I’ll start.

That having a one syllable first name and surname is an absolute no no.

I'm now off to Google dragon butter

DARVO perhaps? 🤣

The Script ...

I stand corrected! I can't see men buying it as a guide to being a prick though..that comes quite naturally..

I think you are allowed to celebrate your birthday until you are about 8...and after that, its very unreasonable to want to celebrate it, or want anyone to remember it.
And almost anything qualifies as an awful gift!🤣

Oh yes
Toiletries? Chocolate? Wine? All terrible unless the most expensive ones on the market. And then terrible because of their bad skin, weight loss, never touched alcohol except for weddings...

🙋 you've learnt so much from MN.

I think you should stay here and further your education.

Stop gaslighting me!

RampantIvy · 02/11/2024 21:46

That if your DC don't attend a top 10 university their degree isn't worth the paper it is written on.

wastingtimeonhere · 02/11/2024 16:15

You can report any perceived infringement with the local police and it will be 'logged' for future use.
That there is a 'script' for men, yet I've not found a copy on Amazon yet.
MIL are always, always, evil and NC is all that's acceptable. DIL, of course, is always in the right.
Dogs are hated by the population, and all those stopping me every time I go out to say hello to my dog ate just outliers.

That there are people who bleach their anus.

That websites exist where creeps share non-consensual videos of their partners.

That some people think that snapping and farting is a thing.

Andthesky · 02/11/2024 21:33

Just how easy it is to tell people to end decades long relationships on the basis of a single trivial disagreement where you only have one biased perspective to evaluate from.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/11/2024 21:11

That the 11+ still exists.

Same. No 11+ round here. No grammar schools.

BookishType · 02/11/2024 21:07

MN made me try a mooncup, also period pants. Both a complete disaster. Not suitable for heavy, clotty periods ime.

On here it's acceptable to wash your mooncup in a sink in a public toilet. In full view of others, blood all over your hands.

Ouncesnow · 02/11/2024 20:58

Oh how convinced people are that their accent is the correct one and anyone who pronounces a word differently (due to a regional accent!) is WRONG!!!

curliegirlie · 02/11/2024 20:56

ClytemnestraWasMisunderstood · 02/11/2024 15:33

It's some kind of sin to put mascara on your lower lashes (why??)
Everyone uses mooncups or pads. Does nobody use tampons?
Many posters have keyboards with the comma, full stop and return buttons missing
Or they are using American keyboards which have the 'u' button missing ("my neighbor put the wrong color bin out last night")

Not because of MN but I first tried a mooncup equivalent about 6 years ago. I wish I'd discovered them sooner - a million times better than tampons!

Klippityklopp · 02/11/2024 20:50

@VioletCrawleyForever the difference in children playing outside has always shocked me too.
I was on a thread where the op's children were only allowed to play in the garden, they weren't young, if I remember correctly they were at least 11, The Scottish mums amongst us on the thread were in actual disbelief

You must never care about your birthday but if someone gives you a terrible gift you can moan on here but must always thank them in 5 different ways and never question the terrible gift but should also stop giving them gifts

Another thing I've learned, just how weird some people are about doing anything at all to help someone else! You sound delightful.

There you go, a bun fight in an empty room. Because I don't want to traipse up and down the stairs opening the door to chuggers, I'd step over someone shouting for help on the street.

ForGreyKoala · 02/11/2024 20:20

username7891 · 02/11/2024 15:55

I don't know my neighbours. I'm not going to let a stranger in because they say they need company. I also live on a terraced street, there are plenty of houses to try in the area. I'm not going to answer every knock on the door in case it's an emergency.

Klippityklopp · 02/11/2024 20:07

@Tittat50 no and I still haven't either.
Is she still around?

ForGreyKoala · 02/11/2024 20:07

That so many people get upset/outraged/incandescent with rage over the most trivial of things and how easily offended some people are. Also that so many people think the way things are done now is always right and that there is nothing which can be learned from the past because previous generations are to blame for everything that's wrong in the world.

tuvamoodyson · 02/11/2024 20:01

EmpressOfTheThread · 02/11/2024 15:50

That wasn't the case on the first thread. She called the police not on the basis of theft, breaking and entering, but because "weird stuff" was happening. ie milk and lights
The theft has only been discussed on today's second thread.

it’s all a load of tosh!

andHelenknowsimmiserablenow · 02/11/2024 19:48

I didn't know that Bayliss and Harding smellies and Thortons chocolates were seen as such thoughtless lazy Christmas presents.
I have since upgraded people to L'Occitane and Hotel Chocolate to make up for those years 😂

I'm not the only one then?
