Husband farting is giving me the ick

What can I do / say to stop my husband farting so much. He claims he can’t help it but I can hear he forces them out and they stink. I’ve said it isn’t fair for me to breathe in that air, said it gives me the ick, asked politely, asked sharply, asked so many times for it to stop and it does maybe for an hour or two but then he will fart again when we go to bed for example and it makes me shudder.

I love him so much but it makes me not want to cuddle or kiss him let alone anything else!!!

Any advice??? 😷

He can check his own diet. My DH farts a lot (IBS) but he eats incredibly clean and they don't smell bad. I've told him if they did we would be divorced the amount he farts! But to be fair to him if something feels wrong he will go away from people to let it out because he knows that inflicting your stink on other people is antisocial and disgusting. Your husband needs to get a reality check. Making your wife smell your unholy colon reek is the fastest way to a sexless life.

And even if he genuinely can't help it, unless he has a medical condition (which he needs to seek help for) he can hold it in for the 30 seconds necessary to leave the room.

He can stop at work. Or at a social event. He is just being vile because he can.

Of course he can't help it. There will be a reason why he produces so much wind. Look at his diet.

Do you imply he has no sphincter control? He can't control gas production but every adult (and child from about the age of 2) can hold a fart until they get to the toilet. Farting in public is a choice.

Has he just started this? Because if it's new behaviour that he can't help he needs to address the cause. If it's new behaviour and you think it's deliberate then he's trying to disgust and offend you. Is he respectful and considerate in other ways? Because men who do this typically are not.

Is it after drinking beer by any chance?

Check his diet.

This is what I was going to say

If they're that bad it's pronanly some kind of allergy/intolleance

Will he be willing to start cutting out certain foods? my advice is start with dairy, if that doens't help try gluten

spicysugar · 10/10/2024 08:12

I bet he doesn't just do that at work or with friends. You're right,it's disgusting and shows he doesn't respect you. Obviously it can happen very occasionally or if someone is unwell. But there's no reason to do it so casually and thoughtlessly.

That's a bit over the top. Those underwear are horrible.

Well, so is forcing out farts.

BabyR · 10/10/2024 08:09

Check his diet.

Skirtandshirt · 10/10/2024 08:08

Have you tried telling him absolutely no cuddling, kissing or sex until he stops, and sticking to it?

Charcoal tablets? Special stink-absorbing underwear? Kill him?
