To throw my hospital bed neighbour’s phone out the window

I won’t be obviously but she has spent the entire day on speaker phone seemingly to every person she’s ever met in her life.

It’s a maternity ward, I’ve slept a total of 0 hours since yesterday in between her and my adorable newborn and my tolerance is at an all time low. We’re both in tonight too and I don’t know how I’m going to survive her. She also has her phone notifications on loud.

Why are people like this?

I would hate people to be able to listen into my conversations! Why are people like this?

Please speak to the midwife or health care assistant . You need your rest and this is unfair

Congratulations on your little ones arrival 🥰

It seems there's one of these on every ward - I had one too!

Talk to the midwives. If she's annoying you she'll be annoying others. The postnatal ward is hell on earth in general though. I didn't sleep for a week between 3 nights on the induction ward and 4 nights on the postnatal ward. A combo of morphine and sleep deprivation had me hallucinating. I discharged myself against medical advice (my health not baby's) in the end to just get some sleep!

Passed a woman walking down the busy road with her phone on speaker, max volume, and yelling into it. Why. Why are people like this.

And on buses and trains!
I simply don't get it

SlowPonies · 26/10/2024 20:02

Why don’t people use phones as phones anymore. Ie holding them to their ear to listen. Laziness? It needs to be made clear how antisocial it is.

BabyCloud · 26/10/2024 19:59

Ask the midwives to tell her to be more considerate.

Congratulation’s on the birth of your baby.

Changeyourfuckingcar · 26/10/2024 19:56

Oh don’t!! I had one the same when I was in having my son, FaceTime calls CONSTANTLY. And she was absolutely vile when I asked, very nicely and gently, if she could stop at midnight

My 92 yo dad was in hospital last weekend. Such a racket with phones and TV s. Managed to get him home thankfully

ForgettingMeNot · 26/10/2024 19:52

They're midwives not nurses 🤣

Sunshineclouds11 · 26/10/2024 19:52

Agree tell the nurses

CynicalSunni · 26/10/2024 19:51

Tell the nurses and they will tell her to be more considerate. Or at least to turn the loudspeaker off etc.
Or you do the same and see if she complains

buffyspikefaith · 26/10/2024 19:51

There was one in a&e last night, male though
Loud conversations on speaker, every other word was fuck or cunt
Pleasant

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 26/10/2024 19:50

tell her, she may not realise how loud it all is
tho of course she may have a hearing difficulty

newhousenewhouse · 26/10/2024 19:49

Talk to the nurses and get moved
