please make me feel less sick by sharing your horror stories of sending messages to the person you’re talking about/screenshots. Bonus points if it’s worked related!

The message from my one of my closest friends that was sent to me clearly in error because it was about me. She said some awful things and it still haunts me. I went NC and wonder how she is these days.

Mine was actually very unprofessional. Not a text but in the same meeting at work as one of my very best friends. We all had laptops open in our office as we were dialling into the main meeting going on at our sister site. As I'm sat nodding and smiling to appear engaged whilst our manager goes on and on about the new recruitment drive and how we now offer a free breakfast bar to all new members of staff for a year I meant to send a teams message to my friend saying 'that's the worst fucking idea in the world. Welcome to our soulless shit show hope you like nutrigrain'. But I sent it to the teams meeting chat with 26 participants...

That is brilliant 😂, please tell me what happened afterwards?!

Rubywednesday1 · 23/10/2024 19:33

I went on a blind date, it went really well and the next day he texted to thank me for a lovely night. I texted back no thank you, I unfortunately omitted the comma, he never spoke to me again

Daniki · 23/10/2024 19:27

@alifetimeago1 😂😂😂 do you know what if I got that msg tho I would not think it was a foursome 😂

alifetimeago1 · 23/10/2024 19:12

Daniki · 23/10/2024 10:44

How did the respond? 😂

I think he replied something innocuous like 'For me?'

DP has just reminded me it was actually not for a threesome but for a foursome, and the text was something like "Booked date with couple for the 10th, they seem very interested, may come back to ours."

It was so mortifying it's practically wiped from my memory and I can't remember if I replied with an excuse - I think I may have tried to style it out as if we were arranging to meet new flatmates... agghhh

Winfield · 23/10/2024 18:57

I texted a friend to sorry you have a cold, but somehow it came out as
Sorry you’re ill, well deserved!

Instead of get better soon.

Iclyn · 23/10/2024 18:54

Not inappropriate , but was taken into hospital after a life changing medical condition . Sent a message to a friend but instead sent it a group message to a bunch of ex work colleagues I'd not seen for 5 years !

I work as a teaching assistant, and we have a department WhatsApp group. Xmas Eve last year, someone sent a message saying 'Happy Xmas and hope the kids are enjoying it.' I read it quickly, thinking it was a school mum. I replied 'happy Xmas to you, and it won't be long before the kids are all wanking and not bothered about xmas'. I then finished up by saying afterwards 'To be fair, it's usually me who is cracking one out,'.
This was I thought a joke to a close school friend about wanking.
If took me a few hours to realise I had cross referenced to my work messages when I had no reply. I deleted and apologised.
My boss never said anything to me, so I don't know how many people actually read it (about 40 in the department) but I got a few giggles when we went back after Xmas hols.
Not my best moment.

Jesus, why are you talking about kids wanking?

I can't imagine anyone I know sending a text like that.

We have an extended family WhatsApp group for baby photos - all the children are now married and having their own children, so it's a good way for all the generations to be able to see the grandkids, great grandkids and great great grandkids grow.

I blearily looked at my phone for the time in the early hours and noticed a new picture alert in one of the baby chats. I opened it to see a very large, very angry looking penis. The surroundings of the picture (and the footwear) made it immediately apparent that this was Great Great Grandad's surprisingly magnificent, septuagenarian willy.

Fortunately DH is an admin so I shook him awake, handed him his phone and said he better hurry up and delete Grandad's knob before everyone saw it. Fortunately there weren't any other group members looking at it at 4am so it was swiftly deleted and his dignity was spared. They never really grow out of playing with their genitals do they?

😂😂😂
I'm willing to bet that your hubby is the only man in history to have been shaken awake at 4am to delete his Grandad's knob pic.

SpiritOfEcstasy · 23/10/2024 18:29

I once gave my telephone number to a man who had been photographing/videoing an event my dd’s were involved in. He’d asked for it to WhatsApp on the film. He then proceeded to message me in a way that had nothing to do with the event. I ignored him and messaged a mummy friend to tell her that I thought he was gross and low level predatory … and sent it to him instead 😂 oh well …

Rednotdead · 23/10/2024 18:15

Best thread 😂😂😂

Legit had my phone in my hand one morning as a penis pic appeared in my WhatsApp from a colleague and then was immediately deleted. I don’t have my read receipts or online on so he didn’t know I’d seen it and I never said anything and he probably still thinks to this day he got away with it.

Years ago had a bad date with a man called Dominic. It was a one nighter I suppose (and certainly was after I did what I did!)

Sex was terrible. He left soon after and I immediately texted my best friend with the message 'ugh! Just hideous! I'm going to call him Micro Dom from now on as could barely feel it'

Of course, sent it to him didn't I?

Still go hot and cold when I think about it, 18 years later ..

🤣🫣😳

My exh, while we were still married, sent me a WhatsApp asking what pasta to buy, followed by another message arranging a meeting with the OW and describing what he was going to do to her 🤢 he deleted it pretty quickly but I'd seen it.....

😬

Hicks123 · 23/10/2024 17:57

On a work trip away with team, my boss shows me a text message he’s received not once but over and over again, in the space of 10 mins. It’s pretty raunchy and explicit. Do I think it’s a scam? Number unknown to him. No idea.

An hour later friend/colleague who overheard this confesses to me it was her and she accidentally sent it to boss instead of her partner 😂. She’d then put the phone in her bag where something had pressed on it and it kept sending!!! She is mortified!! She quickly deleted his number.

Friend has good sense of humour, so I decide to prank her and get someone I know (but she doesn’t) to text her back pretending to be boss “I didn’t know you felt this way”…

Her face was priceless!! 😂 She refused to go to the work event as she was too embarrassed.

I did own up but it still makes me laugh whenever I think of it.

UnNiddeRides · 23/10/2024 17:54

TheHangingGardensOfBasildon · 23/10/2024 16:53

Oh, no!

Did she know that he'd sent it? That probably terrified her, actually, as she would probably have assumed that it was somehow done by a filthy perv getting his kicks, who could have been outside/near, for all she knew.

That was one big thing about landlines: they were usually shared by/answered by more than one person, unless you lived alone and never had anybody visiting - it's quite a modern thing whereby everybody has a phone that (usually) only they use.

I lied and said that a friend sent it to see whether BT had any kind of filters. I don’t think she believed me, but it made things more comfortable for both of us to pretend that she did. She was probably thinking ‘so that’s what you’re up to EOW when the children are at your ex-husband’s’.

Coffeemaniac · 23/10/2024 17:52

I WhatsApped the building group “ I’m so glad they’ve moved out, they were really noisy and had horrible arguments.” Of course the “subjects “ were still on the chat….

indeed · 23/10/2024 17:51

I once sent a client a text message that was meant to read - You know me, I’m the analogy queen. Unbeknown to me (until he replied) I had actually written, You know me, I’m the anal love queen. 😕
He was quite sweet about it but I felt filthy.

Kentucky83 · 23/10/2024 17:47

Not a text message, however this mix up still makes me chuckle:
I went to uni close to home, so I didn't move out of parents. There was a gig in in the union one night so I wanted a lift off my dad. I called his office and asked to speak to him, colleague says he'll put me through.
Phone gets picked up, I say hi, he says hi, I think he sounds a bit odd so I ask him if he's ok and he says fine so I arrange my lift with him, no problem.
3 hours later I got a call from my dad asking if I had, by chance, called his office that afternoon. Turns out the reason he sounded odd was because I wasn't speaking to him, I was speaking to his boss who, in turn, has a daughter who attended the same uni as me. I thought he was Dad, he thought I was his daughter and only realised the mistake when he asked his daughter what time she wanted a lift and she had no idea what he was talking about!

I'm glad I cheered you up a bit and I hope things get better for you.

Let my friend use my phone for a sexy pic for her boyfriend (she didn't have a camera phone) she accidently sent it to my very religious FIL instead

Daniki · 23/10/2024 17:33

UnNiddeRides · 23/10/2024 16:35

Not a text, but about 20 years ago my boyfriend discovered that you could send a text to a landline, the phone would then ring & an automated voice would read the message to you.
One day when I was at work he texted my mobile asking if I’d got his landline text. He didn’t realise I was at work & my mother was at my house childminding, so my mother had answered my phone to be told by the BT voice ‘you do great blow-jobs & I’m going to fuck you from behind’. I was almost to embarrassed to look at her when I got home.

😂😂😭

Longleggedblond · 23/10/2024 17:16

Having spent an enjoyable afternoon repotting my houseplants ( I know how to live) I sent message to family whattapp telling them " I'd reported my houseplants"
My son said " why what they done? "
pretty tame but still caused some sniggers
