Christmas is always a stress.

I don't like summer, particularly July as that's the month I lost my dad.

Don't like the heat and live in SE England so we get it badly
Always get more migraines and my son has terrible hay-fever. Daughter is like me and hates the heat too.

Also the constant daylight, bright sun and it's so noisy outside. All my senses get tired.

Love autumn and winter and quite like spring before it gets too hot.

SabreIsMyFave · 29/09/2024 16:13

I struggle with Winter. Cold, dark, drab days, hardly any sunshine or daylight, no flowers in the garden, and I struggle to go for walks. (Too cold and dank and wet!)

I find Christmas a bit of a struggle these days too, and I have sadly lost the Christmas spirit, as me and DH have very little family now, (parents died over 15 years ago,) and we have one sibling each who live abroad and we rarely see them. (Not seen them for 8-10 years.) I have half a dozen aunts and cousins who I see 2-4 times a year, and we exchange Christmas cards, but I don't see them between October-ish and February usually.

And our adult DC live 20-25 miles away, and prefer to do their own thing on Christmas day, and see us 2-3 days before. We would like to see them on Christmas day but do respect their decision to just be alone together.

My mother used to make me feel like shit if I didn't go see her 2-3 times a week and ring her most days, and I ALWAYS had to go to hers for Christmas day. DH's mother was more chilled and was happy to just see us Boxing Day.

But yeah, I never want to make my DC feel like my mother made me feel, and I love them to bits and have a great relationship with them, and as I said, I do respect their decision. And tbh I have got used to it just being me and DH now on Christmas day now.

I quite like winter, but hate Christmas due to the pressure to perform. I like the weather, the dark cosy nights, proper food and clothes. Christmas and heatwaves are the difficult bits for me.

IAmASpoon · 29/09/2024 16:09

I like all seasons as long as they don't just rain away. Least favourite month is January as it's cold but without the excitement of Christmas or even any school holidays. At least February has the decency to offer up half term so we could in theory go away for a week. I mean, we never do. But the thought that we could helps! Spring can also be hard work because of hayfever but love it otherwise!

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 29/09/2024 16:05

March-April there just nothing months, usually the weather is still cold or rainy and I get desperate for warmer weather.

The week before and the week after Christmas. So many empty chairs now that it breaks my heart to remember all the great family Christmases. So I get out of Dodge and go to the sun instead for three + weeks (retired now).

Other than that I don't mind. Even stormy wet cold weather or warm Summer days. It's just Christmas that brings me down and makes me feel so bereft and sad. I'm sure I'm not alone as there are many others who have lost loved ones too.

Yes I find it a sad time of year too. I'd love to head off to the sun and get away from it all...and the weather!

GettingStuffed · 29/09/2024 16:04

I find the change between BST and GMT hardest as they affect my sleep.

WiserOlderElf · 29/09/2024 16:02

I don’t really find any time of year difficult. All seasons have their good and bad points.

Toomanysquishmallows · 29/09/2024 15:54

January and February, I hate the darkness and rain .

Agree.

March / April. I really struggle with the lighter evenings when the clocks change - the thought fills me with dread.

Ironically I love the long summer evenings and also autumn when the evenings draw in.

Gettingannoyednow · 29/09/2024 16:01

February. I try to lean in to autumn and winter but Xmas is followed by almost all our family birthdays plus my car's MOT, and our most stressful time at work. My birthday is in Feb and by that point I usually cba to do anything. And I'm often ill by then. Whinge whinge.

muddyford · 29/09/2024 16:00

Between the autumn equinox and putting the clocks back. Now, basically. The dark mornings really get me down.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 29/09/2024 15:59

I also present to you November as the best month. The calm before the storm of Christmas. Often the best weather - coat and sunglasses weather. Not usually so much rain as other autumn/ winter/ even Spring months (or so it feels).

Has bonfire night.

The month when leaves are actually on the ground as opposed to the imposter October.

Seriously underrated month.

Tbskejue · 29/09/2024 15:58

january - dark, cold and often a time of crisis in my line of work. Trying to budget better now though so that it’s also not a time of no money

CuttySarcasm · 29/09/2024 15:58

For those who don’t like heat, surely this summer was ok then?! I seem to remember it was crap and rained a lot. I went camping and had my fleece on the entire time.
I find January hard, as the excitement for Halloween/christmas/birthday (mine), is done and it’s still freezing cold and dark for a few months!

Finalfiller · 29/09/2024 15:58

I hate summer as well. I have all the symptoms of SAD but have been told it only applies to people who get them in winter but the symptoms are the same anyway.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 29/09/2024 15:57

Marchish until Easter. Feels like such a slog!

Otherwise there are types of weather I don’t like - pouring rain, snow that means nothing works in this country, really hot uncomfortable weather like we’ve had with climate crisis - but not whole seasons.

Bluevelvetsofa · 29/09/2024 15:55

Most of autumn, the whole of winter and Christmas in particular.

These are my favourite and happiest times

HoppityBun · 29/09/2024 15:56

Summer, now it gets so hot

Abracadabra12345 · 29/09/2024 15:55

Summer for the same reason. Before there's a pile on of how rubbish the summer has been this year, I'm in the part of the SE that is always the hottest temperatures

Comedycook · 29/09/2024 15:55

November and December. Terrible weather. Dark. And I hate Christmas

Bluevelvetsofa · 29/09/2024 15:55

Itiswhysofew · 29/09/2024 15:55

Overall, I don't get stressed at any particular time of the year.

Toomanysquishmallows · 29/09/2024 15:54
