So he has a cold.
Took a Covid test and it was clear
He is sneezing and feeling sorry for himself.
We were meant to go away today
Last night he said "can we set off later tomorrow " I said yes
Then this morning he said he doesn't want to go at all
So now he is playing on the computer upstairs
I'm honestly fuming
I've lost the train fare £70
Luckily hotel was pay on arrival so I can cancel

Aibu to be annoyed ?

Pretty divisive

I'm not able to stay locked in because I have a cold and cough and lose £100s or £1000s of pound because of a cold?

Oh well I'll slink off... forgot this was AIBU.

You didn't just say a cough and just a cold though, you said a horrendous cough and flu and you'd been off work all week with it.
The flu is a bit different to just having a runny nose.

Sounds like you are married to a man child!

Quite. But then the husband isn't the problem...

@betterangels

yes, he is - he needs to stop being grotesque and cover his mouth when he coughs and sneezes. What a minger.

betterangels · 15/09/2024 13:04

Seaside3 · 15/09/2024 13:02

Are you actually 12?

Just stay away from him if you think he is deliberately trying to infect you.

Quite. But then the husband isn't the problem...

Can I just quickly ask if I'm being unreasonable here
He is literally doing everything possible for me to catch it
Coughing without covering his mouth
Lying on my pillow
I asked him why he wasn't just on his pillow and he smirked
Asking for cuddles (he never wants them ) and says well your gonna catch it anyway
Then asks me for kisses

I’m not sure what you’re doing so can’t tell if you’re being unreasonable, but if it was me I’d avoid him for the time being.

Take that £100 and get down the shops.

What!? Is he an idiot?

He wants you to catch it so that you will have to pay him £100 and buy a takeaway.

What he's done to make amends for not going is great.

Doing all these other stuff would piss me off to no end. I can't stand when grown adults don't cover their moths when coughing/sneezing.

Apolloneuro · 15/09/2024 12:58

You two seem to be spoiling for a fight with each other?

ItWasOnAStarryNight · 15/09/2024 12:57

I'd be getting away from him OP. So he wants you to catch it just in time for next weekend?

Go stay at your PILs since they are away

We have re booked for next weekend instead
I have gave the train tickets to his parents and they are going this weekend so nothing lost .
They offered the train fare but felt a bit mean
Taking it.
He's paying next weekend for train and hotel.

He's also offered to treat me to an Indian takeaway and gave me £100 to go to the shops today for a new outfit for next week .
So i can't be too mad at him

no

bur he can be a bit perved that your response was to get in an arse with him

Whu · 15/09/2024 12:55

Some colds are vile and I wouldn’t fancy sitting on a train with a pounding head and streaming nose to go and walk around in the rain! Best to rest for a couple of days and not infect anyone else too.

Seems sensible and kind that he’s rebooked it and treated you.
I mean you will likely have the cold by next weekend so it may be the shoe will be on the other foot!

redskydarknight · 15/09/2024 12:51

York uni freshers are moving in this weekend, so to be honest it's a good weekend to avoid York :)

I wouldn't want to go away on what sounds like a fairly casual weekend with a nasty cold either. Although I would also have no issue on going away myself if my partner bailed.

SallyWD · 15/09/2024 12:49

People minimise colds. Colds can just be a minor sniffle, or they can be bloody awful. If I have a sore throat, fever, aching all over, I simply wouldn't be able to enjoy a weekend away.

You sound like a whiney spoiled brat. Your poor husband putting up with your sulking and £100+ down

I know colds are rubbish
I've had them whilst being away and I just got on with it
He went to work yesterday and you can bet he will be back on Wednesday cold or not.

My exH used to do this and really possed me off…. He’d be at work all week and on his day off he’d be ‘too poorly to get up’.. then go into work the next day, come home every evening feeling sorry for himself and sit and mope! I didn’t pander to it in the end… I told him he’s well enough to work he shouldn’t be too ill when just sitting around!

Gingernaut · 15/09/2024 12:42

Go. Get there. Walk around, go to the museums and art galleries

Go home and gush about how much he missed out

Wow, your husband has really gone out of his way to make up to you.

Why on earth would you be mad at him at all for being unwell?

Roryno · 15/09/2024 12:25

I live in Yorkshire. I work in an outdoors cafe. I’ve been full of a cold this week. It’s cold, raining and windy. I couldn’t pick anything I’d least like to do than walk round a damp town right now.

But get on the train and go alone. Do what you fancy during the day, then grab a bottle of wine and a take away in the evening and have a pamper night watching whatever you fancy.

betterangels · 15/09/2024 12:15

Sorry! :) I'm a bit tired. Perhaps I need a weekend away ...

I believe there's one going in York.

ChinaPuffin · 15/09/2024 12:19

Hey OP, it's moving in weekend at York Uni so the city will probably be busy. It should be a bit quieter next week. Silver linings and all that
