Mark Rowley also said at a conference yesterday policing is being undermined by prominent government figures who should know better after what was said by them following this shooting. Diane Abbott has since tweeted that Mark Rowley is more of the same and it’s obvious police are not being held accountable under his leadership 🤨

The Conservatives gave him a bit of a grilling about this the other day in parliament calling for him to apologise and back the police, he said some words but was rather cryptic and didn’t really apologise. I’ll see if I can find a link to the article.

He should have been gone years ago, he’s a disgrace. Deaths of young people from violence and stabbing a have increased and it is 13 times more young black men than white men die in London as a result of stabbing an under his watch. And what is he doing about it? Precisely fuck all it seems.

After a very quick google, I couldn't find numbers on shooting but I did fine that black people a at much higher risk of death in police restraint that white people.

This is an interesting point… how many black men and boys (and women actually given his domestic history that came out after trial) were direct or indirect victims of Chris Kaba, whether that’s death, life changing injuries or otherwise.

He was armed with a car. He refused to exit the vehicle that the police knew was involved in a prior shooting so the risk of firearms being present was of very high importance. He refused to exit said vehicle despite being ordered to numerous times. Chris Kaba killed more black people than that poor officer did.

Chris Kaba deserved everything he got and the streets are safer without him.

Sergii Kuzmenko is one, shot 7 times including in the head, while holding a knife and putting a child in danger. This was in 2022. I believe there are more but don’t have the figures to hand.

The perpetrators of Fishmongers Hall and the London Bridge attacks were also killed instantly, but they were Asian, not white.

I do recall most of them in the news after the names had been posted, but the coverage was minimal.

There’s definitely evidence that points to stop searches being more common on black people however a number of black and white men have been shot by police, I don’t know the full figures though.

I hadn't heard of any of these people. I could off the top of my head name a few black men who've been shot by police though. Anyone know how the numbers stack up? Are you more likely to be shot by police if you're black and this is the grievance? I believe that you are, or at least I always assumed you are.

He was in control of a dangerous weapon and very much prepared to use it. He was armed, even if it wasn't a gun.

Sergii Kuzmenko 'imminent threat to life of child' (no firearms or weapons found) shot dead at his home in Carlisle December 2022. IOPC report earlier this year cleared officers of any wrong doing. Pre-inquest held last month. No date yet for full inquest.

Giedrius Vasiljevas 'incident involving a firearm'. Shot dead outside his home in Dagenham East London November 2023. Pre-inquest due this month.

Bryce Hodgson 'broke into a house armed with a weapon' (convicted stalker who was banned from entering the road where this incident occurred). Shot dead inside the property in Southwark January 2024. No date yet for inquest.

Joel Stenning 'pointed weapon at police'. Shot dead outside his home in Knaphill August 2022. No date set for inquest.

Joel Stenning - Shot by police after he pointed a loaded crossbow at them, police were called out due to reports of him fighting with a loaded weapon.

Bryce Hodgson - Described as very troubled, had a stalking order preventing contact with ex-neighbours, went down there wearing a mask and ‘with an arsenal of weapons’ pointed a cross bow at officers.

Giedrius Vasiljevas - History of mental health problems, called police stating he had a loaded gun and was going to kill himself, police attended his address he was shot. His daughter made a public statement, did not apportion blame on the police.

Sergii Kuzmenko - Police called to incident with man with knife and two children in danger, two officers shot him 7 times including in the head, not much more info on that one. They were given anonymity while IOPC investigated and quickly concluded they had acted in line with their training.

Marius Ciolac - Turned up at a police station armed with 3 knives, mental health breakdown of some sort. Was tasered and officers used baton rounds and a stun grenade, when this did not subdue him he was shot in the stomach and later died. His family who live in Italy said in a statement after the incident they know he wasn’t innocent in this but couldn’t understand why he was shot. Police officers treated as witnesses by IOPC and inquest is next year.

First three are MET police, others are Cumbria and Derbyshire. No reports of unrest or MP’s speaking out etc… and none attracted a massive amount of media attention bar the initial reports.

@Bulldog01 since Chris Kaba incident in September 2022 a further five men have been shot dead by police officers in the UK. All of those killed were white men. Joel Stenning, Bryce Hodgson, Giedrius Vasiljevas, Sergii Kuzmenko and Marius Ciolac.

I admitted that I did not have the finer details,prior to leaving the post.He was unarmed! My Husband,retired policeman,has advised me,that he should of been removed from the vehicle & hand cuffed. He should of then been disabled by the police! Not Shot in the head,when he was not going anywhere!This was in my humble opinion, extreme! How many white people get shot in the head do you know of?

Yes as if "the community" all speak with one voice. Some of them are parents trying to keep their kids away from gangs and drug dealers like CK.
