please make me feel less sick by sharing your horror stories of sending messages to the person you’re talking about/screenshots. Bonus points if it’s worked related!

When he was about 18 my brother once messaged my (very conservative and boring) mother at around 2am, saying how amazing in bed she was, and even though it had taken a while, how thunderously he had come. Fair play to her, she calmy woke him up at 7am by just shoving the text message in front of his sleepy hungover face. 🤣

"Not in a sex way!
Hahahahahaha!
Just because of the cat!"

That is fucking brilliant @Tiredforfive45

Friend texted me upset about her weight and saying she looks fat. My initial ‘noo’ got autocorrected to ‘moo’

OH MY GOD GrinGrinGrin

This is hilarious!!!! And cringing!!

dadadadadedadoo · 23/10/2024 11:47

I once sent a cat meme to a contact in our local area. She has the same name as a colleague. She replied with a thank you and that she had had a bad day and it cheered her up. I then deliberately included her in any cat memes I sent until I left that job!

Smallsalt · 23/10/2024 11:12

When my ID twins were born the were very very like their Dad .

I sent a pic of them to my friend , jokingly entitled "Who's the Daddy?"

Except I sent it to a random stranger.
Silence for 24 hours then I got a terse "Who is this?"

Don't know if it was an enraged wife or an ashen faced bloke!

Accidentally sent a colleague a text meant for my DP with details of the threesome we were busy organising.

How did the respond? 😂

Mine was actually very unprofessional. Not a text but in the same meeting at work as one of my very best friends. We all had laptops open in our office as we were dialling into the main meeting going on at our sister site. As I'm sat nodding and smiling to appear engaged whilst our manager goes on and on about the new recruitment drive and how we now offer a free breakfast bar to all new members of staff for a year I meant to send a teams message to my friend saying 'that's the worst fucking idea in the world. Welcome to our soulless shit show hope you like nutrigrain'. But I sent it to the teams meeting chat with 26 participants...

Oh my god 😂

I once texted my boss instead of my husband asking him to pick up some dishwasher tablets from Sainsburys. Only realised when my boss returned from his lunch break and plonked a box of dishwasher tablets on my desk!

One of the tamer messages but this had me really giggling. Think it was the fact the boss actually got the dishwasher tablets for you 🤭

Hilarious!! My phone also changes “fab” to “fat” and I always have to double check before I comment on people’s photos 😂

The day after I found out I was pregnant with our first, I sent a text to my husband at work, “Good morning Daddy ❤️.”

Accidentally sent it to a colleague.
Panicked.

”sorry. That was for my husband.”
”sometimes I just call him Daddy.”

Panicked more.

“Not in a sex way!”
”hahahahahahahahaha”
”Just because of the cat.”

Mortifying, honestly. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

She was lovely about it and once I announced my pregnancy she said she had figured as much but I still re-live it and cringe.

Not in a sex way just because of the cat! 🤣

When DH and I were in the early days of seeing each other I sent him a photo of me face included (trying to look sexy) lying on the bed in see through lingerie but I sent it to a friend who I didn’t know that well instead who was the last person I had messaged before him 😬
She was good about it but I was mortified!

Luckily no wrong person texts, but an unfortunate autocorrect. Cousin text me, asked what I was up to. Texted him back; “Sitting out in the sun, drinking some coke”

Except coke autocorrected to come… and I didn’t notice… until he sent me so many laughing emojis I thought he’d had a seizure

🤣🤣🤣🤣

That made me giggle. My old boss would have done that too and it wouldn’t have occurred to him to think it weird either he’d just do it because he was that mice.

My then fiance had been away with work and I hadn’t seen him in four months, he was due home that day so I sent him a very detailed text outlining some planned activities for that evening, along with a photo, I sent it to the family whatsapp which included his mum and very elderly grandma. He didn’t twig this when he read it, thank god he didn’t reply, but neither did anyone else, so it remained there until his mum eventually sent another message a few days later. We were staying at their house, so I essentially gave them an order of service.

😂😂😂

didgerididnt · 23/10/2024 07:45

I started at a new job in my early 20s, taking over a role from someone who was leaving. When she left after a week I inherited her email account...and the group chat she'd been in with four other girls in the office, bitching about my appearance, my accent, and the fact that I was trying to be friendly despite "obviously" being quite shy. (That was actually quite unpleasant, it really upset me!)

More fun is the one that I didn't actually receive. One night I received several panicked messages from one of DHs friends, then DH immediately had a phone call from his mate apologising profusely, completely beside himself...because he'd just accidentally sent a Snapchat to me instead of the woman he was dating.
Apparently it wasn't a proper dick pic, but there was "probably some penis". He was terrified I'd receive a selfie with him attempting to be saucy and think it was actually intended for me 😂
I'd deleted Snapchat ages ago. (DH did encourage me to download it again to see if the message had come through, purely because he thought it was so funny).

Texted my wife to say I was in a Waitrose. Autocorrect changed it to waitress ...

Years ago had a bad date with a man called Dominic. It was a one nighter I suppose (and certainly was after I did what I did!)

Sex was terrible. He left soon after and I immediately texted my best friend with the message 'ugh! Just hideous! I'm going to call him Micro Dom from now on as could barely feel it'

Of course, sent it to him didn't I?

Still go hot and cold when I think about it, 18 years later ..

Jesus, that's probably something that will stay with him for the rest of his life.

LivelyMintViper · 23/10/2024 06:15

To my horrified teenage daughter I sent the message" I have finally found the most enormous cock". ( I had been looking for a large clock for my kitchen)

Haruka · 23/10/2024 05:25

Had a bit of a funny back and forth with my then-boyfriend where we were teasing each other. After a particularly good one I simply replied with 🖕
Except I was having a conversation with my line manager a few hours prior and accidentally sent it to him. No context, just 🖕
I was mortified, and this was a text with no way of deleting it. I went to him red-faced and told him that my last message was absolutely not meant for him, but for my boyfriend and apologised profusely. He never looks at his phone at work, so I had a few hours' wait. He told me the next day he'd been expecting a rather raunchy message, so the emoji was even more funny. Thank god he had a sense of humour!

That's actually very sweet!

Once messaged my line manager saying something like 'Just leaving now, can't wait to see you! Love you xx'

It may have been slightly more soppy/mushy then my memory allows me to remember.

He text back almost immediately with 'I hope to fuck that wasn't meant for me!'

Love both of your bosses!

lydiaaa · 23/10/2024 00:38

I will preface this by stating I was 18, immature and think its disgusting and wrong to comment on someone's appearance. It definitely taught me to be careful what I said about people.

My boss (DB) was a bit of a tyrant. After a particularly hard day in the office I sent a colleague a message stating all the terrible things DB had done that day. I then proceeded to go into detail about how she needs to wax her moustache and sort her breathe out. It was extremely harsh. You guessed it - sent it to boss. Couldn't even play it off as for someone else as I had used her initials. I followed it up with a "sorry that wasnt meant for you!". As if that made it better. I was ready to be sacked when I returned the next day and she pretended it never happened. Extremely out of character. She continued to be a nightmare but did not seem to hold it against me.
