Illuminati, real or not?

PifandHercule · 03/10/2024 20:33

I’ve been seeing a lot of online content about the Illuminati lately.
Does anyone have any first hand accounts of their existence?
So many conspiracies these days, it’s hard to know what to believe.

My dad was a Freemason in the City, invited in. Loads of bigwigs. He said it was like a boring clubhouse, drinking and raising money for charities. He left.

😂 That one is so clearly bonkers, no need to question its existence.

It's amusing how the suggestion the late QEII was a shape-shifting lizard is invariably derided as crackpot conspiracy nonsense, yet her, and her descendants are only where they are because nobody questions the notion that they are somehow a specially chosen bloodline granted right to rule by Divinity and just meekly play along with it. Then there are the real weirdos who actually believe they are somehow superior and will gladly grovel at their feet.

Firenzeflower · 03/10/2024 22:05

What? The what?

Maybe read a nice bookinstead of going online so much.

Passivelypresent · 03/10/2024 22:05

I'm not sure. What I do think is, we have witnessed enough in the hands of "obvious power and control" so it's not that far fetched to me. The problem comes from people who believe everything they read in The Sun. The media is controlled by people who have power, to tell us what they want us to know, there are many other sources of information which aren't main stream media. Not to say that it's any more likely to be true, it makes for interesting reading. Some of it is so extreme you think it can't possibly be true. You never know. I usually just accept I never know the actual truth of what really is going on, and take everything from both sides with a pinch of salt.

But usually, if there's money to be had for a situation then its likely to be the other side that's telling the truth.

Sensational headlines and news stories are likely to divert attention away from something else going on alot of the time.

I just find it all very interesting but I do think there are some very dark people/ groups in the world and they aren't the ones you'd likely guess at.

Shinydress · 03/10/2024 22:05

It’s not that far fetched to believe that a group of powerful people are controlling things from behind the scenes

Anyone who has ever worked fairly seniorly in government will tell you. No-one is in control. No-one knows what they're doing. The idea that there’s a group of people controlling the whole world is laughable.

It just makes people feel better to think there’s a plan, that SOMEONE is in charge. They’re not

Well I do think that some people are possessed. Many will speak about narcissists eyes going black when they rage. Maybe there is a scientific explanation but it does seem common.

Yeah, I've seen Raiders of the Lost Ark, too.

Are you suggesting that Raiders of the Lost Ark was NOT a documentary?? 🙄

BoundaryGirl3939 · 03/10/2024 22:01

There are Freemasonic symbols all over Dublin. The average person is unaware of their significance. Hidden in plain site.

FifiFalafel · 03/10/2024 22:01

The most unbelievable part of any of this is that, given the experience of all mankind, anyone could think that there is a group of people with enough intelligence and organisational skill to A) run anything effectively and B) come to a concensus on what effectively means.

Even if they could do it the first thing they'd want to do is show off about it and tell everyone.....so we'd know about it.

I find the idea of the lizard people controlling everything more creative, personally.Grin

The Illuminati of Dan Brown novels c.20 years ago? Fantasy based in exaggerated mythology of religious orders that may or may not have existed a long time ago.

The Masons? They exist. They have a massive stone headquarters in London that has a slightly Soviet grandiosity to it. I know almost nothing about them beyond what Tolstoy wrote and the fact that they claim descent from the people who built the Temple in Jerusalem, but actually seem to be a more recent creation.

The Knights Templar? A medieval organisation that was originally created to guide pilgrims to the Holy Land, it became too powerful for its own good and was therefore got on the wrong side of Kings and the Pope, so they were eventually all arrested and the group disbanded.

Can you expand a little on the anti-semitic connection?

No, because anybody with half a brain and aged over 14 should already be aware of this.

Wonderlust233 · 03/10/2024 21:59

The illuminati was created to remove the religious influence from power. It was meant to be a secret society as well, hence why it is quite secretive.

BoundaryGirl3939 · 03/10/2024 21:56

PifandHercule · 03/10/2024 21:53

Interesting point, can you explain the connection with anti-semitism?

I know that many people believe that when the anti-Christ comes back, that he will mimick Jesus and also be of Jewish origin.

Perhaps the connection stems from that.

Stop reading shite on twitter,

ScrambledSmegs · 03/10/2024 21:54

Tangentially to the Illuminati bollocks -

Why does everything seriously awful (usually rape of women and/or children) perpetrated by the rich and powerful always get lumped together with ‘satanic rituals’? Thats what I want to know.

It’s basically giving permission to eye-roll. Stop with the devil-worshipping conspiracy theories, no one really believes it. The stuff they actually have done is much worse than this daft crap. They’re not doing it for satan, they do it because they want to Angry

missmollygreen · 03/10/2024 21:54

The world already is controlled by wealthy powerful people...

PifandHercule · 03/10/2024 21:53

Ketzele · 03/10/2024 21:51

Like most conspiracy theories, it's rooted in antisemitism.

AlmondsAreGreat · 03/10/2024 21:52

It’s comforting to some people to believe there’s a guiding hand behind everything. Even if their intentions aren’t honourable, some people prefer it to having to accept life is random, arbitrary, unfair.

Doesn’t mean it’s not nonsense.

Ketzele · 03/10/2024 21:51

Wonderlust233 · 03/10/2024 21:51

I have a close friend whose grandfather is part of the illuminati. He is very wealthy and never gave us any information.

He has many hidden files in the basement that we tried to access when we were younger. They were securely locked away in chests and we never got anywhere.

I thought a lot about it as a teenager but not in the last 15 years or so.

PifandHercule · 03/10/2024 21:50

NeverDropYourMooncup · 03/10/2024 21:36

No, it's bollocks. Largely Anti-Semitic bollocks at that.

You've fallen for the algorithm showing you multiple conspiracy theory videos because you've paused and watched a couple.

Can you expand a little on the anti-semitic connection?

It was in relation to all sorts of celebrities, not connected with politics as such.

Have you ever watched any "celebrities" on Tipping Point or the Chase? Thick as shit, most of them, even the newsreaders. Doubt they can find the door within help...
