I’ll start.

That having a one syllable first name and surname is an absolute no no.

You must never care about your birthday but if someone gives you a terrible gift you can moan on here but must always thank them in 5 different ways and never question the terrible gift but should also stop giving them gifts

That the noun adult can be contorted to perform like a verb.

Well, you learn something every day! 🙂

Klippityklopp · 02/11/2024 19:32

Also that there are some grown adults will not answer the door unless the caller has asked for permission in writing at least 3 weeks in advance

Klippityklopp · 02/11/2024 19:28

Never to google dragon butter

That adults find adulting so incredibly difficult.

That the noun adult can be contorted to perform like a verb.

What a sootiken was.

That highly educated people with more than one degree can have the common sense of a potato and not realise that everyone does not have exactly the same life circumstances as them.

I wonder if those are the same cohort who had no knowledge of the life cycle of the dandelion?

Bigearringsbigsmile · 02/11/2024 18:45

That so many women are so utterly determined to dislike and find fault with their husband's mother.

Bananalanacake · 02/11/2024 18:41

The amount of women who let a man move in with them and wonder what they should do when the boyfriend doesn't get on with their kids or is mean to them.

wendywoopywoo222 · 02/11/2024 18:39

That so many people can't make a decision on what to call their children without asking opinions from others.

I'll have a packet of plain crisis.

I liked that typo so much I decided to keep it.

Barney16 · 02/11/2024 18:35

Oh, oh, I forgot, people a) hate their cleaners and try to catch them out or b) are frightened of their cleaners and pay them when the cleaner has cleaned nothing, has put her fags out in the pot plants and stolen all the food from the fridge.

sarahsandie · 02/11/2024 18:26

How much some people earn.

So my manager is on 60/70k she is VERY stressed, high workload, huge responsibility. Yet people on here are on 120k with 3 young kids. It baffles me.

HalloweenYey · 02/11/2024 18:24

Just this evening I have learnt the following:

  • That there are people who take offence if you say to a friend 'congratulations on the birth of your baby' because they were not congratulated for choosing not to have a baby.

  • That some people think having a pooh is the same as giving birth

  • That some people have perfect children who have never ever forgotten a please or thank you.

Barney16 · 02/11/2024 18:22

That people cook snacks.
I thought a snack was a twix or a packet of crisis before MN

JaneJeffer · 02/11/2024 18:21

Oh yeah washers @Tittat50 😂

I absolutely love the wit and humour of many posters who have made me laugh endlessly on certain lighthearted threads, before they were cancelled, that is.
I absolutely think that some people hate to see others having fun and will go out of their way to put a stop to it. And I hate those bastards.

Washers

Nosejug · 02/11/2024 18:19

WetBandits · 02/11/2024 14:17

That other people don’t answer the phone or door, and that toilet brushes are frowned upon. How do they get rid of skids?!

My suspicion that many people hate nurses (or just think we are ‘failed doctors’) was confirmed, though Grin

Oh no! Not me. I didn't like reading that.. I've been treated so so kindly and compassionately by nurses in the last year at some real dark moments. a couple of nurses have made me feel so safe when I was terrified I couldn't value them (your profession) more!

I've learnt I'm not alone during some very sad/scary/lonely moments. And I keep getting to remember that my fella really is a good one though repeated readings of terrible actions by men. Not that I haven't met a lot of terrible acting men.

Come to think on it, I've learnt a great deal from the Feminism board and have really enjoyed the debates, having thoughts and views challenged ( in a positive and non hostile way), particularly when I fell down the Jordan Peterson subliminal messaging vortex.

I love seeing how caring and supportive so many pp can be when posters are really in despair. In conclusion, there are some great people out there to offset the washer brigade.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 02/11/2024 18:02

What a fuss people make over seemingly innocuous events.
How some people seem to be permanently offended and seem to go through life looking for offence rather than trying to get in with people, or ignoring them.

Yep. Snowflakes everywhere.

MartinCrieffsLemon · 02/11/2024 18:06

It's terrible that people aren't looking out for each other any more but your neighbour asking for the slightest favour is the height of CFery. Of course you can't take in a parcel (or you might be helping their drug smuggling business) or offer them to use your bin (because you'll ring the council on them for stealing the bin space)

MartinCrieffsLemon · 02/11/2024 18:04

You can only open the door if someone rings first but you should also never answer your phone had always perplexed me
