...to think I have the loveliest DH in the world?

I'm sitting here in my well-worn and unglamorous pyjamas, laptop on my knee, working on my latest book. The sun is streaming in through the French windows, and spring has indeed sprung.
DH comes in with a coffee for me, and says..."You look so beautiful sitting there in the sun. I'm so proud of you, and the luckiest man alive."

Readers, I'm going on 75, and he is 76. I have glasses, wrinkles and gardening hands, carrying a little more avoirdupois than recommended. Beautiful I am not. Is he lovely, or what?

It’s very nice. It’s a lot easier for older men to be romantic once they give up their youthful male ego and realise they haven’t got a chance to get anyone else anymore so will be nicer to you

Or he could be totally besotted with OP and never wanted a chance with anyone else....

Lovely OP, enjoy 🥰.

Today my DH sent me this text from the office. Totally random, and sooooo like him (hearts and flowers he is not!):

I feel very grateful to be married to you.

In reply, I sent him a photo of his favourite apple and blueberry crumble I’d just taken out of the oven. True love, I tell you ❤️

Angelou79 · 02/10/2024 22:37

I aspire to this life. Congratulations OP

You’re beautiful in his eyes OP and it seems his lovely too.

pollyglot · 02/10/2024 22:31

Apologies for the gear-grinding,NahNotHavingIt, but my eyes were strangely moist ... probably the sun. I shall not use such trite devices ever again...
Yes, it is Spring in NZ, the weather is beautiful, my garden is looking lush, my cats are snuggled up. Life is good.

My husband is 74 and a lovely one as well.

Any advice for the rest of us?

Acornsoup · 02/10/2024 22:19

I love this ♥️

marriednotdead · 02/10/2024 22:18

It is indeed wonderful to be seen, not as through a classic beauty lens but as a whole person and loved for that. Congratulations!
I am in my 50s and past my prime in many ways but I am still told I am beautiful by my DP and that he cannot believe his luck at being the person that I chose, even though it's me that pinches myself every day at my good fortune!

PS I'm guessing that you're on the other side of the world from the UK as it's spring.

TurquoiseTortoiseToastyToes · 02/10/2024 22:17

He sounds like a keeper OP

Diversion · 02/10/2024 22:17

Just lovely! Please tell us about your books, I am presuming that as you say "latest book" that you have written others. Obviously you do not need to tell us the titles or anything, just a brief description about the kind of writing you do would be lovely.
