Things someone has done that suddenly made you weirdly attracted to them

I got to work this morning and I have a bit of equipment that I use that I always struggle setting up.

I turned up a bit early and put it on the table ready to set up. A guy I work with who honestly I have never really even liked as a person and am DEFINITELY not remotely
physically attracted to, picked it up off the table while we were all chatting before our shift, and wordlessly constructed it for me.

For a minute I thought he thought it was his and was very confused, but he handed it to me once done.

I cannot stress how much I am not attracted to this man but it was weirdly hot.

Please share your versions of this so I know I’m not a complete weirdo!

I’m curious to know what the female equivalent of competence porn is

Nurturing porn?

HighlandCowbag · 11/10/2024 18:57

If a man can make me laugh, he's half way to getting my knickers off tbh.

Also competence.

But more kindness to animals and people. My vet is quite dishy, but also very professional and quite detached from the ponies, always thought he was just a vet for the money. Anyway he has been looking after dpony for the last 6 weeks after oral surgery. Dpony hates him, always has. While dpony was still sedated and vet was telling me about aftercare, vet was stoking his face and scratching him absentmindedly. Then as he came out the stable rearranged his forelock (fringe) and said 'good boy, you have been so brave'.

Did it for me. Tho I got over it when I got the bill 😁.

This thread is so good 🤣

For me has to be on a ski holiday - this guy there I had honestly barely registered saw me struggling to walk back to the lodge with my skis one day and wordlessly took them from me, threw them effortlessly over his shoulder and strode off! Swoon!

@Dramatic yes to the hi-vis, work trousers (tight ones with extra pockets/although grey joggers too!), and tattoos. It's a nightmare for me at work as I sort of work in construction so spend a lot of time on site surrounded by men like this 😬

Snickers drop the knickers!

*Snickers are a brand of workwear a lot of tradesmen wear with lots of pockets

MrsLBrown · 11/10/2024 18:51

Cave man syndrome.

Sorting out the DIY/ construction for you (as opposed to building a shelter and fighting off a woolly mammoth.)

PuppyMonkey · 11/10/2024 18:48

Bloke I used to work with was pretty dull in the office, never really had much interaction. But come the Christmas do or other office party, he and I used to always end up dancing together in a flirty way. Was very 🔥

Caramellie3 · 11/10/2024 18:47

Totally get this when someone does something without you needing to ask. It’s all in the initiative!
My bf sent me a manly video of him fixing something in the garden, shirt off manly arms omg! 😅

Copperkryten · 11/10/2024 18:47

I got in a huge stress about too many jobs at home once, (in the days when I was married to a useless husband who would bully me for even getting stressed). I was telling my kids about all the difficult things I had to do. Without me knowing the lodger overheard me. He got his tools out and built the puppy pen for me (unasked) using his power tools. But what broke me was he swept up the sawdust afterwards. It was so overwhelming that a man could help me and not be a burden.

Sapnah · 11/10/2024 18:46

My sister’s brother in law was at her house once to see his newborn nephew (well mine too). On his way he emptied her bins. Totally unprompted. He’s not particularly good looking but my imagine ran wild for a few weeks.

Silviasilvertoes · 11/10/2024 18:46

I fell in love with my husband’s arms before I fell in love with him as a person. He works with his hands - think artist in metal - but he’s also very practical and there’s nothing sexier than a capable man.

BrieHugger · 11/10/2024 18:42

It was a haircut.

Picture the scene: early 90s, pale boys with curtain hair. I had a boy mate who, after the summer holidays, came back to uni with a sun tan and a skin head. A cheeky “hello babes” and a big smile made me fall in love with him instantly.

this is such a lovely lighthearted thread that I feel my “confession “ is not in keeping.

It is fair to say that for the last 10 years I have been in a loveless, emotionless marriage. It was 10 years ago my husband was in an accident which left him with catastrophic injuries and I a now a carer to him. Life is not easy for either of us.

So getting to the point, last week, I was driving in a rural, isolated area on my own late at night in the dark, when I saw an ex colleague of my husband parked up in a lay-by. I have known him for 30+ years and have never been remotely interested in him.

Anyway, I stopped to check he was ok, and I noticed he had a camera on tripod set up. He explained to me he was photographing the northern lights.
He took time to explain that my eyes needed to adjust to the dark then I would see them.

I stood there looking and was in awe. He then approached me from behind and put his arms around me and rested his head on top of mine. No words were spoken.
I have no idea how long we stood there like that.

It was so lovely to be held!

Also … there’s a big event going on locally that means there’s absolutely no residential parking in the evening once parking restrictions have been lifted. Driving around for ages looking for parking and just as I saw it another car pulled into it. This rough looking guy parked and just as I was about to drive off looking all dejected he asked, in a really strong Russian sounding accent if I wanted to park behind him. I said no it’s ok, the space is too small and he responded with “there’s no parking, I help you fit”. Russian guy then helped me manoeuvre into the super tight spot behind him and just nodded at me when I thanked him. Super hot 🥵

This thread explains the gaggle of women around the kitchen when we have a party, watching DH doing all the cooking and hosting. With his shirt sleeves rolled up

blueshoes · 11/10/2024 18:33

A man on a train reading a book (that is not non-fiction) is intriguing. Sometimes I google the title of the book to find out what it is about. A deep thinker, an intellectual - so rare these days.

Anyone who openly supports Ukraine. My cup runneth over.

Beebopwasthebest · 11/10/2024 18:31

DH is ex armed forces, he used to carry a bag of dreamies round the base to give to the stray cats he met. He worked in media and seeing his work in national press ....he rarely talked about the technicalities and details but he was sooo good at his job.

Someone being kind to animals. Like he could look like the back end of a bus but if he goes to move a snail out of the road or something, he's suddenly attractive to me. On the flip side of that he could be conventionally gorgeous, but if he says anything along the lines of 'It's just an animal', instant ick.

Totally agree.

My dh always moves snails out of the way of the path if we’re walking and there’s one in the way. ❤️🥵😆

If only they knew 🤣 They’d stop posting photos of themselves on dating sites with massive fish they’ve caught and put pics of themselves wearing marigolds and taking the bins out 😁

This happened several times with the same man.

I live with a condition that makes being in noisy places difficult for me, there is only so much nodding and smiling I can do, apparently when I get to that stage I get a thousand yard stare. None of my colleagues were aware of this condition.

I was contracted to a place where it could get noisy on the ground floor due to events that they held all staff had to attend. During one of those events a man I had little to do with and was roundly considered a difficult personality by all interupted a colleague talking to me, (I'd gone to the stare phase). He looked into my face, positioned himself besides me, placed his hand behind the small of my back, respectfully and without touching, he guided me outside.

It was quieter there and the fresh air helped me get my head straight. This prickly character was talking about something his kids did over the weekend so it wasn't weird and when he saw I was ready and normal he launched into a work conversation. It always could have waited for another time, I suspected he spotted something was wrong and knew how to help.

I was incredibly grateful for his kind consideration, and considering his normal demeanour it was a weird thing for him to do but so incredibly attractive. It faded shortly after each time but it is most unlike me to want to suddenly embrace someone and hug the stuffing out of them esepcially at work. I resisted of course but had he not been married with kids I might just have done it 😆

I did try harder to be more generous to him and would stop for a short chat rather than a curt nod or hello in passing. Turned out he was interesting and thoughtful but still outwardly prickly!

Ugh, that's minging, does he not shower after the gym?!

😂
He must do because he doesn’t smell bad! Just like a clean man who’s sweating. I’ve dreamt about sniffing his chest 🙈

My ex hired a catamaran for us (while on holiday) without fuss or performance and sailed us around a bay in France for the day. He hadn't mentioned he could sail and it felt like the video for Rio.

I find skills massively attractive. My first date with DH, we went back to his place and, while I was in the loo, through the door I heard beautiful acoustic guitar music being played. I thought it was a record he'd put on (this was the 80s), came out and he was sat gazing out of the window playing his guitar. Had to marry him didn't I?!

Hahahaha this thread is hilarious.

An ex-colleague in work made no impression on me whatsoever until the day he stood up to deliver training. He walked up to the whiteboard (this was quite a while back) with various coloured pens which he then proceeded to hold between his left fingers tossing each one into the air before effortlessly catching it in his right hand and writing on the board. It was the hottest thing I had ever seen.

Oh Christ, that's like drummers twirling their sticks before going into a groove <fuuuuuck>
