Things someone has done that suddenly made you weirdly attracted to them

I got to work this morning and I have a bit of equipment that I use that I always struggle setting up.

I turned up a bit early and put it on the table ready to set up. A guy I work with who honestly I have never really even liked as a person and am DEFINITELY not remotely
physically attracted to, picked it up off the table while we were all chatting before our shift, and wordlessly constructed it for me.

For a minute I thought he thought it was his and was very confused, but he handed it to me once done.

I cannot stress how much I am not attracted to this man but it was weirdly hot.

Please share your versions of this so I know I’m not a complete weirdo!

I was a single Mum with 3 young DC and a man in my street had no partner but his children were with him much of the time. We'd never spoken but our children had. I went to call DC in from front garden and they were chatting over the wall to this guy and his children about cereal. To hear the delightful way he engaged with them all made me swoon!!! 23 years later and he's been the best DH, Dad and Step Dad on the planet!

I was working on a rather intense project in a small group. We were having daily meetings and my role was to book various things in with suppliers etc after decisions were made in the meetings. It was a lot, but a relatively minor role. But every meeting he'd be like "oh, Pan, you have so much to do", noticing how much I had on. And then one day I had to send an email and I sent him the draft to sense check and he replied and said he'd gone to see the relevant person so it was all fine and could come off my to do list. Swoon. Also, fit forearms.

Soitwillbefine · 11/10/2024 18:18

I’m very calm and unflappable but on a few occasions I’ve been completely overwhelmed emotionally (think bereavement, huge professional stress). My DH has just very calmly put me back on track in such a loving, encouraging way.

I know it’s exactly how it should be but it’s still so nice to know I’ve got such a lovely man backing me up. Always find him v attractive when it’s happened!

I agree with a pp that the bar is low. It's very depressing how few can even meet it, let alone raise it.

Mine was in an office canteen, bunch of men sat together talking. One did an offensive impression of someone with disabilities and one man just sat stony faced, waiting until the laughter died down, said 'really not cool, Alex', stood up and left, took his plate back to the counter, thanked the sever and walked slowly out.

Again, the bar is on the fucking floor but he was so cool with it - the confidence to just do the right thing with class was very hot. Almost shy around him ever since.

Hot things: capability, integrity and...forearms!

Toucanfusingforme · 11/10/2024 18:15

I’m with the forearm bit. Watching my now DH playing guitar in public, watching those forearms and hands creating beautiful music. Total sucker for musicians.

Thewildthingsarewithme · 11/10/2024 18:10

My DH this very evening picked the baby up and popped upstairs then returned with him washed, changed and in his sleeping bag ready for me to feed, it’s the lack of fuss, the lack of words, I fancy him anyway but doing things like this daily, whilst also having nice forearms, definitely keeps the spark alive 😂

@Dramatic yes to the hi-vis, work trousers (tight ones with extra pockets/although grey joggers too!), and tattoos. It's a nightmare for me at work as I sort of work in construction so spend a lot of time on site surrounded by men like this 😬

Yes! He has tattoos too, something about the work trousers with loads of pockets for sure. Don't know if I could handle working on a site haha

I'm quite hooked on the farrier on Insta/TikTok - attractive, muscly, tattoos, loves animals...

The way he shoes a horse so competently, all while being nibbled and licked by a horse and looking fire at the same time... oh my!

And I don't even like horses!

I love a good parallel park.

ChocolateLemsip · 11/10/2024 18:04

Anyone else now wondering how many other women fancy their partner due to their competence?

MaidOfAle · 11/10/2024 18:02

OMG it's not just me who finds competence a turn-on! I thought I was some kind of real weirdo.

Sunbeam18 · 11/10/2024 18:02

Grey joggers??

When Rory Stewart talked about how he felt when people he thought were his friends and who had promised their support didn't support him as Tory leader. And I am a life long Labour supporter....

Yeah that was a good book, I too am labour through and through but he came off brilliantly.

A few weeks after I met DH I’d been to stay at his house for a couple of days. Took my dog and I’d put her and my bags in the car, said I’ll just dash back in make sure I’ve not left anything. As I got back to the car he had his arms through the car window, cuddling my dog and telling her to “ look after your mum”. Knew he was a keeper right there.

Ok, this is a weird one. The smell of fresh, clean sweat. Guy I work with goes to the gym a lot and then changes into a suit at the office. When he leans over me at my desk, I get a whiff of his sweat and it smells glorious. It just makes me think of strong, capable men hard at work!

Ugh, that's minging, does he not shower after the gym?!

Also Rory Stewart: talking calmly about delivering his second child (who arrived unexpectedly at home) and saying how amazing both his wife and the 999 operator were.

I'm not a Tory voter either, but that is serious competence

Yes, but didn't he say it was an easy birth or something like that, and I thought he should've shut up at that point! Easy for him, maybe!

Lollypop701 · 11/10/2024 17:55

On the other hand… off my tits on gas n air and had a very quick delivery . Thought the consultant who did it was hot as hell … competent, safety delivered my child, in his mask sewing me up.

went back as an outpatient and my dreams were shattered .. def gas n air goggles 😂

I do love watching a competent work man… in big boots and army pants fixing my boiler though

Combattingthemoaners · 11/10/2024 17:55

I find medical professionals weirdly attractive! Regardless of their age or gender haha. They could be telling me any old untrue crap but the uniforms and medical jargon does things to me. I have a bit of a crush on my physio as she keeps talking about different muscle groups 😍

MounjaroUser · 11/10/2024 17:49

So funny, @TheaBrandt. What would you have done if he'd crouched down and cried?

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 11/10/2024 17:49

My dentist was suddenly attractive. Usually gruff bordering on scornful, but when I appeared in horrible pain and in need of root canal treatment, he very quickly took charge, got me sorted out with antibiotics and a pain killer regime for a few days until I could have the actual procedure. He understood how I was feeling and was so much more humane than normal.

(I may have been suffering from Stockholm Syndrome!)

TheaBrandt · 11/10/2024 17:49

So many with Dh. He is a calm super clever competent one. I know if our family were trapped in a rainforest whilst pursued by attackers (or similar) his brains and competence would save us.

We were on a safari years ago when we first got together. Us and another young couple were walking to the dinner hall when we were attacked by a monkey. The other couple and me just automatically stood back while Dh saw it off. He proposed the following week and it was an easy yes.

If only men knew how attractive it is if they are capable - particularly if they do something without being asked to do it.

And without any fuss or melodrama.

Quiet solidity is so...sexy 🥰
