Just read that Hugh Edwards ahs been given a suspended sentence.

And if course it's not his fault. He had a mean Daddy and some mental health issues and some bad things going on in his life, poor lamb.

All that made him say 'amazing' when sent photos of children as young as 7 being molested.

Having a rough time and a strict father doesn't make you a fucking paedophile!!!

Take responsibility for your predatory and vile behaviour!!

You don't get to police threads

An increase in females being prosecuted for sex offences is worrying and should be spoken about too. Are they aiding and abetting the men as 'causing or allowing' is an offence too

Increased investigations of these crimes against children mean all involved being prosecuted.

You’re free to start your own thread about women offenders and how women are just as bad. Funny how no one ever does this, they just think it’s appropriate to muscle in on the ones talking about how men as a sex class are fucking horrific with this shit whataboutery.

I was just thinking of making a post about men.

I think this place is the worst for seeing the horrid side of men.

I want the women of Mumsnet to stop letting men treat them as doormats, to see that controlling finances, not sharing finances, changing for men, putting up with their criticism, needing to ask if they are being unfair about their husband's when they should know you should never have to ask if this behaviour is OK! Are people really that lonely and insecure that they cannot stand on their own two feet and would rather just put up with the abuse of men??

It's like this hidden world of gradually increasing men with inferiority problems, narcissistic gaslighters, paedophiles, rapists, abusive men! And they all get away with it because someone has an excuse/justification for it. I feel sorry for their children whom will grow up thinking it's normal. They do not stand a chance.

Because it's absolutely our job to fix problematic male behaviour! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also, the women screaming "women do it too!" please, go away/

Allthehorsesintheworld · 16/09/2024 14:51

He and his highly paid barrister had had weeks to dream up excuses.
Listening to the Jeremy Vine show today it seems the majority of paedophiles making images, selling images etc get suspended sentences. So why would it ever stop?
No one stands up for these kids whose lives are ruined by this abuse. The cruelty they go through, how their mental health must be destroyed is never mentioned.

I really wish all sex offenders could hang.

Naunet · 16/09/2024 14:42

He already wasn’t ‘allowed’ to wank over pictures of 7 year olds being abused, didn’t stop him though, did it?

As I said several posts ago, those that want to stop will. Those that don’t, won’t.

"But i don't necessarily want to see people jailed for non-violent one-off crimes."

He was texting and receiving indecent images of children being sexually abused from a convicted paedophile for a number of years. He also spent a number of years coercing a teenager into sharing sexual images of himself.

In what sense is that either "one-off" or "non-violent"?

i wasn't talking about Edwards who i have already said should have been seeing the inside of a cell for at least a month.

AngryLikeHades · 16/09/2024 14:49

I've never seen it described in that detail before, details were a bit vague some months ago when they said Huw replied 'nothing illegal' to the sender of the photos.
The current, more detailed info the OP gave is alot more revealing because, in all honesty I didn't think his offence was very serious. It obviously is though now.

Ridiculous

How would you know it's a 'one off crime'??

don't be daft. nicking a pack of nappies because your UC is late is often a one-off thing.

OhMyGodAChicken · 16/09/2024 14:40

Oh, OK - I guess women just aren't trying hard enough to solve sexism and male-violence, then.

I'm off to "will" a new reality for us all. Thanks!

Crack on, I can’t wait to hear about your efforts 🙂

Stop defending him by saying "it's women too"

This issue is a man charged with indecent images of children.

A MAN!!!!!

I haven’t once defended him.

Men? Please don't speak for my dh and ds(s), this piece of shit is from the shit BBC woke culture, nothing to do with 'men'. Have some respect for those with sons and normal husbands and those who do not hate men en masse.

Oh god not all men, that old chestnut! No I will have no respect for men that have no bearing on my own life, you can't prove that your dh&ds's are angels, respect my fat arse!

WinterMorn · 16/09/2024 14:45

@ClaudiaWinklepanda its tricky. Sometime the two conflate, sometimes they don’t. I personally think the increasing societal permissiveness about kinks is encouraging some of the worst people to hijack the agenda and openly advocate for child sexual abuse.

Windchimesandsong · 16/09/2024 14:45

This is worth reading. What a brave man. Offensively to women and men like him (and the man I know) to suggest childhood trauma is ever an excuse for an adult to abuse children.

Mitigating circumstances are relevant for some crimes but not child abuse. Many women and men were abused as children and do not become child abusers when they're adults.

Jon Needham: the man who went to hell and back as a child – and now fights for all rape victims

He experienced horrendous abuse in foster care, then suffered terribly years later when the case came to court. Now a police officer, he is determined to change how the system treats survivors

The poor children in those photographs.

Unlike Huw, those kids have a life sentence. If I had it my way, the victims in those photos would be given every penny and asset of Huw's. They deserve it.

Yes. Apparently he hasn’t even paid back the BBC wages they ‘asked’ him to.

No one gives a shit about your husband or sons, ffs. We're talking about stats and the fact that over 90% of sexual violence is committed by males.

Naunet · 16/09/2024 14:42

WinterMorn · 16/09/2024 14:34

There will be plenty of restrictions as he will doubtless have been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to run alongside his other sentence requirements. This will contain a list of things that he can and cannot do including conditions relevant to internet use etc.

He already wasn’t ‘allowed’ to wank over pictures of 7 year olds being abused, didn’t stop him though, did it?

Sorry, you’re right. Better to complain on MN instead.

I’d better go and inform the magistracy that I should be looking after my children and elderly parents more and I no longer have the time to attend court. The patriarchy will be delighted!

Yes, how dare women discuss things with other women? You're so right - I'm off to conjure up some spare time to overhaul the British legal system.
