No women only spaces for 16 months. Basically women, RAPED women - were told they could not definitely see a woman to help them with such an awful crime, they might have to see a man in a dress, and if they objected they were to be 're eductaed' by the man in charge - a man who himself applied for, and got!! a job which was supposed to be only filled by a woman.

It's shameful, disgusting, but whats worse is how many people put up with it!! Who thought this was ok?! why did nobody do anything, or say anything FOR YEARS

Woman with head in her arms sitting on a bed

Edinburgh rape crisis centre failed to protect women-only spaces

The centre unfairly dismissed a worker who believed victims should know the sex of staff who deal with their case.

If men aren’t to be involved at all the whole system needs changing as currently males experiencing rape struggle to get the support they need. My son was raped and got nothing as the rape support centre would only let him access support 1 day a week which he couldn’t do as opposed to the 4 days a week women were offered because he couldn’t be on the premises. Men, women and trans should all get the same level of support. Rape is Rape. The whole system needs overhauling. He has still had zilch and is expected to process a court case and the rape itself on the back of zero therapy and support. Women only spaces shouldn’t be protected at the expense of male survivors. I don’t understand why there aren’t separate buildings offering exactly the same.

FFS! Can't we have one, JUST....ONE thread without someone coming on and saying 'but what about the menz?'

Sorry your son was raped but your whole tone is so dismissive. There should be separate buildings/facilities for male victims of rape, but that is something men need to sort out. Not women.

Ihopeithinkiknow · 12/09/2024 22:17

It's quite fucking obvious that the mother who is posting about her son being raped has read this as men who have been raped should not be in places that deal with rape victims rather than what it is actually about, a man who hasn't been raped dealing with female victims that have been raped. I think she is trying to get her point across about a different issue and should probably start her own thread but fuck me 🤨 do some people have to be so fucking cunty in their responses to someone who is obviously going through something obviously traumatic themselves? Accused of being a man and a male apologist just because she has very clearly got the wrong end of the stick.

Read wings over scotland blog for full history of this scandal.
Transsexuality in charge of crisis centre
Nicola has a lot to answer for.this in addition to allowing people with a penis to serve time in women's prison.
If you have a cervix you are female and a woman.what is difficult to understand.
If a man removes his bits then he can use female spaces until then he can pee standing up!!!

Tbh I used to think this but now I'm much more of the school of thought that a man with no penis should still be in the male toilets. As he is a man, and stronger than I am. But mostly because he is a man. I'm over being nice and pretending.

Rape Crisis Scotland ,along with the Scottish Greens and Liberal Democrats didn't think that raped women should be allowed to choose the sex of the person examining them. They were only too happy to vote against Johann Lamont's amendment to change the word gender for sex in the Forensic Medicine Bill.

He deliberately recruited young brainwashed kids to be trustees from the 'be kind' generation. They've mostly now quit.

Of course he did. Of course he bloody did. Recruit naive, younger staff, all the better to admire and kowtow to him. He doesn't give a shit about women, he never did. All he cares about is dominating, bullying and abusing his power.

He clearly despises women despite pertaining to be one.

murasaki · 12/09/2024 22:06

He probably never turned up at Roz's tribunal as he couldn't find an appropriate support animal. The massive fraudulent misogynist.

And more from that Quillette article;

Toward the end of her employment at the centre, Adams became aware that a woman in her 60s had approached the ERCC, seeking to join a therapy group in which she could talk for the first time about the fact that she’d been raped 40 years earlier. During her initial consultation, the woman had asked for an assurance that the centre was women-only. According to the judgment, “she was advised that ERCC [was] trans inclusive,” and when she said she was uneasy about seeing someone who was not biologically female, “she was advised that she was not suitable… and excluded from the service".

Meanwhile

For now, let’s start with Downing, who once served as an Equalities Officer for the SNP’s Edinburgh and London branches. In mid-July, he was found guilty of sexually assaulting six young adults. Downing was also convicted of physically attacking two women; and perpetrating domestic abuse against a man, whom he’d blackmailed into having sex over several months, by threatening to falsely accuse the victim of rape if he didn’t submit. His predatory behaviour had been going on for eight years, dating back to when he was just sixteen; and the judge presiding over his trial observed that Downing had shown “hostility towards women, lack of concern for others, sexual preoccupation, and deviant sexual preferences.”

Even as he was sexually abusing women, Downing was receiving counselling at the ERCC. The centre’s services were supposed to be reserved for female clients. But that wasn’t a dealbreaker, as Wadhwa had opened the doors wide to any man who claimed to be trans or “non-binary.” And since that latter category is completely undefinable (some might even say, imaginary) this effectively meant any man could come marching in simply by claiming to have exotic pronouns

And back to Wadhwa

As recently as 2019, he told a student newspaper that “I do see [sexual abuse] survivors—four a week, usually—who help me stay connected to the cause.” But what qualifications he possesses to do this work remains an open question, as neither his diploma in hotel management (from a college in India) nor his MSc in education from the University of Edinburgh would appear to be professionally pertinent.

Still unconvinced that Wadhwa didn't give a shit about women?

Though he wasn’t selected to stand for either of the two seats he’d applied for, Wadhwa was nevertheless featured on an SNP poster in Stirling wearing large earrings and his trademark sari. (He later left the party in protest when it backed a law allowing rape victims to ensure that their medical examinations would be conducted by someone of the same sex, whereupon Wadhwa transferred his allegiance to the Scottish Greens, whose fanatical embrace of trans activism has eclipsed even that of the SNP.)

So a male gets support before a court case but women are banned?

I don't understand why your child got something women are unable to access?

Not signposting to Beira's place shows how much this was an ideological issue not centred around victims.

If there is a hell, there is a special place in it for this man and for his fucking handmaidens who placed their luxury belief that being a woman is an idea in a man's head, rather than a physical reality, over the needs of women who'd been raped.

And rape crisis Scotland can get in the bin too, though they're busily throwing Wadhwa under the bus now, they supported him and his screwing over of rape victims to prop up this woman hating ideology for years.

I'm very sorry for your son and that he couldn't access support, but this is not the time or the place and women's rights and safety should not be compromised for men. Women need safe spaces.

Just been reading how funding was removed in 2021 from 3 women's aid single sex groups (one in the Lanarkshire area whom had been providing specialist domestic abuse support for 40 years) for not admitting men into refuges or work with male abusers. The contract was awarded to SACRO (mixed sex) despite not being a specialist in domestic violence.

Guess who was the director of SACRO at that time? Wadhwa's partner. Coincidence?

All on Glinner's website if anyone is interested.

She told the tribunal of a woman in her 60s who approached the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre asking to take part in group work. She had kept secret for 40 years the fact that she had been sexually assaulted and wanted to meet other survivors as part of her recovery.
When this woman asked the centre for reassurance that any group discussion would be women only, she was advised that ERCC were trans-inclusive.
When she made clear that she was unhappy that she may be seeing someone who was not biologically female she was advised that she “was not suitable for their service and was excluded.”

www.heraldscotland.com/news/24333450.roz-adams-tribunal-rape-crisis-scotland-announce-review/

Absolutely disgusting that some posters are banging on about males not being able to choose what day they can get support when females have had nowhere to access support because male feelings were prioritised over female needs.

RedToothBrush · 12/09/2024 21:49

From the Quillette article:

Wadhwa’s extremist tendencies can be gauged from an email exchange that took place in December 2022. Staff at the ERCC had just heard that Rowling was funding a new refuge in Edinburgh, Beira’s Place—which, unlike the ERCC, would actually exclude men. The ERCC’s “non-binary” staff circulated an email lamenting this “really terrible news,” and suggested a meeting where they could “rage” about “this total festive stinker.”

Now, one might presume that Wadhwa might welcome the launch of a service where the women he denounced as “bigots” could go without troubling the ERCC with their annoying views about biological sex. But one would be presuming incorrectly. “This new organisation has been founded on a platform of exclusion, misinformation and what I would describe as white feminist imperialism, that interesting combination of the flaws of white feminism and the white saviourism of colonialists and of course capitalism of which the founder is a beneficiary,” he fumed. According to court documents, Wadhwa refused to refer clients to Beira’s Place or even mention its existence.

Wadhwa made a point of saying any woman asking for a female only service would be treated as follows

“We will work with you... but please expect to be challenged on your prejudices.”

Centring female rape victims? Meh. Not a priority.

Why do I want to punch him square in the face?🤔

So a young raped teenage boy is supposed to set up his own centre to access support. Great!

The system we have in our area is they are under 1 roof, my son had more important things to process than campaigning for male rights after his rape. 🤔

No, he CAN GO to Mankind, the charity for male rape

Mmmnotsure · 12/09/2024 21:39

SleeplessInWherever · 12/09/2024 21:30

Your point possibly?

I think the point she was initially making was that her son couldn’t access support because the service offers more female only time, so he couldn’t get in. Which related to the female only point of the article?

Just not sure it required an argument, that’s all!

Could we have just one thread that focuses on women?

Just in this instance perhaps, given that a woman at ERCC lost her job, another woman was refused help and deliberately not signposted to a local female-only rape centre which could have helped her, and many, many women have been without support from ERCC after being raped by men - and all this at the dictate of the male CEO.

Could we have just one thread, without "what-about-the-menz"?

That man is her son.

If came on here and spoke about their daughter, or any female relative, being unable to access services - I doubt it would get the same response.

Remind me - what's the name of this forum?

Nothing in the statement to say they have...
