So he has a cold.
Took a Covid test and it was clear
He is sneezing and feeling sorry for himself.
We were meant to go away today
Last night he said "can we set off later tomorrow " I said yes
Then this morning he said he doesn't want to go at all
So now he is playing on the computer upstairs
I'm honestly fuming
I've lost the train fare £70
Luckily hotel was pay on arrival so I can cancel

Aibu to be annoyed ?

I am with your husband on this. It sucks sneezing constantly and being on a train and you make other people sick as well.

Yes, this. Some of the replies seem pretty unsympathetic. Colds vary - some are nothing much, others make you feel totally miserable, certainly too rough to be able to enjoy a weekend away, walking around, eating out etc. Just give the poor bloke some hot drinks and aspirin and tell him not to worry, the trip can be rearranged.

AgainandagainandagainSS · 19/09/2024 13:17

I would be hopping mad OP. Would have invited a friend, gone anyway and left him to it.
Glad his parents were able to use the tickets. Hope they told their ADULT son what a child he is being. And next weekend, he owes you, big time.
Stomach bug - totally understandable. But he is being pathetic.

Said no one ever on a thread where the sexes are reversed.

some people will really stretch to blame the man in all situations!

Except I would say it if the sexes were reversed.

OP was looking forward to a weekend away and he won't go because of a runny nose but is managing work and gaming.

Also, the coughing without covering and lying on her pillow is rude. I would accuse ANYONE of doing that as being rude

He's trying to pass the cold on to you so you get sick and are not up for going next weekend I bet. Anything to wiggle his way out!!!

Enjoy a solo trip and send pics of the great time you're having! Xx

GROMIT50 · 17/09/2024 15:57

I think that is fair, not to go, cold can be awful, plus he could be spreading it around to people with compromise immune system, which would be incredibly selfish on both of you.

Redrunnynose · 16/09/2024 23:32

Man child. Tell him to grow up.

Can I just quickly ask if I'm being unreasonable here
He is literally doing everything possible for me to catch it
Coughing without covering his mouth
Lying on my pillow
I asked him why he wasn't just on his pillow and he smirked
Asking for cuddles (he never wants them ) and says well your gonna catch it anyway
Then asks me for kisses

You said he doesn’t have a cough 🙄

AnnieSnap · 16/09/2024 20:57

railingsdown · 15/09/2024 09:37

No other issues
He said he doesn't fancy walking around York for two days feeling like crap

If he feels ill, it’s understandable that he doesn’t want to spend two days walking around York. If you want to go, go with a friend, or go alone. Leave the poor bloke to be ill at home 🙄

Single50something · 16/09/2024 18:39

Colds always sound nothing but they can make you feel pretty shit..I wouldn't want to be wandering around for a couple of days feeling crap.
Work is for a few hours and you can usually dose up on tablets to get through but then go home and go to bed.

Carolv · 16/09/2024 17:37

Hotels normally have 24 hour cancelation policy. Even if its pay on arrival expect them to try and get payment for late cancelation. Who can blame them really??

JustWalkingTheDogs · 15/09/2024 17:11

@LuckySantangelo35 he told op that he'd look after himself, I'd take him at his word and leave him to it. No more lemsip and tea in the morning, no more cooking him dinner etc. he wants to look after himself, let him do that!

LuckySantangelo35 · 15/09/2024 17:06

JustWalkingTheDogs · 15/09/2024 14:48

Do exactly as he asks.

@JustWalkingTheDogs

really?

fuck that.

Mumoftwo2022 · 15/09/2024 17:03

How old are you guys. Sounds like some growing up is needed.

JustWalkingTheDogs · 15/09/2024 14:48

Do exactly as he asks.

HeliotropePJs · 15/09/2024 14:44

Didn't bother to read the updates before. If he's the type to intentionally try to give you his cold, why were you wanting to go away with him to begin with? 🤔

HeliotropePJs · 15/09/2024 14:41

Sorry, but I wouldn't want to pay to go somewhere when I knew I'd feel miserable the whole time, and I don't see much point in powering through something that's meant to be a treat. Something important and unavoidable, yes, but not something optional that is supposed to be a good time. I'd much rather have the comforts of home, anyway, when I have a cold.

He should've just told you from the start that he wasn't feeling up to it, but maybe he thought he'd feel better the next day. I'd have cancelled as soon as I realised I had a cold!

BobVanceVanceRefridgeration · 15/09/2024 14:36

I always find it interesting on threads like these where reaction to the initial OP is that they were being unreasonable

There always seems to then be an update casting the other party as the villain of the piece and lo and behold the tide turns.

OP, take the money and go out shopping. Leave him blustering in an empty house

railingsdown · 15/09/2024 14:35

I wish I had gone now
Made him some mash with gravy
Took it up

Why have you made that ?
I don't want anything off you ?

Because I wouldn't kiss him and told him to not cough on my pillow
That's it
He said he will look after himself
Literally this morning I made him a cup of tea In bed and a lemsip

Get him some NeilMed sinus rince. They're really good getting rid of the snott and stops the mucus dripping down your throat and causing an irritating cough.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 15/09/2024 14:20

Ok now he's being a twat.

Coughing and smirking at you is foul.

Honestly I'd go to the hotel after that even if I just stayed in the fucking room all day and didn't enjoy myself.

Jacopo · 15/09/2024 14:07

OP please join the 21st century. You are acting like a 1950s housewife, doing everything for him. When you were annoyed with him you let yourself be bought off with an extravagant gift.
You say you can’t enjoy being in a place like York on your own. Statistically you will eventually be on your own so learn to like it, and do things by yourself.
Get some self respect and act like a liberated, independent adult.
Tell him to stop coughing all over you, for a start.
Sometimes it’s like feminism never actually happened.

Asshole. That's so rude. You ought to go away for a couple of days if you can.

This is not normal behaviour. Maybe he’s trying to give to you so you’ll be ill next weekend and the shoe will be on the other foot. Whatever the reason, he is being a bit of a twat by doing this.
