P Diddy arrested

poppyzbrite4 · 17/09/2024 11:04

P Diddy has been arrested on unspecified federal charges. There have been two raids on his properties relating to sex trafficking. He's also faced a series of allegations of sexual abuse including from his ex Cassie. There was CCTV evidence of him physically assaulting her and she claims she was raped and trafficked by him.

Other women have come forward accusing him of various offences including sexual assault. I'm wondering why these men get away with their criminal behaviour for so long. Why after #metoo are women being sexually abused by powerful men and what can be done about it?

People must have known what Diddy was doing for years, why didn't people come forward?

Do you understand those who observed Jimmy Saville raping children in hospitals as well

Nobody observed this. You can deplore what he did without being a twit.

Fame & money = power.

Look what Trump gets away with.

Well he was friends with Trump. These people hate women.

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/09/2024 23:49

People did speak out and they were silenced @poppyzbrite4. They were threatened with violence. They were threatened by lawyers. Their careers were ended. They were bought off.

Jimmy Saville and the @MeToo movement could have been a watershed moment in the treatment of women in the entertainment industry and across society. Unsurprisingly that's not how it worked out.

HRTQueen · 17/09/2024 22:59

poppyzbrite4 · 17/09/2024 12:45

Of course it's a justification. People like Saville got away with mass sexual abuse because people didn't speak out. They were all trying to protect themselves, meanwhile he was a prolific sexual predator. The same has happened here, yet again.

People did speak out about Savile

he was more powerful, he was threatening and no doubt held secrets

Epstein held secrets and was a powerful bully

Diddy the same

and we have been recently hearing about Huw Edward’s being a bully

yet those that really are in a position to take them down then a blind eye why because of money they are all successful men who use their powerful positions knowing they can get away with it

MasterOfOne · 17/09/2024 22:54

Whew OP - you literally asked "why didn't people come forward?"

Then attack posters for responding to that question. Not justifying, just explaining their perspective on the "why" question you posed.

This is a serious topic - turn your anger to the people that require it .

EarthaKittsVoice · 17/09/2024 22:47

Wendy Williams spoke out on Puffy on her radio show, probably late 1990s/early 00s. Puffy got her sacked. Puffy has ended people's lives, their livelihoods etc. Regular folks didn't really have a chance. Puffy played on their dreams and took advantage while the public and the music industry looked on. In the Music Industry some of this stuff is every day shit.

As a PP has referenced - this guy has been recorded speaking on things that he does and the TV production companies played the footage to the world. All the MTV Making the Band episodes and all the rest.

People did speak out on Saville but they were hushed. The police couldn't do anything, many people protected him and doing so means they were protecting themselves. Their jobs and their privilege in society.

The same with Puffy. People have been speaking on his criminal behaviour since the 1990s and no one took them seriously. This happened in North America, to mostly black victims, most likely regular people who are not rich so no they didn't have a chance for justice at that time. When Cassie served Puffy last year with her lawsuit, again, a lot of people were defending Puffy and asked why didn't Cassie leave she's only after the money. It is/was ridiculous.

Why are women being used and abused today, like yesterday, and throughout history? Because no one really cares. They just talk, say the right things etc but there is little actual action in the moment. Not everyone wants to step in when they see something happen. They don't want to report it to the police. They hope someone else will do it. I'm not saying this is right, it's just what I see.

I don't think any of us are worthy to post on your thread. You seem outraged at the prospect that people 'didn't speak up' against JS, pDiddy, and have managed to show your ire for 'gangsta' rappers all in one thread. When you're done righting the wrongs of the world do check back in to let us know how it went!

I'll PM you. Thanks for dropping in.

Two words. Money and power.

AcrossthePond55 · 17/09/2024 22:04

It's not just that Diddy has wealth and influence in the music/entertaiment biz that's kept people quiet, this man also has a lot of connections with, shall we say, 'shady' individuals.

He's been doing this same shit since day one and other people with power who could have done something have looked the other way. It took one brave woman to stand up and say "This person abused me" and file a lawsuit. I hope he gets what he so richly deserves.

There a difference in 'arrested' in the UK and the US. In the US 'arrested' means they have probable cause and you will be charged. So this is serious shit he's in. In the UK I believe people can be 'arrested' and just brought in for questioning without probable cause. At least that's what I picked up from 'Line of Duty', lol.

Bail is denied because he's a flight risk and because he has the 'means' to continue his crimes clandestinely and to try and influence/intimidate witnesses.

Riverrocksinastream · 17/09/2024 21:54

I am surprised, I was sure he would get bail, so glad I was wrong. No doubt his lawyers will continue to try to get him out on bail though.

Hope his victims finally get justice.

TortillasAndSalsa · 17/09/2024 21:41

He has been denied bail and will be in jail until his trial starts. I'm glad he's not allowed bail. He's a monster

EasternStandard · 17/09/2024 19:06

Just heard some detail on BBC world service, sounded horrendous

Struggling with some of the stuff lately. This, the Miss Switzerland crime which was unbelievably abhorrent, the court case for the cross bow case, Edwards messaging

So much hideous stuff

Riverrocksinastream · 17/09/2024 18:51

Other women have come forward accusing him.

its other women AND men who have accused him of trafficking etc.

Riverrocksinastream · 17/09/2024 18:48

He has been charged with three crimes - racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. Some of the details are horrendous.

The rumours about him have been doing the rounds for years on SM, he has the money to pay off his victims, the ex girlfriend who brought claims against him, dropped them after a payoff, subsequently there was video of him violently assaulting her.

Look at his circle of friends in high places, easy to understand why it was better to take a payoff than push forward with allegations. His buddies in the entertainment industry were mega influential, the likes of Oprah, Tyler Perry, Weinstein, Mariah Carey, lots of influence there, then add his posse of henchmen into the mix, probably paying off crooked cops on top of it, who would feel empowered enough to go up against that?.

In many ways, it's refreshing to know, thanks to SM, the chickens eventually come home to roost. Hope it is a house of cards which brings others down with him.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 17/09/2024 14:21

It all comes down to money.
Everything is for sale. Everything.

It's a sick world we live in.

Startingagainandagain · 17/09/2024 13:28

Unfortunately it is the usual story:

-Famous man makes a lot of money for a lot of people so he is indulged and protected.

-Famous man uses his wealth and power to manipulate and abuse vulnerable people/covers up his lifestyle

It is relentless in the news at the moment with: Andrew Tate, Huw Edwards, Neal Gaiman, P Diddy...

Not to mention the fact that even average men get away with raping and abusing women and girls every day as shown by the low rates of successful prosecutions in this country.

Didn't Dionne Warwick suggest Snoop needed to think about how his daughter might feel about his attitude towards women?

Not just him but a few rappers from the 90s:

In the new CNN film Dionne Warwick: Don’t Make Me Over, the “Heartbreaker” singer and Snoop recalled a time when she set up a meeting with a group of prominent ’90s rappers after deciding she’d had enough of the misogynistic lyrics notoriously present in the decade’s rap canon. The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” artist, Suge Knight and more were invited to arrive at her home no later than 7 in the morning — a prospect so intimidating, Snoop says he and his peers were all in her driveway by 6:52 a.m.

“We were kind of, like, scared and shook up,” Snoop said. “We’re powerful right now, but she’s been powerful forever. Thirty-some years in the game, in the big home with a lot of money and success.”

Once they arrived, the rappers were confronted by Warwick, who demanded they call her a “b—h” to her face. After all, that was the term many of them had been using to describe women in their lyrics.

“These kids are expressing themselves, which they’re entitled to do,” Warwick recalled thinking at the time. “However, there’s a way to do it.”

“You guys are all going to grow up,” she told the group. “You’re going have families. You’re going to have children. You’re going to have little girls, and one day that little girl is going to look at you and say, ‘Daddy, did you really say that? Is that really you?’ What are you going to say?”

I love the fact that these tough gangsters arrived at 6:52.

Snoop Dogg says this singer ‘out-gangstered’ him | CNN

Gangsta rap dominated the music scene in the ’90s, and then one legendary singer’s intervention forever changed the genre.

No idea. Could be any one of these scumbags whose disgusting treatment of women is seen as adorable. Like Snoop Dog who was a pimp and calls women hoes and bitches but is suddenly a great character.
