To ask how long can you all keep it tight before you need a blow out?

Only because after a whole Sumer of keeping it tight and responsible and the return to school stuff I am ready to drop the plough and cut loose. It feels like long enough.

An I unreasonable to say there is a limit on how long you can be good and work hard before you go mad?

DD has gerbils. I think they're mine really now tbh.

I want their life.

The excitement over a toilet roll tube! And they are so thrilled when it's a kitchen roll tube!

Something pretty trivial we can take seriously when we are drunk. North vs south, something like that,
runny porridge vs thick porridge
should people own cheese knives?
are cats or dogs better?
are people in fancy cars generally knobs?

nothing serious I think. Not Palestine/israel!

Let’s go porridge. I have strong feelings about that 😂

I don’t have the health like I used to
Parkinson’s at 62, 7 years in, affecting me more these days

Blackgoeswitheverything · 01/10/2024 21:35

I’ve got one mouse friend, he’s called Fred. I rescued him from the garden pond.

Kenclucky · 01/10/2024 21:29

WhiteLily1 · 19/09/2024 07:58

Completely with you OP.
I often feel the same way- I have mice friends who love a catch up over dinner, wine, coffee, brunch etc but it just doesn’t always hit the spot.
No one seems to feel the same and most friends just claim they are tired or too old for all that or like an early night.
I think, looking deeper I miss the freedom and fun and hedonistic feeling of youth. When going crazy was normal, expected and we used to laugh and laugh, there were hardly any responsibilities

I'd like some mice friends.

We could be whirling dervish rattific mice and scamper round cutting loose, dropping our teeny tiny ploughs everywhere.

Blackgoeswitheverything · 01/10/2024 21:27

@Coatsoff42

No I’ve done the sensible thing with the crumpets and pruners. We’ll crawl through and draw nobbly knees and todgers on the neighbours patio with chalk (they always ignore me anyway) then off down the pub at the end of the road for cheese crisps and totty watching in the corner of the pub.

So now I gotta cut loose
Footloose
Kick off the Sunday shoes

Great, now I'm going to go to bed singing this! 🙈

Me too 😂

glittercunt · 18/09/2024 23:11

I totally hear this.

Though I'd probably go a bit wickerman and cause a scandal or two in the process.

I think I'm very overdue a singsong and a scrap.

I'm off to get my flaming torch!

Coatsoff42 · 01/10/2024 21:09

@Blackgoeswitheverything
lets burn the old fence panels on a bonfire and run naked through the gap they left behind.
should we wee in the neighbours garden in the dark? Or draw something in weed killer on the lawn?

No we’ll fix the fence and eat a crumpet because we are sensible.

I need a blow out please but all I’ve had is a blow down of my garden fence. The biggest excitement today was fixing that and eating crumpets. Boring. Boring.

Coatsoff42 · 18/09/2024 23:17

Like singing in public and a big fucking row with someone. just the opposite of my everyday super well behaved persona.

Here for you Coats. What are we fighting about?

TrtseHkpr · 29/09/2024 19:37

I completely understand, OP. I'm having a shit time at work and last night drank all the wine and held a solo kitchen disco until 2am. DH fled to bed in terror at 10 pm, and today I feel so much better 😁

PotatoLove · 21/09/2024 10:07

Crack open some Mead and let yourself go 🤣

malificent7 · 21/09/2024 09:38

I say “ hey Siri “play …and sing along very loudly do a dance and hope the dog doesn’t join in .

Soosi · 21/09/2024 01:09

Coatsoff42 · 20/09/2024 23:41

@ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea
maybe, I do really like my friends, they are all very happy with a more low key social life, that’s why I asked here.

I don’t like the idea of going mad on the dancefloor and someone filming it. Thats a bit of a spontaneity crusher.
Hen parties in general are a real mixed bag of who’s invited.

OP posts:
ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 20/09/2024 23:34

Hen parties are super judgey and documented.

I just meant go out with your mates, have a few drinks and a laugh . Sounds like you need some new friends, or possibly a different view on life in general . That's twice you've referred to your life being photographed/documented. It all sounds a little too inauthentic.

Coatsoff42 · 19/09/2024 07:55

I do have a DH, he is very content in his life and does not feel any need to cut loose. And my friends seem happy enough with a couple of glasses of wine and a catch up.

But I feel like I want to go to a rave, or a carnival, or be a whirling dervish and get out of my head and stop worrying about being a good parent and nice person all the time.

I totally get what you’re saying! I feel the same. Would love an opportunity to go a bit wild. But there don’t seem to be any after a certain age.

ClassyJen · 20/09/2024 23:17

I feel what you really need is an invite to a traditional brandy-fuelled gypsy party, with whirling dancing around a fire, increasingly pacy folk violins, top hats, full skirts, bare feet barking dogs, piebald ponies and an old man cleaning a pistol. Or just google local wetherspoons.

PinkStingray · 20/09/2024 22:57

I put loud music and dance around the house.
Weight lifting also helps, nothing like doing some squats with heavy weights to spend some pent up energy.

anxioussister · 20/09/2024 21:42

Totally understand this. After after three week of PTA and parent rep meetings, bed times, reading practice, piano practice, homework, batches of overnight oats + ironing school uniform I get itchy…

Then I go and drink a too much wine with my favourite former-party-girls-turned-pretend-grown-up-school-mums - sometimes it’s on a sofa, sometimes we go out and dance on tables. Then we wake up and feel hideous and swear we’ll be grown up forever now. And we are for a while - but then we start itching again... Everyone’s tolerance cycle is different - I think I have to go and be silly about once every 6-8 weeks - and if I don’t then DH sends me because I get disorganised and grumpy…
