😂this made me laugh! I could do with some printer paper if we can add that to the list...!

Yay for the manager at the council ringing you back. That's great that the mention of the MP has helped.

Sorry RaspberryBeretxx
but Doncaster council don’t use printing paper it’s classed as a luxury here so we send the request for what we want printing to the London council offices and there is a 450 day turnaround time xx

That's so so rude of them to say that you can't have the Ritz and just shows they're totally not understanding the situation. Just keep remembering all the people who agree with YOU (the police, your support workers, all of us!).

You did make me laugh though with "I've got her on the phone, the Ritz girl"!

ChoccieCornflake · 30/10/2024 12:29

You are so awesome - to have this much fight and strength in you after all you've been through, and especially after yesterday! You are getting there!

That comment about the Ritz is APPALLING - honestly, where is their compassion (and professionalism!!).

TealPoet · 30/10/2024 12:29

You are such a strong, beautiful woman! Do NOT let them get in your head. They’re projecting their sourness onto you because they’re messing up and they know it.

At no point have you asked for the Ritz. You’ve asked for 2 things - safe, and accessible. The police managed that last night. So did I. So they must be able to as well.

I can’t join the brigade from my bed but I can supply pens (that’s my nerdy hobby). I don’t like tea, though - will that get me barred? 😂

Imbluedalale · 30/10/2024 12:26

ChoccieCornflake · 30/10/2024 12:17

That's great they are at least escalating to a manager - you are winning!!

Probs because they don’t want to speak to me themselves . As soon as I said my name he put me on hold . I bet he said ‘I’ve got her on phone , the Ritz girl’ xx

Love that PeggyMitchellsCameo,
But it is Doncaster we are talking about, Doncaster town centre for that matter . It wouldn’t surprise me if the pens and pencils were nailed down and you had to have an 80 digit code to get one xx

Love this! Storm that council 😆.

@Imbluedalale , I'd try not to stress about them not liking you. I'm sure they aren't thinking they dislike you but they do want an easy life with everyone happy to go where they are initially allocated no matter how unsuitable. You just have to keep being that squeaky wheel and persist till it's less hassle for them to just FIX IT. We're all behind you every step. It must be so hard to advocate for yourself when you're feeling so low but keep trying - you need and deserve a safe space to live. We are all here.

I love the view! Looks peaceful. Enjoy your tea and hope you manage some chocolate or something from the vending machine.

Thank you RaspberryBeretxx,
I’m sure they just think I’m being too snotty as one of them said ‘you can’t have the Ritz’ I know that and it’s not because of them reasons but my reasons are an invalid case . It’s like knocking your head on a brick wall talking to them but I’m not giving up I will keep badgering them until somebody listens . And I will make it clear to anyone I speak to that I am in contact with the MP and she is looking into it . Everybody but them think it’s not suitable for me xx

Pens - on it!! We need to get a hacker on board too, to deal with the release codes! 😀

Imbluedalale · 30/10/2024 12:18

ChoccieCornflake · 30/10/2024 12:13

Yay! Black Tulip Brigade now has a lovely smell, lots of spoons and tea, all the biscuits, teabags and sugar, and one trouser press!

And some pens ! ( if we can work out the release code between us )xx

Oh at this stage I will take anything that’s not nailed down.
I think as a menopausal woman I can blame nicking a trouser press on my mental state.
I don’t need one. I’m just in a revolutionary kinda mood….

Just spoke to council they was useless as per usual I told them I am on communication with the local MP and they said hey will get a manager to give me a call back xx

You are awesome, you really are! How you are keeping a sense of humour in times like this is beyond me!

I am picturing the Black Tulip Brigade right now - smelling wonderful, spoons in hand (held aloft, naturally!), and someone nearby holding a tray with all the tea on it (as we need two cups each, and we only have one hand free, what with the spoons!)

Love this! Storm that council 😆.

It may seem like they don’t like you but it is more likely it’s because they know they have screwed up and with all the input from Police and other agencies/MP they are not being seen in a very good light at the moment. Their reputation has been tarnished and the people responsible have probably got it in the neck. Instead of recognising it’s because they have made mistakes, they are just projecting that on to you.
You have done NOTHING wrong so stand your ground and don’t allow them to be rude/disrespectful or push you to go into that hostel. You need a safe and secure suitable place to live.

Yes I think you’re completely right !
My creative support worker has made a complaint too .
I’m still on hold to them but not giving up xx

They’d be thinking who are all these women with the wooden spoons chanting and they all smell the same too !xx

I'm so sorry you had to go through this and you don't have other family. You're so lovely and caring, I'm sure in time when you get your house, you can build up a support network away from your abusive ex.

Glad you have a kettle and that you're remembering to take your medication. Try and keep hydrated especially if you're being sick and try some small bites of food if you can. It sounds like your body is just in shock with all the stress hormones inside it.

Sorry also that you've had to wait again for the council to call and they haven't. I think ringing at 11 is a good plan. Just keep breaking the day up into small bits and focus on the next thing to do - whether that's a cup of tea, take medication, go to the vending machine, ring the council etc. You can write it in this thread what your next thing to do is and what time if that helps.

Hi RaspberryBeretxx,
I’ve already got a support network that I didn’t have before and that’s all you guys . Honestly each and every one of you are amazing .
I will definitely try and eat something today I might do what @ChoccieCornflake does and make myself 2 cups of tea !
Im on phone to council now still waiting to get connected xx

@Imbluedalale I agree with @Apolloneuro about MP’s having clout. When I worked in adult social services as a social worker, if we had an email from an MP, we would prioritise the issue being raised so hopefully it works like that for you too.

More hugs incoming at you!!

Thank you ChoccieCornflake,
You are honestly so lovely and kind xx
