Whoever made this musical are obviously some emotionally underdeveloped people. It doesn’t matter what they or we think, there’s a young woman out there whose childhood abuse and neglect is being made into a ‘gotcha’ joke. If they’re already this desperately defensive of what they’re doing, on some level they know it’s wrong.

You're not laughing at your own misfortune but that of a child's so you might want to row back on presenting yourself as some kind of stoic.

Well, as I'm sure you can see, lots of people DO have compassion and empathy for Shannon Matthews and you're probably in the minority (or at least, you're one of the few who is prepared to openly declare your lack). I got the humour. Much appreciated! My chosen career is much worse than a dentist tho. I'm in IT, we really cause people pain lol

That's fair point. I do have compassion but also a very dark humour (coping mechanism). I am the first to make jokes about my dead parents, despite the fact I miss them every day. Horses for courses.
