Labour PIP benefit cuts

Stickytoffeepudding6 · 25/09/2024 21:01

Can someone help me please?

I'm absolutely spiraling. I've just read up about the Labour conference and everything about PIP reforms.

I'm absolutely panicking. I feel like giving up. I'm on PIP with mental health.

I do work. Part time.

Tories basically halved the threshold for families receiving free school meals and free prescriptions and the right wing press basically let it slide.

Labour suggest that we shouldn’t give rich people money to heat their houses and they lose their shit.

You do know it's not just rich people?

Unless you count a pensioner on under £12k as rich of course

I am presuming that governments do this to test the media response, or to guage how successful their ideaspolicies could possibly be, so they don't appear to resemble a bunch of clowns dangling upside down from the same trapeze.

They may decide not to go ahead with their latest decision for PIP, so wait and see what happens, you may not need to panic.

I think your post shows your views pretty well. They would be moaning whatever

Not exactly I'm concerned for pensioners on basic state pension. I mean if you meant to post that it's a bit far off.

Interpret it how you like. I'm sure you will anyway. I made it clear that I think the threshold is too low. To aid your comprehension, I meant that if the cut off point was higher (as it should be) well off pensioners who still missed out would still complain. I never said what you alleged I said. However I fully expect that you'll persist in claiming that I did.

EasternStandard · 26/09/2024 16:46

ilovesooty · 26/09/2024 16:44

That post doesn't substantiate what you alleged that I said. You really are scraping the barrel there.

Whatever the threshold was - and it is too low - there'd be whining entitled pensioners moaning about something being taken away.

Take this post. It could have been about many pensioners suffering over winter instead, which they will

Yet again you are unable to substantiate your allegation. My posts are there and are ample evidence of what I said. "Rowing back" on the other hand appears to be a skill you're honing quite effectively. Anyway, I wish you a pleasant evening. I think I'm going to do something more productive than pass the time arguing with someone who persists in alleging someone said something they didn't say.

Well I wasn't going to bother scrolling back but you asked so many times I did, posted below

ilovesooty · 26/09/2024 16:42

EasternStandard · 26/09/2024 16:33

You displayed your views and where your priorities lay for pensioners.

Row back all you want, you obviously don't want to be seen as you have been due to your posts.

Which has nothing to do with what you alleged I've said, but are unable to substantiate.

Your posts are there to read. It's easy to see what your response was. It was more about a party buying votes after all

So you can't point out where I've said that. Because I didn't. OK then.

It is an answer based on your posts. If you don't want them to come across as they do feel free to not prioritise what you did.

That's not an answer. You said I didn't care about people on basic pensions who've had the WFA withdrawn. Please tell me where I said that.

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:28

@ilovesooty i'm not bad mouthing anyone, like I said my neighbours are all lovely people.
I have broached the subject of work with some of them in conversation. Not one of them got offended.
How is suggesting someone works bad mouthing?

ilovesooty · 26/09/2024 16:27

Absolutely but a lot genuinely can't. I work part time but the reality is I'm a pretty shit employee. I take a significant amount of time of work due to illness, appointments or when iv been hospitalised, or surgeries. This year alone iv been admitted 4 times apart from one which was for 3 days for surgery all the others where over 2 weeks stay. Others have to then step up and cover these shifts. And that's just my physical health. When it's my mental health and I'm manic, suicidal or worse homicidal it's a nightmare. And theirs lots of people a lot more ill then me you really want to be around them walking on eggshells when their having an episode and they turn violent. Covering their shifts most weeks because this is the reality.

And just to add to this I currently have 9 consultants across 3 trusts I'm under the cmht iv been sectioned multiple times and I still had to fight to get pip even with all these medical professionals backing me 100s and 100s of pages of medical evidence. So I can absolutely guarantee you that people are not getting pip for back ache

ilovesooty · 26/09/2024 16:25

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:18

@ilovesooty like I said I have lived round here 20 years and there is no excuss why these fit and able people should not do some kind of work.

You've had a lot of time to spy on them and compile your evidence. If you think they're claiming fraudently and you have years worth of evidence, report it. I wonder what those "nice people" would think of a neighbour who is pleasant to their faces yet badmouths them online?

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:25

@Differentstarts I know a lot of people are genuine with illness and I send my best wishes to you, and well done for doing part time with all your conditions.

EasternStandard · 26/09/2024 16:22

If there are people such as those in the pp what happens next?

Idk how you act punitively towards some and not others

Any ideas, maybe there are some

TigerRag · 26/09/2024 16:19

How do some people know so much about their neighbours and whether they can really work? Yes I know my neighbour has PTSD but nothing more. (Because it has nothing to do with me)

ilovesooty · 26/09/2024 16:18

EasternStandard · 26/09/2024 15:53

There was a full stop there. You can look up their definition if you are interested.

Labour is linked to unions and have already shown priority with payments.

If your sympathy stops for pensioners because you know some people and you don't care about those on basic state pensions who are losing the WFA, then the same lack of sympathy could come round for benefit claimants

Do point out where I've said I don't care about people on basic pensions who've had the WFA withdrawn.
