To think in ten years all these huge veneers and huge lips will be seriously dated?

Eek, watching tv these days it's a sea of huge symmetrical bright white veneers.
So many of them look like they have got a teeth guard in when they are sucking on them.
Most of them just look really terrible and I dread to think what their long term teeth issues will be.
Add in the huge lips and filler faces and really it's a bit black mirror with all these faces looking the same. I know the lip filler can be dissolved but is that the same for all over the face? Will people be able to go back to how they were before once the filler blindness passes?
I've been watching old movies and the difference with natural teeth is quite something, it changes the natural shape of your face and everyone looks more individual .
Aibu or will it all look so dated in ten years and all these huge horsey veneers go out of fashion?
Or am I just getting old Grin

I’m not a fan of the veneer/filler look. Same with fake boobs. I find some of it quite grotesque. But if it’s what people want to do, I wouldn’t judge them for it. As long as they’re happy.

I’m glad I was inspired by women who struggled off looking ‘conventionally desirable’ and were attractive because their personality, intelligence and creativity shone through.

I’ve felt for a long time we are heading towards a world where looking like a resident of The Capital from The Hunger Games is the goal some people are aiming towards.

Agree with this. Dd 16 and I have recently started watching the OC together (first for her second time round for me) and she is amazed at how real and natural thee girls look. Mischa Barton especially had such beautiful skin that you can actually see.

Yes! When I re watched I thought that Rachel bilson’s teeth looked quite yellow and you’d never see that on tv now!

My DS (13) cracks up when he sees Botox lips. He thinks that from side-on, they look like ducks beaks 🤣🤣 . However, he has commented that his teeth are yellow (they are not) as he thinks UV white is the colour that they should be.

Please stop your son from laughing at women's appearances, it's a horrible path for a young man to be treading and for you to be seemingly encouraging.

Also, it's filler that gives duck lips, not Botox.

One of the blokes on Big Brother has had his teeth done and I've never seen such fake looking teeth - even on MAFS!

He's only had the top row done as well, he looks awful

TwistedWonder · 01/11/2024 22:58

I understand having good cosmetic dentistry but some of those Turkey teeth look like glow in the dark tombstones.

Yes! Mischa Barton had a smattering of light freckles you could actually see and a coltish beauty you just don’t get on TV now. Possibly if you watch a lot of Scandi TV but def not on US soaps now 😌

Anonymousess · 01/11/2024 22:54

Honestly no, I don’t think crooked yellow teeth would look better. Obvious veneers will still look better than that.

Lip fillers have already lost momentum, but it’s still popular. People are just trying to get more natural results now and the massive lip look isn’t in, but people are still having filler.

The teeth look horrendous and underneath the veneers are just little stumps. I have no idea why anyone would go and get that done.
The only option will be to have implants and a full prosthetic because those teeth will be fucked in a few years time.

The teeth that I had done were ground down for veneers, but they certainly weren't left as stumps - the exception would be the two that were crowned, I think.

There's a white teeth, big lips, boobs and bum, fake tan and tattoos look that already looks dated, but is going to look really funny in several years time.

It's not even like a fashion like a perm and white stilettos that can easily be changed, so they're going to age a person.

This Exactly! I found an old booklet of local club nights in my area I kept back in 2000 - it has loads of what would be now photos of people who are on Old Skool night club nights - not any fillers, teeth, tan, BBL and dodgy tats in sight!! It is REALLY noticeable. I get what people say all these females all look the same. All an army of clones......

I see Tess Daly and fallen fowl to the dreaded turkey teeth

Huge eyelashes, slug eyebrows, pouty lips, big bums and boobs, over white teeth, dyed black hair - they all look unnatural. (Well to me they do). Not sure how long these trends will last, but they will eventually look ridiculous when looked back at (rather like huge shoulder pads, big hair, shell suits, etc do now). However, fashion being fashion, something else will come along that will, in time, look as equally ridiculous. I’m sure we have all, to one extent or another, followed a particular fashion, but then looked back years later, and wondered “Why 😲?”
Younger generations will, no doubt, do the same when they look back 😁.

This is what I always wonder about... Basically they've got no teeth left, apart from those tiny vampire-looking pin things. So every eight to ten years or so, they have to spend thousands on a new set of gnashers? Who in the fuck has the money for that, especially with the way the world is going!?

Can anybody who has had this done answer if this worries them?

I had mine done in 2015. I imagine that gums receding through age will mean that they'll have to be re-done at some point. It is something that I try to budget for, but I'm 64 so...

My dentist wouldn't go ahead with the work until they were certain that I'd got on top of my gum health. I had my front teeth broken when I was a kid, courtesy of the family from hell that lived nearby. I got NHS crowns when I was 20. They lasted until I was 55. That was when I discovered that the root on one was being absorbed into my jaw - very rare: I was told that I was unlucky. One was crowned; the other was replaced with an implant. Thanks to my clumsiness when I was in my 30s, some of my other top teeth were cracked. So..I had one canine crowned and the rest of the top teeth from that canine and the other canine had porcelain veneers applied. The remaining canine had a composite veneer applied.

I also had the bottom teach bleached. That was enough to take care of the discolouration caused by the meds I got for three bouts of measles when I was a child.

I think it all came to about 7k. I'm trying to look after the gums to stop them receding too quickly. When I got them done in 2013, the dentist was surprised that my NHS crowns had lasted 35 yrs, but I did have a tell-tale black line at the gums by then.

LuluBlakey1 · 01/11/2024 22:33

They'll all be left with saggy lips, pitted, uneven cheeks , slug tattooed eyebrows, grotty, wonky, stained veneers , wrinkly tattoos all over them and inflated boobs and bums. I hope whatever is left of the NHS tells them all to fuck off.

So many people on MN claim that "no one can tell" when they have lip filler (which begs the question, why do it). You can tell, and it never looks good.

Here’s one answer to your question. I got lip filler to help myself in my recovery from bulimia, as i knew I couldn’t be sick while my lips were sore and healing. It worked, it looked good and no, you couldn’t tell :) Must say, the nastiness on this thread is a much worse look than any lip filler I’ve seen!

They already look awful! So many of the girls on MAFS all look so fake and similar.

There was a photo online the other day of the Spice Girls and it was refreshing to see how natural they all looked! So much prettier than today's obsession with fake.

I don’t like the trend, but this year’s MAFSUK seems less blighted by it than usual.

ToriMJ · 01/11/2024 22:44

Yes, the impact on speech is definitely an issue with some of these teeth. Overloaded mouths. Why don't they size match them better or is it the requested look?

Pumpkincozynights · 01/11/2024 22:41

I saw a young woman today with those thick, black painted on eyebrows and I thought I haven’t noticed anyone with those for some time. Not so long ago they were all the rage.
Think fake lips will definitely go out of fashion so too will the Russian lashes. I think they are already starting to date badly.
The thing with the Turkey teeth is that it affects your speech too. I’ve come across people with them and they whistle when they speak. Dolly Parton now whistles as she had her teeth done. It’s why Freddy Mercury refused to have his teeth done. He said it would adversely affect his voice.
As for the fat comments, there are plenty of overweight people having these procedures done.

pinkstripeycat · 01/11/2024 22:41

With the veneers do they have to have them re-capped or covered?

So, if they don’t, the veneer wears out and they’re left with shaved down spikes?

HalloweenHaribo · 01/11/2024 22:40

YANBU OP

I caught the end of Big Brother the other night and some of the housemates actually had teeth so white, they looked 'blue' 😳

this is so horrible to say. therapy time for you x

It's just true 😁 They all look ludicrous and really common. I don't see why anyone else should pay for their misplaced vanity.

pepperonipizzaaaa · 01/11/2024 22:33

honestly i think you all sound old and miserable. let people live ffs. the girls with botox and fillers probably think your wrinkles and thin lips look crap too but hey ho, they’re probably not sad enough to make threads about it

We are pointing out that they look fake cheap and insecure.
Whereas Wrinkles are a life lived.
A life of being true to yourself and confident to live your life in the way you want.
Not worried about what others think and definitely not injected their faces with foreign material they could lead to serious side effects

Mlanket · 01/11/2024 22:36

Well they look nearly as awful as those women dragging around all of that excess flab from stuffing their faces; but surely it would be considered rude and unkind to mention that?

Fat people have fillers too though …
