To be concerned about what my 5YO said

She is obsessed with talking about poo and farts at the minute and now keeps saying bum. But today she said 'I ate a bum at school today' and was laughing. I said 'A bun? What bun was it?' She said 'No, a bum, bum' I asked her what she meant and she said she was joking. Explained not to joke about things like that. She said someone in her class has been saying it. Should I be concerned?

I have two girls aged 6 and 4 and every second word out of their mouths is poo. I doubt your DD's comments would raise any concerns, and a little gentle questioning would reveal she's being silly anyway.

Ok, thanks. I was just concerned as she's talking about things like that all the time at the minute. Glad to know its quite normal for this age

This sounds like a typical 5 yo thing to say. I wouldn't make a big deal about it.

I would put it down it down to a silly comment she found funny. Mine went through a phase like that.
