Anyone else just wish these xl bullies would disappear?

I know I’m not the only one and don’t think I am being unreasonable tbh but didn’t know where else to post this.

In the past week or so there have been five serious attacks in the UK but what we have plastered all over the news is the police apologising to a deluded xl bully owner, when he’s the one who failed to do as he’s told.
What kind of message does that send?

The other day armed police were called to Stockport because of a dangerous dog and three people were injured. There’s only one little article about it in the Star. When did this ever used to happen in this country? It’s not normal.

I just don’t see why normal, decent people should have to live in fear of these scumbags and their dangerous dogs. Nothing is being done, how can something be banned if there are exemptions?
When the dogs do attack, the owners get months in prison which is the equivalent to a slap on the wrist.

It’s like being in possession of something worse than a loaded gun or a lion. Nobody’s allowed pepper spray though - you can get 4 years in prison just for carrying it apparently.
If they at least increased the jail time maybe that would deter people from owning these dangerous dogs.

We can't just kill them though

Yes we can.

Of course we can

SlothOnARope · 14/10/2024 18:06

Yes we can.

Why can they be left to randomly kill people and stop them from enjoying walks?

It's like being in some weird video game, you never know what's going to jump out at you. A monster and its intellectually challenged owner, or a gang of knife wielding thugs on bikes.

Sick of having my life compromised by dickheads.

They really aren't. We just tell ourselves that because we eat cows.

Exactly. At least cats and dogs are usually affording a kind death without fear and pain. I am not vegetarian so not being a hypocrite or anything. Let’s be honest, if you eat meat, you don’t get the moral high ground. I think dangerous breeds should humanely and kindly be put to sleep. If they “snap”, their final moments won’t be kind or humane if they’re surrounded by screaming and being shot at by the police.

I don't agree with killing animals at all, @horseHorseHorse but cats and dogs are more sentient than cattle and birds, and it isn't fair to kill a living being "Just in case" It does need handled better though, we can't have these maulings and deaths continuing

HidingHereForTomorrow · 14/10/2024 17:03

It’s not ‘if’ it’s true.. it is true, go and do your own research into the intelligence/emotional capabilities of different farm animals. I eat meat now and again, but I do not delude myself that the animal I ate was not sentient or suffering.

I have a murder of crows who visit me for food, I give them food, they bring me gifts that they think I’d like. Anyways getting off topic now.

ChangedmyMindNotUsingMyRealName · 14/10/2024 16:54

You know what, come to think it, I found a little baby crow once, and it was so bright in the eyes and social and curious

HidingHereForTomorrow · 14/10/2024 16:48

Are you serious? You think cats and dogs are more sentient than cattle and birds? Have a look at Crows and Pigs.. Corvids have been judged to be far more ‘intelligent’ than dogs, and pigs have the emotional capability of at least a 3 year old child. Beyond that Cows and calves can be just as loving and playful as dogs, we don’t like to acknowledge that though.. because they are eaten.

If that's true then what the hell are people eating them for ?

This genuinely gives me the chills. I don't think I'd be able to smile and nod if someone were telling me this.

I didn't smile and nod

I told her the facts about killer kimbo, the facts that they can and do kill and they are dangerous

She got snotty and told me I was wrong-the media is 'scaremongering' and 'winding people up' apparently

I said we'd have to agree to disagree and I hope one doesn't turn on her/the kids (which I hope they dont)

She put in a complaint about me (the first in 8 years of working at my place) and I've not seen her since

Every single time I read of another killing someone,I check for her/the kids names

So far so good, but it's just a matter of time-we have had men (always skinny, weedy men) with them outside our place, unmuzzled and never in control

Part of my job is going outside with your food, and I'm laughed at for point blank refusing to walk past one (And I love dogs)

They scare the crap out of me-they are muscle wrapped in fur and those eyes-they have no soul

This loon has 3!

3 bombs that could go off at anytime

I agree!
Revolting animals.

And the dogs

Attelina · 14/10/2024 15:53

'She leaves the kids alone with them all the time while she's off cooking or going for a pee'😡

That is asking for it, no matter what breed the dog is.

My dogs are taken to another part of the house when we have children visit. I never leave adults alone with the dogs other than close family.

I work in retail and have got to know a lot of people (I love chatting!)

I have one lady who comes in with her 3 kids (aged 8/5/3) and she has 3 of these dogs (she takes them regularly to the park to meet up with other owners)

She swears up and down that they are 'soppy, loves kids and its the owner, not the dog'

She leaves the kids alone with them all the time while she's off cooking or going for a pee

Nice lady but thick as mince-its only a matter of time before she has two kids

Or even worse-none

This genuinely gives me the chills. I don't think I'd be able to smile and nod if someone were telling me this.

I saw a big cane corso though at the park and it was just as scary. No muzzle. It's head was massive. I was running, but I walked past that dog very slowly

I would bet money on the Cane Corso being the next problem dog.
Sadly there will always be a replacement breed for people that want aggressive status symbols.

For another post, it seems that the children are aged three, eight and 14.

makes me shudder to think about this

It's a complicated ethical problem, but there's no "Just" about it in killing an animal like a cat or a dog

And yet we kill thousands of animals every day. Including dogs and cats.

I'm fully on the side of if the dog that came after me and my pony had got me on the floor I'd have been badly hurt if not killed. As it was, my pony's boots were badly damaged and a huge chunk out of his tail.

ChangedmyMindNotUsingMyRealName · 14/10/2024 15:10

Maybe going forward people should need a license to breed dogs

HRTQueen · 14/10/2024 15:08

Of course the government can order all to be pts

of course some will be hidden and continue to breed and people will fight against it but at times governments need to take drastic actions

will vets want to comply maybe a number will not want to but if paid well enough I am sure some will change their mind

It would be ideal if the government would rehome them with professional trainers or something till they die out

Just put them all to sleep, why prolong the misery
