please make me feel less sick by sharing your horror stories of sending messages to the person you’re talking about/screenshots. Bonus points if it’s worked related!

The day after I found out I was pregnant with our first, I sent a text to my husband at work, “Good morning Daddy ❤️.”

Accidentally sent it to a colleague.
Panicked.

”sorry. That was for my husband.”
”sometimes I just call him Daddy.”

Panicked more.

“Not in a sex way!”
”hahahahahahahahaha”
”Just because of the cat.”

Mortifying, honestly. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

She was lovely about it and once I announced my pregnancy she said she had figured as much but I still re-live it and cringe.

Sent a text to a very well bred, middle aged lady I worked with who had flu and was off work.

It was supposed to say, 'Hope you spent the weekend in bed recovering'. Predictive text changed it to 'Hope you spent the weekend in bed fucking'.

I was mortified. I didn't know her very well.

Giggling at these!
I once sent a text designed for a boy to my dad. Pretty tame but it still makes me embarrassed as hell.
Also done the thing where I was complaining about a friend to someone else then sent it to said friend. She never said a word about it but did mention what I had done to someone we both knew.

UserNameOfShame · 22/10/2024 18:07

Not half as bad as some of the others here, but I once sent a text to DH which started "your bloody mother" then a rant. Of course I sent it to MIL. Then my phone immediately ran out of battery and I was out and about so could do nothing about it until it was far too late.

A friend was once selling handmade Christmas decorations. In all honesty, they were terrible. I wouldn't want one if they were free. But I bought one to be a nice friend, and agreed to share with friends and family to get her more custom.
Accidentally sent her a message, with a photo of her decorations attached, saying "I know these are completely hideous but my friend is trying her best. If I send you the money would you please buy one from her so she thinks she's got some custom?"

A couple of other people had also bought from her, and she wouldn't believe that I didn't pay them to do it. I felt terrible for ages after.

No this honestly makes me want to turn myself inside out.

Are you still friends?

Bubblebuttress · 22/10/2024 18:03

I text my boyfriend a really dirty f*ck me type of message. Only I sent it to my mum.

My sister was still at home ( 18) and i had to get her to find mums phone and delete it. Mortified she read it.

25 years on… we never speak of it still.

LifeonMarss · 22/10/2024 18:00

Finally got added to my DH family whatsapp and they were all talking at the same time my friend messaged me on there about her boyfriends sex issues so I replied "could you not just ask him for oral only for a while". Sent to his entire family instead of my friend

Celticliving · 22/10/2024 18:00

Text my Dad and told him that Mum was going to lick his arse.

Bloody predictive text.

Not me but a colleague sent a text intended for then new girlfriend (now wife) saying: “Fancy a shag in an hour?”

The message went to the (female, quite elderly) Chair of one of his clients.

Apparently she was very good natured about it…

Just loving all of these -best thread!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂

Scout2016 · 22/10/2024 17:57

A friend, dating a girl called Laura, absolutely crumpled on a night out, head in hands going "noooo!"
He'd been texting another mate "Laura's a great girl but I just can't stop thinking about Jenny" and sent it to Laura.
The memory of his panic stayed with me and I'm so careful double checking what I send now.

That was such a lovely thing to do! (Minus the sending the message to the creator friend)! 😂

Thereshegoess · 22/10/2024 17:56

Legit had my phone in my hand one morning as a penis pic appeared in my WhatsApp from a colleague and then was immediately deleted. I don’t have my read receipts or online on so he didn’t know I’d seen it and I never said anything and he probably still thinks to this day he got away with it.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 22/10/2024 17:53

Was a work email... was meant to be internal but sent it to the client .... It read "Sharon (the client) is bat shit crazy".

Brother and Managing Director had the same name. On my brothers 40th I sent him Happy Birthday you old twat

Yes, it went to my MD. Thankfully he was great and saw the funny side

InformerYaNoSayDaddyMeSnowMeIGoBlameALickyBoom · 22/10/2024 17:43

I had been dating a guy, Jason, for a while (teenagers) we had built having sex to into this big romantic occasion that neither of us would ever live up to.

When we got around to it he lasted about 3 seconds.

I messaged my friend after he left saying "I'll need to start calling him premature ejacu-jason from now on"..... only I sent it to him.

In all fairness, he did laugh about it.

JKForevs · 22/10/2024 17:41

When I was in my early 20s and a bit too dramatic, a friend (call her Louisa) was being a twat and I sent a text to mutual friend complaining about her. It went something like

FFS, Louisa! She's being a complete arsehole. I am completely done with her, I swear.

Louisa instantly replied 'who is?' - mercifully she assumed I was addressing her not talking about her! I then had to pretend I was talking about our mutual friend and invent a story about something she did. Which was nice of me.

We're late 40s now, still friends, and I only just confessed the other week Grin

(I did also send a joke about dogging to a client by mistake once, which was far far worse)

whyamiawakestillitssolate · 22/10/2024 17:39

My work friend dropped me in it by pressing reply on an email from another more senior colleague and saying “you’re right, he really doesn’t know what he’s talking about does he myname” instead of forwarding to me.

To be fair he took it quite well, came over and said “yep, I don’t so can you explain it to me”. I still cringe thinking about it 😣

Have also texted big boss and said “thank god it’s Friday” when meaning to text DH. He was also pretty good about it!

I once texted my boss instead of my husband asking him to pick up some dishwasher tablets from Sainsburys. Only realised when my boss returned from his lunch break and plonked a box of dishwasher tablets on my desk!

That's actually very sweet!

Once messaged my line manager saying something like 'Just leaving now, can't wait to see you! Love you xx'

It may have been slightly more soppy/mushy then my memory allows me to remember.

He text back almost immediately with 'I hope to fuck that wasn't meant for me!'

Years ago had a bad date with a man called Dominic. It was a one nighter I suppose (and certainly was after I did what I did!)

Sex was terrible. He left soon after and I immediately texted my best friend with the message 'ugh! Just hideous! I'm going to call him Micro Dom from now on as could barely feel it'

Of course, sent it to him didn't I?

Still go hot and cold when I think about it, 18 years later ..

Getting ready for a hot date, simultaneously texting my best friend and the date. Accidentally sent 'scrubbing, shaving and plucking like mad!' to the date 😮

😂

idontknkowwhyibother · 22/10/2024 17:21

I was the recipient of one of these when I was the lodger of someone I worked with.

I had a boyfriend and we'd been out the night before and were not in a rush to get up the next morning (Saturday) we were also both shift workers so didn't see that much of each other on the weekend.

Anyway, I got a message from the landlady saying "they are still in bed!!"

I then heard the door slam very shortly afterwards which was presumably as a result of her realising what she had done and making herself scarce 🤣

She came home hours later and hugged me apologetically. I didn't really care, she hadn't said anything particularly bad it was just funny that it was obvious she had been bitching about me to someone.

I moved in with the boyfriend not long after 😃
