To feel slightly suspicious of dp

Hi, I'm looking to know would YOU be suspicious? I'm not really suspicious but maybe a bit slightly?

So, dp works for his dads business and has for the last 10 years. Dp doesn't start work until 9. Usually he would set an alarm for 8:30 which sounds really late but his workplace is a 2 minute drive from our home. And he's really easy going 🤣. His dad doesn't drive but a workmate would always collect him.

About a month ago dp started setting alarms at 6.45-7:15 getting up and leaving the house within 10 mins of those alarms. (Extremely early from before) I've been with dp 5 years he's never up that early for work.

He says it's because he's starting to give his dad a lift to work every morning. His mum and dad live a 5 minute drive from our home. That's not too suspicious. But the thing that's making me go 🤨 is he's leaving home in the mornings in his normal clothes. He says he gets ready in his parents house just before he leaves for work as it's easier?

He has a specific work uniform. He would always get ready here before leaving.

So he's started leaving the house over an hour earlier than usual and not getting ready here?

Would you be suspicious?

Need a more solid plan to be sure.

I'm sorry, OP 😞

Alicehatter · 28/09/2024 23:50

Hope it's the secret maccies breakfast theory! Suspect we won't find out though and this will end up one of them "wonder what happened to the poster who....." posts 🤷🏼‍♀️

Parkxyz · 28/09/2024 23:35

Could he be visiting a casino before going to work? Maybe he has a gambling problem that his parents are aware of.

Who are these people getting up in the early hours to have an affair. So much effort 😆😆😴

This bloke's up and out the door without even time to wash or brush his teeth.

I can't imagine how desperate a woman would have to be to want sex with him 🤮

Bunny44 · 28/09/2024 23:14

YouShouldBeDancingYeah · 28/09/2024 11:19

Perhaps you worked with my ex...this was me! Angry
I was suspicious but I was "crazy" and "untrusting" of course I was right and he got well and truly binned. For that reason OP I would be mega suspicious of this obvious change in behaviour...especially the watch and own clothes. Hope you get some answers soon!

Very sorry, I missed the update! Oh, @wwyt, how frustrating ... I'm afraid I'm leaning toward an affair with a neighbour - or even, as a PP suggested, at his mum's house (though I hope not - that would be beyond grim.)

Really very pleased you've got a good mate on your side. Wishing you - well, an answer, at least.

Did you end up following him? Any updates?

Yes, right here on the thread.

Sorry but people saying that’s a ‘very odd time of day to be having an affair’ ??? If people want to have an affair they’ll make time ANY time of the day. There is so such thing as an ‘odd time of day’ if you’re having an affair.

I read a thing about prostitution, which said breakfast is their second busiest time of day. I was surprised, too, but it makes perfect sense for all those "good family men" with regular jobs, who like to slot in a bit of extracurricular without looking suspicious.

OP, I'd pack the baby up and go lurk near his parents' house between 8:30 and 9:00. If he doesn't come out with his dad, you know at least that part of his story is untrue.

Aglassaday · 28/09/2024 23:00

Hope you’re okay OP xx

starfishmummy · 28/09/2024 11:29

Yes.

Your friend knows more about this than she is telling you.

I do believe this as well. OP partner's might be having an affair with that friend.

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 28/09/2024 22:56

Unfortunately I've known mothers who've covered up their son's affairs, all whilst being BFFs with DIL.
Being married or having kids doesn't protect you.
They'll always choose their son.

Hope it's innocent OP, but sounds very suspicious.

Louise303 · 28/09/2024 22:53

If they do not like or talk to you they would keep his secret hoping he will move on from the marriage. It could also be something else like is his mum sick and knowing how she feels about you is he not telling you.It must be a big strain for both of you with you and his parents not talking. If it is an affair and they know then if he has siblings or close friends they probably know and you may be able to find out something on social media. Likes or adds by parents neighbours I would try to find out about who the neighbours are. He knows you do not talk so would have no business on there street so it is more than likely a close neighbour. Or he could be thinking you are suspicious and parks it there to be on the safe side of you driving down the street. I hope you get your friend to keep checking before confronting him. If you do know any neighbours it would be good to bump in to them see if they say anything.

He's moonlighting as a milkman.

So, OP has disappeared?

MummyDummyNow · 28/09/2024 22:40

@cantthinkofausername26 remember this is someone's life, it's not entertainment.

crenellations · 28/09/2024 22:37

Maybe the DH volunteers as a school bus driver, working tirelessly to take rural kids to school, but by 7pm has worked 12 hours straight so has to eject all the kids at whatever bus stop is nearest before going home to OP?

This is better than any tv show. I'm dying to know what's going on!

Kate8889 · 28/09/2024 22:33

My most creative guess: OPs FIL is running an underground but increasingly popular poker/black Jack club to supplement his main business and OPs DH goes to make the drop off of winnings with OPs Fil every morning for safety, on the way to their day job.

Well I called a guy out several times as being a fake post and AI and that didn’t get deleted.

Loads of people say ‘I’m not sure this is true’ on lots of posts so I’m not sure why this is different. But I’ve been deleted again so I’d better not say anything else.

ps edited to say I had to google troll hunting as I’m so old I didn’t even know what it was. I knew what a ‘troll’ was. You learn something new every day 😳

What does your age have to do with it?

Troll hunting on the internet has been a thing for well over 20 years, unless you're new to the internet?

Update:

I rung dp he says he's at work. We rung the workplace his father answered.

Well, this is painful

Did you not just ask tio speak to him? There was always the possibility that someone other than your husband would answer the phone.

Posts can only be deleted if someone reports them.
You must know that MN isn't a pre-moderated site.

If your other posts weren't deleted it's because nobody brought them to MNHQ's attention.

You can't be that dedicated or you'd know that troll hunting isn't allowed, its pretty much the only rule
