I’ve never heard anyone say it’s been a minute but it sounds annoying!! Whilst we are on this topic allow me a sleep deprived rant.

“It’s giving…” usually followed by something to do with “vibes”. Fuck off.

Hubby or Hubster 🤢

People missing out the I’m and to the. Eg. “going gym” 🤬

Instead of replying with a laughing emoji or haha saying “I can’t”. Can’t what?? Also fuck off.

Any Americanisms I.e. cops, trash, aluminium foil (it’s fucking tin foil), movies, elevator, candy. I could honestly commit GBH whenever someone uses one of those words.

I feel better now, thank you.

Today I learnt a new thing. I'm happy to hear of Kekri, celebrated on Nov 2nd.

I'm reading about it's history and I'm looking forward to celebrating and embracing a gratitude for good things.

The use of language is not bothering me as much now that I stumbled on Kekri.

It's been a hot minute since I've done any mooching.

Hot minute is definitely worse!

LostittoBostik · 16/10/2024 02:36

"Absolutely, and let's also stop adding "So" to the beginning of sentences for literally no reason whatsoever."

Only if we can also stop saying literally, when it's already clear we don't mean figuratively so there is no need for clarification

rainfallpurevividcat · 16/10/2024 02:35

I enjoy a pootle or a potter more than a mooch, myself.

user1492757084 · 16/10/2024 02:33

I've not heard of the minute saying, ever.

I'm sick of hearing "absolutely" enthuseastically chimed instead of "yes", though It doesn't make me lose sleep.

WiddlinDiddlin · 16/10/2024 02:07

I am quite fed up of 'it's been a minute' for 'something thats actually been ages', also 'shop the look'... that one can piss right off.

Quite bored of (particularly Americans) over use of 'with that said...'

Joining in as this one has been driving me bonkers for some time -

"Shop my wardrobe"
"Shop my collection"

Just stop! 🛑

Tittat50 · 16/10/2024 01:41

It's been a very long time since I've been around anyone saying mooch. I don't recall anyone saying to me 'it's been a minute." I might be living in an alternative reality though.

Whoever said bugger off or words to that effect regards ' bangs', yes, that deserves it's own thread. What even are bangs. Is it a fringe? I can't stand to hear the word.

Soonenough · 16/10/2024 01:37

I use the phrase moocher to mean a freeloader as well as mooching in shops .

J1Dub · 16/10/2024 01:36

I wish people would stop saying "actively" so much.

JesusOnAYamaha · 16/10/2024 01:31

The pointless aimless "so" came from David Brent. Twenty five years ago! I agree, it needs to stop.

Also, turning a statement into a question, either via upspeak or written as text. Eg "I'm 24?" Are you asking me or telling me?

BrandyandGinger · 16/10/2024 01:30

So, I can't even mooch around a bookshop, no?
Even if I've been busy and it's been a minute since I had a good mooch?

Falsenegative · 16/10/2024 00:37

Can we also please stop adding no to the end of sentences, no? It’s really, really annoying no?

Absolutely, and let's also stop adding "So" to the beginning of sentences for literally no reason whatsoever.

Once again, happy to beg, if that's what you all need to stop this fucking madness.

SnowFrogJelly · 16/10/2024 00:43

Eh

IdaPrentice · 16/10/2024 00:35

It's one of those irritating phrases that were spread online, like 'I was today years old when...'

Not as bad as the:

"Tell me that you're blah blah blah without saying you're blah blah blah"

Mooching is fine, minute is not. Bangs can fuck off too unless you're actually American.

Moonshiners · 15/10/2024 23:10

I love the term mooching. Not that I get to do it ever.

Instead of saying, to DH, 'do you fancy a mooch round the shopping centre' I asked if he would like a smooch around the shopping centre! He was up for it!😂😂

DappledThings · 15/10/2024 23:25

I only hear "it's been a minute" from my 6 year old when I tell her I'll do something in a minute and she takes it literally, counts to 60 and complains.

Is there some other slang use of it I'm not aware of?

Bellatrixpure · 15/10/2024 23:21

vibing or vibes. Hate it

IAKnowyou · 15/10/2024 23:19

JesusOnAYamaha · 15/10/2024 23:12

Mooching is a smug activity undertaken by cunts only.

Well count me in as one of those, as I LOVE a mooch.
