To be so upset about the stories in Julie In Gender land?

I'm just staggered at the stories, staggered. I knew it was bad, but social workers treating good, caring parents like criminals, forcing the transition of gay kids, the damage to parents and their mental health, let alone the huge damage to children

it's hard to move on from this sort of thing, I am a parent, I can't believe most parents know how bad it is out there in our schools

Some of these parents - previously mentally healthy - were driven to thoughts of suicide by these 'professionals'. This is NOT in the child's best interest. It's obvious that they were deliberately causing family breakdown.

To be honest this is a failing full stop with all services involved with children for many reasons.

My brother’s autistic daughter has, over the years, been through ASD assessments, eating disorder, gender issues, really difficult behaviour. All support services (CAMHS, a LA behavioural support worker, SENCO + teachers and more) have blamed her parents throughout, leaving them both traumatised and unwilling to approach anyone for help ever again. The “work” they have done to support DN has only made things worse.

TorghunKhan · 11/09/2024 13:42

My son is autistic. He has been affirmed as trans by the local pressure groups and the other parent. I feel like I am living in an upside down world.

OP what is being done to autistic young people is terrible. Have you found any support? I think Bayswater Support might be able to help you.

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 11/09/2024 13:45

It's clear the 'professionals' acting as described in this podcast either haven't read, haven't understood or are deliberately flouting the principles in 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' which is statutory guidance they should have read as a requirement of their job.

Behaving against statutory safeguarding advice should be a sackable offence but they've been encouraged to behave in this way, seemingly. And families and children have been harmed.

Where did I say I was against child safeguarding? 😂 You'll pull your arm reaching that far. It's just a bit that because you don't feel you get enough traffic on your dedicated board to post in AIBU just for you all to discuss amongst yourselves (with the usual arsey jumping on anyone and throwing assumptions at them too) boring!

I'll respond to what I like thanks and tell OP she is BU if I want.

This is the only mumsnet board I read, and I’m not sure what other board you’re talking about, but just followed the link and it’s terrifying. Everyone should be more aware of this stuff, not just people who know what to look for.

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 11/09/2024 13:39

Oh, so boring to talk about how parents have been bullied by state "professionals" into allowing their child to take experimental drugs that can cause harm!

I'm sure there are lots of parents on here who aren't aware of these issues. Forewarning these parents is important so they can act in their child's best interests.

Agreed, I’ve been aware of these issues for ages so when my own autistic daughter was questioned we’d already talked about gender and how wearing certain clothes and liking certain things doesn’t make you a boy.

Now waiting for the activists to tell me that , either,

  1. my daughter isn’t trans otherwise she’d ‘know’ she’s a boy ; or,
  2. I have a son and I’m the problem

I’ve been told both !

No child is born wrong.

That must be very stressful for all of you.

OP I’ve just listened to the first episode and found it deeply upsetting.

Like the families interviewed our daughter is autistic, when she was struggling with her mental health and sensory issues (she wore boys clothes & hair short) , a CAMHS mental heath nurse tried to explore ‘gender’ with her.

It never got as far as the situation those families found themselves in but my god , if you have a child needing mental health services and social work support the child is at rock bottom, putting gender ideas into the child’s head then saying the parents are the problem, well I don’t have words I can use on here without being banned, to describe how I feel about that.

Autistic girls are not boys ffs 😡

It comes across to me that men's kinks and fetishes have come to the fore and infiltrated society.

Men have been fighting to invade women's/girl's spaces, have their fetishes normalised and groom children. Society has largely gone along with this and brought into gender ideology and gaslighting.

Children have been harmed. Women have been deplatformed, ostracized, fired, arrested, lost deals and contracts and silenced.

Madness.

Edited

It's very important for these men to force team with children confused about their identity.

Grouping them all under a 'trans' umbrella is immensely helpful for the men with fetishes and catastrophic for the poor children.

Where’s the child safeguarding board?

I think if anyone’s bored it’s the ones greeting about posting topics that aren’t about ‘cheeky fuckers’ or stuff that doesn’t belong on AIBU. Accounts for the majority of threads on this board. You must have a lot of time on your hands.

And if you’re telling the OP she’s being unreasonable then surely she’s on the right board.

Those brave, brave parents in episode 2 who affirmed their daughter, who was fast tracked onto testosterone, then realised they'd made a mistake. So brave to be able to change tack and their daughter has now desisted and is much happier.

Awful to hear the guilt and blame they were heaping on themselves - they did what they did in the face of absolute onslaught from "professionals" telling them to affirm only. So glad to hear Julie encouraging them not to blame themselves (they always had their child's best interests at heart) and blame those who shouldn't have pushed their child down an ideologically driven pathway to harm with so little exploration of what was the root cause.

At one point the father says he hopes there's no long term damage. Him researching and acting as he did will have probably saved his daughter from some of the terrible risks long term female takers of testosterone experience.

It's really heartbreaking listening and something every parent should listen to because it could happen to any one of us.

Julie B finally allowing these voices - silenced for years - to be heard will hopefully protect many children from harm.

There's someone asking for food/recipe help currently on AIBU. Are you going to hop over there to tell them there's a dedicated board for their post? In fact most AIBU can be slotted elsewhere.

What is it about child safeguarding you're against 🚩

I too was deeply moved. Especially by the Brummie couple.

TheKeatingFive · 11/09/2024 13:34

But thanks for perfectly demonstrating what we're talking about in terms of people having huge problems confronting this topic.

“Your dedicated board”?

I’ve yet to see the dedicated child safeguarding guards g board. Can you show me please?

Op is not genuinely asking if she is BU about anything, she wants to discuss a topic that has a dedicated board so the rest of us can enjoy reading about cheeky fuckers and actually AIBUs.

No one is forcing you to read every thread on AIBU.

You know that of course.

So enough deflection cheers. Other people are interested in their children's safety.

YABU to post in aibu. You have dedicated board for this stuff.

Good Lordy it's going to take you forever to trawl AIBU for threads Which Don't Belong and instruct the OP of their mistake.

Or is it just concerns with safe guarding that you think need to be shoved back in the naughty corner?

Please elaborate. Thanks.

Helleofabore · 11/09/2024 13:28

Oh noes!!!

The nasty poster wanted to discuss children and their welfare on a parenting forum! How utterly vile - that topic should only ever be hidden away unless given permission by other posters to post on the AIBU board.

And oh noes!!!! Even worse!! Adult members of the forum lack the impulse control to scroll past posts they don’t want to read!

OP- you are SO very unreasonable.

(this is sarcasm)

Namesmame · 11/09/2024 13:28

TheKeatingFive · 11/09/2024 13:21

What I said earlier, btw, this is you. This is what you're doing here ...

So people KNOW this is horrifying to talk about, but also want everyone to shut up about it so that they can continue to support it.

One thing that always strikes me posting on these kinds of topics are the likes that come from posters who are lurking. People are reading and engaging even if they aren't posting.

Getting a serious issue regarding child safeguarding to a broader audience is a bit silly?

Oh do give over, many people are blissfully unaware of this harm to children.

Even if people don’t post they may read and, hopefully, listen to the podcast and become aware of the issue.
