please make me feel less sick by sharing your horror stories of sending messages to the person you’re talking about/screenshots. Bonus points if it’s worked related!

Mine was actually very unprofessional. Not a text but in the same meeting at work as one of my very best friends. We all had laptops open in our office as we were dialling into the main meeting going on at our sister site. As I'm sat nodding and smiling to appear engaged whilst our manager goes on and on about the new recruitment drive and how we now offer a free breakfast bar to all new members of staff for a year I meant to send a teams message to my friend saying 'that's the worst fucking idea in the world. Welcome to our soulless shit show hope you like nutrigrain'. But I sent it to the teams meeting chat with 26 participants...

My wife was supporting a non verbal disabled child, Sam.

She had just started the job and was speaking to her colleague Derek about ideas on where to take Sam who suggested swimming as he had taken him swimming before.

My wife then messaged Sam's parents saying "I think we will do swimming on Thursday, Sam told me he loves swimming!"

She then had to apologise and say she meant Derek said that as Sam is non verbal and has no communication skills 😅

Another one....my bosses boss is called Kevin. And my bosses new boyfriend was also called Kevin. Just after work one day she called her boss thinking it was her boyfriend all sweetly like "hiiii how are you? What you up to?" And her boss was like "er I'm in Tesco picking up dinner for the kids?" which is when she realised her error 🤣

My then fiance had been away with work and I hadn’t seen him in four months, he was due home that day so I sent him a very detailed text outlining some planned activities for that evening, along with a photo, I sent it to the family whatsapp which included his mum and very elderly grandma. He didn’t twig this when he read it, thank god he didn’t reply, but neither did anyone else, so it remained there until his mum eventually sent another message a few days later. We were staying at their house, so I essentially gave them an order of service.

I once texted my boss instead of my husband asking him to pick up some dishwasher tablets from Sainsburys. Only realised when my boss returned from his lunch break and plonked a box of dishwasher tablets on my desk!

This is so sweet, bless him!

beasmithwentworth · 22/10/2024 18:54

My friend was seeing someone and sent a sexy underwear picture to him... except she sent it to her son's football team's parent WhatsApp group 😳

Aliciainwunderland · 22/10/2024 18:48

I gave a prostitute my address and asked her come by at 6pm….

all a big misunderstanding. I found a phone - called the last number and spoke to the owner of the phone who was now with the woman who had been the last person to call him. I was supposed to text that number with my address so he could come collect it. Unfortunately - he had all the prostitutes in his phone saved under the same name and I ended up texting the wrong one!

oh, when he did eventually pick up the phone he gave me £40 😂

I work as a teaching assistant, and we have a department WhatsApp group. Xmas Eve last year, someone sent a message saying 'Happy Xmas and hope the kids are enjoying it.' I read it quickly, thinking it was a school mum. I replied 'happy Xmas to you, and it won't be long before the kids are all wanking and not bothered about xmas'. I then finished up by saying afterwards 'To be fair, it's usually me who is cracking one out,'.
This was I thought a joke to a close school friend about wanking.
If took me a few hours to realise I had cross referenced to my work messages when I had no reply. I deleted and apologised.
My boss never said anything to me, so I don't know how many people actually read it (about 40 in the department) but I got a few giggles when we went back after Xmas hols.
Not my best moment.

Oh another one, in my home town there was a car park by a beach and there were rumours that a lot of people would go dogging there. As teenagers who had just learnt to drive, me and my best friend would often on a Friday night go through the McDonald’s drive thru, and go for a drive down the coast road, chatting and listening to music. We would often drive by the supposed dogging spot hoping to catch some action (we were daft 17 year olds, just wanting a giggle). Even though we’d spend about two hours together, driving by the rumoured spot was five mins out of the evening, but we’d always refer to it as “going dogging.”

One night I text my friend saying “what time you want to go dogging tonight?” And lo and behold, I’d accidentally sent it to my mum who was sat right next to me. I was so red faced trying to dig myself out of the hole!

FortyFacedFuckers · 22/10/2024 18:41

I once sent a very rangy message about my boss to her instead of DP... she walked right into my office and said "did you text me" I was confused saying no picked up my phone and suddenly realised what I had done, I laterally said oh sorry that was for DP 😳

Another one
My DP was working away and we were having a little "sexting" and my dad sent DP a message of course he accidentally sent the explicit message meant for me in reply to my dad, my dad being the guy he is replied saying I hope this is for my daughter & forwarded it to me saying I think this is for you, nearly 20 years later he still takes the piss out of DP

When I was at uni, my friends and I were planning a trip to Barcelona, but one of the girls didn’t have a passport as her parents wouldn’t let her. She was 20. She kept saying she was sorting it, and she’d come on the trip but then wouldn’t get a passport sorted. We really wanted to get it booked but we had to stall for her, as she didn’t want to book/pay for a hotel and flight until she knew she could get a passport. I got really frustrated anout it one afternoon and text one of the other girls giving it all “I’m so fucking sick of this with Amy, she’s 20 years old it’s pathetic she has to beg her parents permission to get a passport, I don’t get it, it’s not fair on the rest of us having to wait, she needs to just sort it out whether they like it or not, let’s give her a deadline to make a decision by Friday otherwise we just go ahead without her?” And yep, you guessed it, I sent it to her. I felt bloody horrid as I would never normally be so vicious when talking about my friends, but I was just so frustrated.

Hatty65 · 22/10/2024 18:35

@InThePinkScarf She is the poshest person I've ever known - and sent a text back that said, 'Darling! Too kind..'

We became good friends after that, but I still blush to think of it.

I had a night out with my female work colleagues. Got in a cab and sent my husband a text “On my way. Really horny be ready for mega sex.” Pressed send got home and well I will leave that to your imagination. Got into work on Monday and my client (a very senior person) asked me how my Friday night was. I said it was awesome. He said check your text messages as my girlfriend laughed until she wet herself. Yes I had sent the text to him. I did have to tell my boss (oh the shame) who thought it was hysterical.

Text my Dad and told him that Mum was going to lick his arse.

Bloody predictive text.

I'm crying with laughter here .🤣🤣🤣

Years ago had a bad date with a man called Dominic. It was a one nighter I suppose (and certainly was after I did what I did!)

Sex was terrible. He left soon after and I immediately texted my best friend with the message 'ugh! Just hideous! I'm going to call him Micro Dom from now on as could barely feel it'

Of course, sent it to him didn't I?

Still go hot and cold when I think about it, 18 years later ..

Not surprised. That was vile. I cannot ever texting that to a friend.

mutleyschuckle · 22/10/2024 18:25

Accidentally sent my best friend a "hey look what you're missing" complete with revealing in the shower photo. To her credit she opened it & never replied. I then realised that she wasn't my partner & madly tried to make out I needed her opinion on my skin 😂
Messaging friend 1 about picking up kids/play date "I'll let you know when I've spoken to bobs mum. Dad dropped him over but I couldn't ask him because he never has any idea what's going on" sent this to bobs dad....
Text my dog Walker exactly what I was going to do when I got in & to be ready for it, instead of my partner. So glad she saw the funny side of that one

laddersandsnakes12 · 22/10/2024 18:21

When I was a teenager, I was messaging my new boyfriend and I asked if he wanted to meet up in town at the weekend. He said he'd love to but that his grandad was really ill and would be visiting him in hospital over the weekend as it was likely he wouldn't make it another week. So I messaged my best friend to update her, with the message ending: "please don't die grandad, that would really fuck up my love life for the next few weeks". But hadn't realised I was replying to him by accident instead of messaging her.

Luckily he saw the funny side but in those few hours where he didn't message back I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me for my stupidity and selfishness 😆. I thought for sure that we were over!

downhere · 22/10/2024 18:20

I was once on the receiving end of a text (SMS, which ages me) from an acquaintance that went something like,

"Oh my god just escaped from going for a drink with downhere, of course she is the best teacher ever. She is so full of herself!"

Taught me a lesson to be more modest 😆

DrDisrespect · 22/10/2024 18:20

Matched with a guy OLD, had one date. Went ok but didn't feel a spark but we were still chatting. Had one too many drinks one night and accidentally sent a very raunchy text to him including some very explicit material and the mention of an uber to him instead of my FWB who I was also chatting to at the time 🤦‍♀️

GiddyRobin · 22/10/2024 18:19

Oh God. I still cringe when I think of mine. Cheek burning cringe.

Years ago, DH had been away for a few nights with work. I sent him an extremely racy text about the toy I'd bought and how I wanted him to do particular things with it to me that evening.

I sent it to my boss. Of my new job. She was thankfully a bloody lovely woman who laughed herself silly over it, but oh my God. I could never use that particular item because the burning shame just ruined it! 🤣

LorettyTen · 22/10/2024 18:16

I got a text off my friend when I was in Asda. I replied Can't reply properly now, I'm busy shopping.
Of course I didn't have my specs on and later when I saw her reply "Yuk TMI"
I realised I'd actually typed I'm plopping.
