Just been into the local cemetery walking my dog, and felt uneasy about a man who seemed to be watching me.
He went to one grave down the bottom of the hill, went to another all while watching me, he didn't have any flowers or nothing for anyones grave. He appeared to be talking to himself.
He slowly made his way up towards the hill towards me, at this point my back where to him. I felt really uneasy, so faced towards him and he was staring at me and I felt really intimidated he stopped at another grave and then faced me again staring. I felt is was not quite right and my gut instincted was going, so I decided to abandon my walk with the dog and run back to the car. Got in the car and locked myself in and come back home.

To be honest he was prob thinking this woman was staring at me, ,

Exactly!

ExhaustedHousewife · 01/10/2024 11:58

"Hello? 101? There was a man LOOKING at me in the cemetery today!"😂

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:58

@10storeylovesong It unnearved me him talking to himself and staring intently.
It didn't look like he was visiting graves, because he didn't seem interested in the various graves. More interested in what i was doing and where I was going.

i don't think it is respectful to walk a dog in a cemetery.
choose somewhere else.

Always trust your gut in a situation like that. I would log it with 101 just in case there are other instances of this. I wouldn't be going back there on my own.

For crying out loud!

Report to 101 so it is logged for future reference.

🙄

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:53

@ItGhoul I have been in this cemetary walking for the past 7 months, and always felt safe up until today. It would be such a shame if I would not be able to walk in there again.

@Northernlass44 I did think he had some kind of mental health the way he was acting. Just glad I got to safety.

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:49

@Kbroughton no it definetly was not the cyclist, this was 100% a totally diffrent man.

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:47

@YourMommaWasASnowblower no I live 1 mile away from the cemetary, and no nobody in this area. My dog does not have a bad reputation.
It was an isolated incident when he bit the cyclist many years ago.

ItGhoul · 01/10/2024 11:44

I'm not really sure what you're actually asking here. You felt uncomfortable/scared and you sensibly took steps to move away from the thing that was bothering you. That's really all there is to it.

Nobody can confirm to you whether or not the man in question was actually a danger to you. Statistically, he's much, much more likely to have been completely harmless. But you obviously felt scared and uneasy, and in a situation where you feel scared/uneasy/vulnerable it's always OK to leave, whether the person making you feel that way is a danger or not.

I've certainly moved away from people who made me feel uneasy - even when I'm 99 per cent sure they're totally harmless. Conversely, there's also been times when I haven't moved away from people who definitely did have the potential to be dangerous, simply because despite knowing that they could be dangerous, I didn't feel scared of them.

LocalHobo · 01/10/2024 11:44

I bet the dog enjoyed the run.

Northernlass44 · 01/10/2024 11:44

Maybe he's got mental health issues schizophrenia there is alot like that and uts very sad but that's why he was maybe talking to himself if you felt nervous you did right. I once as a kid walked my nans dog in a field and this lone dude was pacing up and down acting odd but my dog started proper barking at him and that wasn't like him and the dude got very annoyed but I legged it with dog

Kbroughton · 01/10/2024 11:43

Maybe he was the cyclist your dog bit and drew blood on 9 years ago and was following to ensure it didn't happen again.

YourMommaWasASnowblower · 01/10/2024 11:42

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:31

@nootcoffee I was watching him only because I didn't have my dogs muzzle on and he has bitten and drew blood on a cyclist about 9years ago.
I don't think he would bite now, but I try to keep him away from people he doesn't know.
He is a border collie. They are known for hearding/nipping.

I think you’ve answered your own question as to why he was staring at you here!
Your dog might have a local reputation.
He doesn’t sound gentle and fluffy!

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:35

@MissUltraViolet it's not odd to walk my dog in a grave yard, as there is no bylaw in this particular cemetary. I always pick up my mess, and I was only watching him because my dog is reactive, so I needed the man to keep a safe space incase my dog bit out. I had dogs muzzle but he was not wearing it at the time.

Maybe he was just visiting a grave then started watching you because he found it odd you chose a graveyard as the place to walk your dog, maybe he thought you wouldn't pick your dogs mess up so was keeping an eye on the situation.

Maybe he was minding his own business and realised you were looking at him a lot so he started looking back at you.

Crunchymum · 01/10/2024 11:27

How did he know you always pick up your dog poo?

I am another one thinking he was just making sure you didn't leave a mess!

yes i am now too

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:29

@helpfulperson no there no bylaw in this particular cemetary to say I cant walk the dog. It is used regularly by a lot of dog walkers.
