Reading it now its horrific. People saying we heard screams- and yet did nothing??? How does a person just think that no im not going to report this, most likely because they cant be bothered/ dont want to be involved. Scum of the earth the dad is. The stepmother ( and her sister!) going on and on about how they feel bad etc and dont do anything!

I think part of the problem is people being scared of reprocussions for reporting.
Part is lack of knowledge of where to report to.
Part is a bad public view of the care system and viewing a bad home life with parents as generally still better than being in the system, and part is feeling they shouldn't judge "cultural differences" in family life or they're bigoted/racist.

Its very complex to fix, but hopefully the more media attention cases like this get the more it will make people think of the risks in future.

Who is ‘most of us’ and ‘we all’??

Adults who don't like to uphold the fragile ego of an immature bully.

Some may even finger salute behind the screen too 😆

She is the mother of Sarah’s brother, but not of the younger children.

Where is the brother then - is he still in Pakistan too?!

Yes but people are more interested in the step mum and aunt. They are both culpable obviously, but again it is the women being talked about and not the man who actually did it.

There's a very mundane reason for discussing the step-mother and her sisters behaviour - it's that the examination of their texts has been the most recently presented evidence

You forget most of us attended school and our children did also. We all know abuser teachers who spoke like you did previously in my opinion, in an immature condescending way. We all experienced abusive teachers who were never stopped.

Who is ‘most of us’ and ‘we all’??

This is one of my big issues about this idea that none of us have anything to fear from, what was the quote a few posts above, a few "regular checks". Anyone who has a ND child, even if they are in school, will know that they and the family are not perceived kindly or acceptably by many. And those in authority seem the least willing to accept different ways of managing ND. Regulating home education is not the answer. And yes I am also aware that families where children have big issues are often elbowed out to home ed in Y11, in Dec. (School census in Jan that counts for the national scoring).

The DfE don't allow a student's results to be discounted from progress measures if they attend the school prior to Spring Census Day. They only allow them to be discounted if they

a) Join a school after Spring Census. The results will be included in the previous school's progress measures, so there is no benefit to doing this - and not entering them also shows up as negative progress.
b) Join a school after having been permanently excluded twice before joining them. One of the previous schools will have the results included in their measures.
c) Join the school prior to Spring Census Day AND are new to the country AND they are evidenced as coming from a country where it has not already been blanket banned from having results discounted because English is a common language - which means, due to the influence of the British Empire, the vast majority of countries that children tend to come to the UK from are ones where they cannot be excluded.
d) Are in youth custody, fully evidenced.
e) Are fully evidenced as being life threateningly or terminally ill and even then, not in all cases.

The school has to provide this information over the course of a week in July in the form of no more than six pdf pages in a fairly lengthy and convoluted process for each child, there is no right of appeal and it's largely dependent upon whether the person at the DfE (who have just taken over the operation from a private contractor) are able to handle the requests correctly. The results so far have not been promising.

They also cannot avoid the negative progress scores by excluding/putting the child into alternative provison/a PRU because they do not have progress measures - the results or lack of are still attached to the school.

The only time when it's vaguely non-detrimental to a school to encourage/cheat/break the Law is if the child did not sit KS2 SATs. However, as there are no formal progress measures for this year or next due to Covid, there's nothing to be gained from certain academy chains behaving like this at all.

Oh, and a school suddenly having a spike in permanent exclusions, managed moves and EHE in Y11 will attract the attention of both the LA and Ofsted, as illegal offrolling is an instant Inadequate. Which, combined with everything else makes actually PEXing somebody in Y11 extremely challenging, even if whatever they did was absolutely PEX-worthy. The only one I know of that stuck involved an extremely large knife and a somewhat traumatised member of staff - and yes, they did have SEND, yes, their attainment wasn't going to be great, but that was not something the school could say 'oh well, no biggie, see you Monday'.

I'm posting this information not as a criticism of you, but it somewhat counters the statements that some of the parents make.

What weapons were found? I'm not too familiar with all the details of the case but that was just my initial thought.

From what I remember they found pipe she had been hit with, a cricket bat and hoods.

Diorchristian · 01/11/2024 22:35

@Lettherebejustice the bat, belts, head masks, all sorts? It's so strange!

Haveyouanyjam · 01/11/2024 22:33

Diorchristian · 01/11/2024 22:30

They left the body. So who knows.

Thats a really good point. No one has said hardly anything about the behaviour of the men but then nothing has been reported about the texts they have been sending - why is that? Why was only the womans behaviour reported on.

Did anyone else think the father looked like an annoyed and petulant sulky fucking teenager in that video message that him and the stepmother made in Pakistan?

@Chowtime because women will always get the blame

what exactly did I say that was racist? Feel free to point it out. Not your interpretation of what I have said, but what I have actually said. Because racism has everything to do with race, and not religion or culture - Which is what I was talking about.
Did you know that it is a form of abuse to make someone feel as though they have to watch what they say and cause them to feel they are walking on egg shells? Because that is what you are doing to me and what people like you do to other people, they are afraid to say things incase they are called a racist. Which leads to avoidable deaths like in this case.
If a comment is reported a number of times it is removed so that it doesn’t derail the thread. In my case, people were taking my comment to mean that white British people aren’t violent. They are. And there are reasons for it including drug use and mental health issues. But people from other religions and cultures, will be much much more likely to, on top of that, have cultural and religious motivations behind their violence.
Again, if I had actually been racist, I would have been banned.

Edited

I've already explained what I consider to be racist about your posts. I'm not going to keep arguing the toss with you about it here. If you're really interested in understanding, you will take some time to reflect on what you said in the posts that were deleted and on what others have said to you on this thread, but I'm not convinced that you really want to know. Hint: dressing things up as being about religion and culture doesn't let you off the hook when it's very clear where you're coming from. Thinly veiled racism is still racism.

And no, it is not a form of abuse to state that racist comments are racist. I accept that it might not be very nice to hear, but we need to call it out when we see it in order to stamp it out. If it makes you think more carefully about what you say in future, then that's a good thing.

And no, calling people out for saying racist things is not what leads to deaths like this. If people fail to report genuine concerns for fear of being called racist, I suspect that it because they are fundamentally racist. People who are not racist do not think in those terms.

Perhaps the house was cleaned so thoroughly to hide other evidence of her abuse?

This is what I assumed. They planned their exit, they cleaned up and packed everything up.

BlueSilverCats · 01/11/2024 22:29

You could discuss the epidemic of male violence towards females?

Or the bystander effect.

Or the "mind your own business culture ".

Or that safeguarding is everyone's business.

Or how to encourage, support and educate women from minority communities to seek support/report crimes against them/children.

And many, many other things.

Emmascout1774 · 01/11/2024 22:23

you’re post makes me so cross. You deliberately misinterpreted everything I said.

  1. of course schools try to tackle online porn etc. we are constantly talking about it in PSHE. Schools are banned in lessons and in between lessons. The vast majority of schools (like mine) have banned them altogether and increasing numbers of schools insist children hand in their phones when they arrive at school. However loads get around this through various methods and how on earth is online porn teacher’s fault? The vast vast majority of issues children have online happen outside school, at home, when their parents are not supervising what their children are doing.
  2. well duh of course if a child tells us to fuck off they get in trouble. Again and again. After school detention? They don’t turn up. Parents don’t enforce. Half the time parents tell us it’s our fault.
  3. can’t retain decent teachers. Well maybe because people like you always say how crap teachers are and blame us for society’s ills and also expect us to solve everything that people leave.

Well if SOME teachers didn't teach children odd Sex and relationship lessons, abuse disabled children and demand that only they teach/ban non state education, there wouldn't be an issue.

@lemondropsandchimneytops they are referring to the extreme cleanliness of the house and how spartan it was as well.

I know, but I think their primary reason for taking her out of school was more devious than just wanting her to clean the house.
