...to think I have the loveliest DH in the world?

I'm sitting here in my well-worn and unglamorous pyjamas, laptop on my knee, working on my latest book. The sun is streaming in through the French windows, and spring has indeed sprung.
DH comes in with a coffee for me, and says..."You look so beautiful sitting there in the sun. I'm so proud of you, and the luckiest man alive."

Readers, I'm going on 75, and he is 76. I have glasses, wrinkles and gardening hands, carrying a little more avoirdupois than recommended. Beautiful I am not. Is he lovely, or what?

I'm a similar age and know for a fact my DH is not the loveliest man in the world. He's bearable though, so I'll settle for that. 🏆For your DH.

Diversion - thank you for your lovely post. Actually, it's because of the supportive MN people, and especially @ScottBakula that I discovered the confidence to write. (I wrote a thread...to want to...a year ago.) Since then I have written three books and am 33,000 words into No 4. There are some extracts on that thread.
Most of all, however, it was the wonderful Mr Glot who has always told me that I have a book in me, and to get on with it.

Aww…❤️ so lovely to read this!

letstrythatagain · 02/10/2024 22:54

Love this post 💕

Today my husband to be (4weeks to go! Eeek!) sat holding my feet in the dentist for 2 hours whilst I had two fillings done. Yes I am a grown woman who is TERRIFIED of the dentist I'm ashamed to say 🤦‍♀️. He sat there and squeezed my toes to stop me shaking bless him. Some good men out there.

Overcompensating, probably having an affair, LTB.

😂😂😂

Lansonmaid · 02/10/2024 22:53

That is lovely to read. I hope you have many more happy years together.

My DH is lovely too, we've been together 43 years and he has a way of looking at me that melts me. He says he wouldn't swap me for the world.

OhcantthInkofaname · 02/10/2024 22:52

I'm going on 75 and I'm jealous.

Lovely post, OP. Enjoy the sunshine, your dh and the cats! 💜

It’s very nice. It’s a lot easier for older men to be romantic once they give up their youthful male ego and realise they haven’t got a chance to get anyone else anymore so will be nicer to you

What a shitty response. You really didn't have to say that.

Thiswayorthatway · 02/10/2024 22:48

No I have the loveliest DH in the world 🥰

FunnysInLaJardin · 02/10/2024 22:46

This is lovely. After all the shit life has to throw at us, he still thinks you are beautiful. I am similarly blessed and it is indeed worth the whole world

Today my DH sent me this text from the office. Totally random, and sooooo like him (hearts and flowers he is not!):
I feel very grateful to be married to you.
In reply, I sent him a photo of his favourite apple and blueberry crumble I’d just taken out of the oven. True love, I tell you ❤️

Love this...😍

What a weird way to tell everyone you're bitter.

OP this is the nicest thing I've ever read on Mumsnet. I love this. You both sounds like absolute gems.

Demonhunter · 02/10/2024 22:45

I love reading lovely things like this, it's always lovely to know lasting love is around and that you still can look at each other at any age and still feel like you always did 😀

pollyglot · 02/10/2024 22:44

He's also a wonderful cook...and I know how lucky I am.

💕💗 love this & hope my DH feels the same, although I’m more likely to hear something much more practical than romantic, but I believe he loves me🤣🤣

aurynne · 02/10/2024 22:43

Where in NZ are you? It's pissing with rain in most of the country!

(misses the whole point of the post)

Spring has not sprung.

It has in Aus and NZ

SauvignonBlonk · 02/10/2024 22:43

How lovely to hear that the man we want to exist actually does!
clone him quick!

WhimsicalGubbins76 · 02/10/2024 22:42

He may well be a very lucky man, but you’re also a lucky woman. This is so beautiful to read ❤️
Yes, yes he IS the loveliest man

Acornsoup · 02/10/2024 22:42

I have heard of these unicorns :) he is also very lucky ;)

pollyglot · 02/10/2024 22:41

DonnaBanana - he's always been lovely to me, even when he was younger and thinner and fitter. Has never looked at another woman nor raised his voice. He's wonderful with kids, animals and old people, too. He is one of those rare beings, a man of honour.
Sorry to have spoiled your theory.
