I’m not a fan of Netanyahu and the Israeli gvt but I have family in Israel. They have bomb shelters everywhere including their homes. And of course the iron dome. I wish Palestine had the same but Hamas don’t care about their own people.

It’s worth remembering that there’s over 69m people living in England compared to around 7 million people living in Israel. An attack on the same scale as Oct 7th would claim over 10,000 lives. Imagine if this was perpetrated by a foreign government, not some random terrorist. The Manchester bombings aren’t comparable. Both equally devastating but a false equivalence.

It is very upsetting that innocent Israelis were attacked at a festival but you cannot seriously think that Israel's action over many decades did not lead up to it. For many years, Israel has been illegally building settlements on Palestinian land, they were killing Palestinian children long before this latest conflict and had limited the movements and controlled the rights of Palestinians for years. Palestine had been called the largest open air prison in the world. The UN has been calling Israel last actions as illegal but did nothing to stop it.

I'm sorry, but even someone with the tiniest grasp or historical knowledge is aware of this.

There was a great documentary on iplayer interviewing former members of the IDF who admit their goal was eradication of the Palestinians long before the events that took place in 2023. I must add that anyone who cares an ounce about humanity should care about the whole of humanity, Arab or Israeli, black or white.
