Things someone has done that suddenly made you weirdly attracted to them

I got to work this morning and I have a bit of equipment that I use that I always struggle setting up.

I turned up a bit early and put it on the table ready to set up. A guy I work with who honestly I have never really even liked as a person and am DEFINITELY not remotely
physically attracted to, picked it up off the table while we were all chatting before our shift, and wordlessly constructed it for me.

For a minute I thought he thought it was his and was very confused, but he handed it to me once done.

I cannot stress how much I am not attracted to this man but it was weirdly hot.

Please share your versions of this so I know I’m not a complete weirdo!

I've found my women. This thread is brilliant.

I guess I’d like to show off my DH as most things he does make me fancy him more…
Shares all household tasks despite working more, is an amazing dad, loves cooking meals for us, does all the odd jobs around the house self teaching himself online all whilst having a nice toned bod and forearms 😂

TheStroppyFeminist · 11/10/2024 16:17

Lol @Laiste at "do I like being a laydee" - ha ha

JaneYellow · 11/10/2024 16:16

DH casually asking if I’d like to know what my SIPP was now worth. Vaguely aware he set one up for me when we married 23 years ago. I gave permission to the firm for him to manage the investments (DH an accountant). It’s a huge sum. He just did it. Hasn’t gone on about it over the years. Sexiest man alive.

That sideways bunny hopping over fences they do.

I don't know what it's called but it always makes me feel i bit odd 😂

God knows what evolutionary advantage bunny hopping over fences has ?!?

HermoniePotter · 11/10/2024 16:03

Pulled me out of a really deep ditch he’d watched me fall in because of a speeding car on a country road then caught my horse. I just remember looking at these forearms when he was pulling me out then I looked into a pool of brown eyes. I was pregnant within the year 🫢

TragicMuse · 11/10/2024 16:03

Moving furniture.

Years and years ago a guy I knew helped me collect furniture and take it to my new house.

He drove the van, he manhandled all the heavy stuff ON HIS OWN. I'm talking heavy brown furniture - wardrobe, chest of drawers, my SOFA! He hoiked the whole lot single handed, then drove back. It was a lot. He was also only about 5'7" or so. The wardrobe was about 7' tall! But he packed quite a punch.

I developed a raging crush on him after that, my friends all thought I'd had a blow to the head and seriously questioned my choice but that contained power was irresistible. After some relentless pursuit by me he did give in to my charms!

It fizzled out pretty quick but I was like a thing possessed at its height!

On one of our first dates my now DH prevented a bar brawl.

We were sitting chatting in a noisy pub and i became aware that although he was still talking and laughing with me, something kept catching his eye right behind me, he kept glancing up past my head.

All of a sudden he was out of his seat like a flippin' bolt of lightening and going WHOA WHOA WHOA and getting between these two blokes about to swing at each other right behind me. Another guy helped too, but when DH told them ''Take it outside away from the ladies bro!!'

Part of me thought - ladies ... do i like being a lady? But mostly I thought ... ooooh 😊

When I was telling my personal trainer how low I had felt about my body after having a baby and how weak my core felt, he said in a calm, quiet and measured voice, "Your body has done one of the strongest and greatest feats you could ever do, bringing a child into the world. Don't be so hard on yourself". And from that day on, I have loved him from afar.

beachcitygirl · 11/10/2024 15:56

Years ago I had a hard day & my then completely previously unfancied flatmate said "I'll do dinner - go have a bath"
He didn't ask what to get
He didn't ask where to go
He didn't ask "do we have x ingredient"
He didn't ask anything - just did it & yes sleeves rolled up with lovely forearm

He then cleared plates away & did not stand around waiting for me to do brass band level cheering & thanking.

He just said ok, see ya later.

Massive horn for him thereafter.

Srsly, you'll have to pick me up with a sponge... 😄🥵

I was in Sainsbury's when a woman was looking at her phone and barged straight into me...knocking my walking stick from underneath me.. l was just about to fall to the floor when this tall handsome man must have seen it and caught me under my arms.
I looked up to thank him.. staring into the most beautiful deep blue eyes... my gosh that was a moment.😍
( The woman carried on walking oblivious).

I love seeing men being kind and soppy with cats (or dogs but especially cats). It's just so lovely especially if I hadn't thought they were cat people.

We had a builder who did a lot of work on our house. He worked like a machine, barely stopping and was quite brusque. Polite enough but very straight to the point. One day I was looking out of the window and he was carrying materials down the driveway when one of our neighbours cats marched down the drive and rolled over in front of him. He put all the stuff down and bent down and stroked and fussed the cat for as long as she wanted. It didn't make me fancy him but I immediately adjusted my perception of him from competent builder to competent builder + nice human being!

ItGhoul · 11/10/2024 15:49

When I first met my partner, he was a journalist, and I first started to fancy him when he turned up at a fairly chaotic incident I was working at. All the other press there were pushy and annoying and over-keen, but he was just lurking around looking all scruffy and cynical, being quietly observant, jotting things down in shorthand and asking incisive, clever questions in a really casual way that made people tell him things without really realising they'd told him things. Proper old-school crime reporter.

He's not a journalist any more but we do actually now work for the same organisation and occasionally his workplace demeanour still properly gives me the horn.

Picking up my DS from a party in one of those big community halls. One of the dads was in the kitchen with a pair of marigolds elbow deep in washing up water. I've never fancied a man more than in that moment 😂 if it wasn't for that incident, I wouldn't have given him a second glance.

Aha, snap! Used that particular brand of hotness in a best woman speech at a wedding once!

Micheal McIntyre did a routine about his wife telling him how sexy she found it when he reversed the car. I’m totally with her on that one, when a man just casually reverses into a really tight space, one hand on the wheel, the other on the back of the seat while he looks behind him. Bonus points for rolled up sleeves and nice forearms.

Yep, and every time I see it I think "what you're talking about there is competence" which I think is borne out by the rest of the thread!

In a slightly different context, my husband said something to me a few weeks ago which was totally and utterly unromantic but indicated to me that he'd noticed something about me which I really didn't think he'd have picked up on and I was dealing with on my own (and this was fine, I wasn't resentful about it) and then gave me loads of support I didn't realise I needed until that moment. Amazing.

Frivolitiesandfripperies · 11/10/2024 15:46

At the start of the pandemic, before we were all sent home (and clearly before we were paranoid about catching covid!) a colleague was testing out video conferencing between my computer and his.. never really looked at him twice beyond finding him a generally pleasant person to work with.. he spent ages working around me, leaning over me to change settings and adjust things on my computer, I developed a sudden massive crush that took years to get over 😂

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 11/10/2024 15:45

A colleague who I'd asked for help, but had been fairly unhelpful, then called and admitted he'd made a mistake in the previous conversation, and said that he'd thought about it and now agreed with me, and offered to help however he could. It's years since we worked together, but I still think about that..
I often think though, that that's a bloody low bar for men isn't it! Admits that they were wrong and is not a dick about it..!
