024 14:52

That most people cannot spell correctly, or are disinclined to check their wording before posting.

beetr00 · 02/11/2024 14:47

@AnnaDelvorkina she name checked them in the post 😊

I do not know what this thing is and wonder, do I want to?

Its serving bigger portions to men than women automatically. Made more sense when men had physical jobs and needed a lot more calories than women.

Trambopoline · 02/11/2024 14:45

I naively didn’t realise so many people got large inheritances. When my parents died I got nothing, my friends will get nothing from their parents.

I also didn’t realise there were so many people pleasers about. Every other poster claims to be one but I can count on one hand the amount I’ve met in real life!

NormaLouiseBates · 02/11/2024 14:45

SatinHeart · 02/11/2024 13:43

That my salary, which I had previously thought was Ok, is in fact rubbish.

Lol same. It was quite a depressing realisation 😂

BeachRide · 02/11/2024 14:44

That spiders have willies and washing can be darked on.

5128gap · 02/11/2024 14:44

That so many women are married to High Earners. So many in fact it makes me wonder if these men have multiple wives as I'd not have thought there were enough to go round.
That all the skinny jeans and heeled shoes in the shops are regularly emptied into the landfill. Because NO ONE wears them anymore. Ever. That botox, filler, micro blading and cosmetic surgery are all the same thing, and a patriarchal conspiracy to make women's faces fall off.
That there is a shop called mint velvet where it costs £150 for a cardi. And people pay this.

Thispupsgottofly · 02/11/2024 14:41

That a £400 watch is a cheap watch 👀

Oh yes, and that a HUGE number of people think an abbreviation of a name is a 'nickname' and very carefully choose one for their unborn child.

They must be in for one hell of a shock when the child ends up being called 'bumface' or 'sock drawer' by their schoolmates. Now those are nicknames...

Yes, or hereditary nicknames, though probably more common in rural areas. I know a kid who was called Happy by everyone, because his father was, because his father had run the local shop and was notoriously grumpy.

I also know a man who must be in his sixties now, who is called Bono by everyone apart from his wife and his mother because he walked into the pub at night wearing dark glasses in about 1987.

harveyGaskellsMoll · 02/11/2024 14:38

That many MANY people don’t know the difference between bought and brought.

Livelovebehappy · 02/11/2024 14:38

Also how we should ltb if he leaves the toilet seat up, or dares to have an opinion.

Livelovebehappy · 02/11/2024 14:36

That people who frequent centre parcs and McDonald's are the devil's spawn. 'The script', which if I had read it on here whilst dh enacting the script to the letter, I would have instantly known he was cheating instead of trying to be empathetic about his 'mid life crisis'...

MayorOfHuyton · 02/11/2024 14:35

That the word is actually remuneration and not renumeration

Getonwitit · 02/11/2024 14:34

That grown adults are too afraid to answer the door in broad daylight.

Fizbosshoes · 02/11/2024 14:29

I've been quite surprised how many people have issues with "school mums"

I thought if you were a mum and had a school aged child you were a school mum....but apparently it's different....haven't quite worked out how...

Fizbosshoes · 02/11/2024 14:26

Drom · 02/11/2024 13:56

This is certainly true. There’s a current thread from a granny whose 7 year old grandson came home without his school coat. Rather than thinking that this is the kind of mildly annoying mix up that happens literally all the time with young children and that it will show up in lost property or back on his peg on Monday, that OP and one or two others on the thread are immediately leaping to the conclusion that the coat has been stolen, and that the nefarious thieving other parents will refuse to return it, if confronted and have gone all DEFCON.

I agree to a point. However DDs coat (she was about 12, so less likely to simply lose stuff) went missing as the beast from the East storm was forecast in 2018.....and I thought just one of those things.....but it coincidently turned up again about a month later as the weather improved, which made me a bit suspicious

comingintomyown · 02/11/2024 14:24

Given how many hours I have whiled away on here for 14 years I am now realising how little I have learnt however I'm not here for an education.

No wait, how many cheeky fuckers there are out there
