P Diddy arrested

P Diddy has been arrested on unspecified federal charges. There have been two raids on his properties relating to sex trafficking. He's also faced a series of allegations of sexual abuse including from his ex Cassie. There was CCTV evidence of him physically assaulting her and she claims she was raped and trafficked by him.

Other women have come forward accusing him of various offences including sexual assault. I'm wondering why these men get away with their criminal behaviour for so long. Why after #metoo are women being sexually abused by powerful men and what can be done about it?

People must have known what Diddy was doing for years, why didn't people come forward?

@foodforclouds

I'm not naive, I know that powerful men are given carte blanche to do what they like. It's evident from Savile, Fayed, Diddy, Kelly, Epstein, Weinstein and so on. I'm questioning why, in the aftermath of #metoo that it's still going on, that people still aren't speaking out and that people are still colluding with predators.

People were shocked following the revelations of not only Savile's proclivity, but by the fact that people knew and did nothing. Those that knew included the police.

I'm not blaming victims, after all, we're all aware that victims are often dismissed. I'm blaming those that turned a blind eye and let women and children get abused and raped for decades.

Op, with respect, I think you’re being naive. The people he victimised went to police hospitals etc, nothing happened. What could Eminem do other than mention it publicly, via lyrics, if that’s what he chose? 50 Cent has been saying things for longer than when the allegations surfaced full force.
another example - Trent Reznor of NIN did alert the world to what a rapist Marilyn Manson is. Evan Rachel Wood, in 2021, disclosed publicly the abuse he put her under. Loads of accusers came forward, Police opened investigations, criminal charges are pending.

he’s touring again.
R Kelly married a 15 yo, took many years and many alarms being sounded for him to face justice.
and so on.
it’s systemic. As many above have said.

I've been doing some digging and 50 Cent has apparently been talking about Diddy for a while. He said that the reason celebrities didn't speak out was because many were involved:

“Some of them were involved, at the parties and enjoyed themselves, so they don’t know what the fuck is on tape or what’s not on tape, so they’re not going to say anything because they might have had too much fun.”

Edited

I think Netflix has signed a deal with 50 cent on this

Eminem, 50 Cent, Jaguar Wright.. to name a few.

Eminem has mentioned Diddy in some of his songs, 50 Cent started speaking out when Diddy's house was raided though has accused Diddy of murder in the past. I believe Wright has been on social media talking about Diddy.

Evidently none of that was enough because he's been predating on people for decades and his abuse was well known in the music industry and in celebrity circles.

My point being that people actively colluded with him, he had staff procuring drugs and prostitutes. He was seen beating up his girlfriend, he was openly drugging and raping women and children.

Mentioning a prolific sexual predator who has ruined lives in some lyrics isn't enough. Very powerful people knew what Diddy was doing and turned a blind eye. Many of them were guilty of attending his after party rape fests.

People did speak out. The lawyer representing the 120 individuals who are now suing him stated that over half of them went to police and / or hospital after what he did to them. It didn't get them very far at the time, did it.

Plus ça change...

Of course it's a justification. People like Saville got away with mass sexual abuse because people didn't speak out. They were all trying to protect themselves, meanwhile he was a prolific sexual predator. The same has happened here, yet again.

I went down the Diddy rabbit hole today on Twitter. My God it's horrific. There's a young woman, Ally Carter who claims to have been trafficked by Child Protection Services. What she describes is so so appalling. And the men she names...I'm not going to write it on here, you can see her videos on Twitter. And, I believe her.

Many do reading the comments. I thought it couldn't be worse than Epstein but it is.

It also appears the NYPD have really had enough of p Diddy and his lies - he tried to bribe his driver to take the fall in 1999 shooting;

abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=109416&page=1

He then obviously succeeded taking down Shyne instead.

Enough is enough, he will go down and I think in part it's due to everything else he has done prior to the freak offs that they're too late to charge him for.

Stickystickysticky · 21/09/2024 14:58

Lots of people knew about and spoke about these Freak parties x.com/sweetbabyrayes/status/1837204107527885296?s=46&t=zeqvo7Iw1m8V4kXAX7nn1A

Saville was barely a secret. I knew about him in 2003 from popbitch. They knew he was going to the morgue.

Abitofalark · 20/09/2024 14:34

One thing I remember reading about him in a detailed account with examples is that Savile was very good at intimidating or threatening people with law, which succeeded in deterring them. He was a ruthless and wily character who was well armed to protect himself always and went to great lengths in the way he lived, to deceive and exploit people.

That's not to say that that was so in every case or that there weren't some people or organisations who might have been able to say or do something.

The truth is that people knew about his offending and chose to collude with it. The BBC knew about his offending and covered it up and the hospital staff made few if any complaints. Yet they all called him a nonce and allowed him free reign in hospitals with defenceless children.

Harrods knew Fayed was a sexual predator, he didn't hide his sexual harassment of staff and no one did anything. P Diddy's exploits were known to other celebrities with just as much power as him, but he continued to predate unfettered for years.

The whole point of #metoo was to pull back the curtain on sex offenders getting away with their crimes in broad daylight. The behaviour of people like Weinstein and Epstein were well known for many years but they were considered untouchable just as Savile was.

Or pizza party. It was something around the time of a young JB.

Didn't Dionne Warwick suggest Snoop needed to think about how his daughter might feel about his attitude towards women?

Yes. She's an absolute queen.

OhmygodDont · 20/09/2024 14:20

I’m sure this was the whole pizza gate (not Andrew tho maybe he was there)thing when I was a teenager. It’s one of those weird out their secrets. Everyone knows but nobody is doing anything about it.

I always thought Kim Porter's death was dodgy.

Yes I worked there when I was young over the summer and Christmas. He was always marching around the store and would stop and chat to me and my friends (all of us early 20's) we were impressed why wouldn't we be but he was a bit creepy.

We had been warned by other woman and they would hang around when he was about to protect us . I love how woman will look out for each other its so wrong that we have to. I now find I am doing this towards young woman colleagues

justasking111 · 20/09/2024 12:29

Many years ago friends daughter got a summer job at Harrod's she was warned by other women and men not to ever get caught alone with him. She brought that tale back to Wales talking freely. So many people outside the firm learnt of his behaviour.

notaurewhatusername · 20/09/2024 06:53

@Palsywalsy she just sometimes sounds like a conspiracy theorist and a bit bonkers!

Apparently Jay z murdered his pregnant mistress as Beyoncé was pregnant at the same time. Allegedly according to jaguar.

Then again, the stories don't seem so far fetched of late 😭

YankSplaining · 20/09/2024 00:15

He’s got video of people at the “freak offs” that would be potentially devastating for them if it went public. And it sounds like he tended to watch the “freak offs,” not directly participate, so he wouldn’t necessarily do damage to himself if the footage surfaced because he’s not necessarily in the footage himself.

He has a record label and other businesses, so lots of people probably had financial or professional connections to him and might face a loss of reputation and/or income if he was exposed.

Also, lots of people don’t want to report criminal behavior of successful black men. Race shouldn’t come into it, but it does - in “Surviving R. Kelly,” some of Kelly’s (black) victims talked about how they were criticized by other black people for “trying to take a powerful black man down.” Which story reflects better on black people? “Fatherless black boy from Harlem rises to fame and fortune through his talent and hard work,” or “black man is a sex criminal who deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison”?
