I'm just staggered at the stories, staggered. I knew it was bad, but social workers treating good, caring parents like criminals, forcing the transition of gay kids, the damage to parents and their mental health, let alone the huge damage to children

it's hard to move on from this sort of thing, I am a parent, I can't believe most parents know how bad it is out there in our schools

It takes some extraordinary courage to put together a podcast like this. A few of my friends have started listening and couldn't carry on, it's just too grim, and on the same level as Rochdale child abuse scandal which Julie draws parallels with. Episodes with David Bell, Hannah Barnes and Az Hakeem are excellent in their unforgiving clarity. More parents should listen to this, in particular parents with autistic or otherwise vulnerable/traumatised children should be very aware of what is really going on behind the scenes.

It is a bit mixed - those parent voices are harrowing as well. The things parents have done because the experts told them it was that or a dead child

stunning

Some parents have been horrifically caught in the crossfires of all this. It is truly awful how badly they have been betrayed by the medics involved.

I've done 5 so far, but left out some bits of the parent interviews and got a bit confused at the episodic cast of characters and way it was structured.

I'm part way through the third episode, I'm listening on my commute. It's shocking but at the same time not surprising. I work for the NHS and have to be careful what I say...

Or maybe bring it up at the next staff meeting!

it’s not on you to fight every battle but the more silent people are the worse this gets. We need to shine the light

Has this been picked up by any other news services? I have not seen enough coverage, shame - how about any of us send it to our MPs?

Has anyone made it all the way through the podcast? The depth and the pain of the stories is astounding. How did the whole country become so captured with this horror show?

The lunatics have taken over the asylum, is an easy, but true, idea of what’s happened

I can only compare it to outbreaks of anorexia where instead of help, we tell girls they really are fat.

Just listened to Episode 7 - Bad Education.
I am so ashamed of the schools who've unthinkingly transitioned children and promoted the alienation of children from their parents. Special condemnation goes to Ofsted, the DfE, the teaching unions and local authorities who have frankly abandoned children to some of the most unsuitable and least qualified adults in the world to influence child development.
As Stephanie Davies Arai (from Transgender Trend) pointed out in the episode - schools know how to deal with mentally vulnerable children with eating disorders, self harm, tics and the rest. Yet we've allowed schools to be de skilled and handed this vulnerable group of children over to the promoters of "of course you've been born in the wrong body but a sex change will fix you" .
Listening to those parents weeping for being called a bigot for trying to safeguard their children from this toxic ideology made me weep. The idea that schools have been used to promote this makes me despair.

I’ve shared it on a feminist WA group I’m in, and with another friend who peaked very recently and who works in the NHS!

Thanks for highlighting this OP. I have listened to all but one of the episodes now. It is harrowing, mind-bending and so important. It’s fitting that Julie and those who made the TW film have used Alice in Wonderland as an analogy. When you hear it all laid out, it sounds like a mad upside-down world- which of course it is.

I found the episode with Az Hakeem particularly interesting. I’m sure he said at one point that he doesn’t know ANY psychiatrists who support this or believe that TWAW. You’d hope people would listen to psychiatrists on a topic concerning human minds and behaviour. I found it really enlightening when he described gender dysphoria as a symptom, like a cough, rather than a condition in its own right. Everything he said about it made sense. The comparisons with eating disorders and self-harm. I also loved that he explained how group therapy with his dysphoric clients resulted in them essentially talking each other out of it- no ‘conversion therapy’ required- the psychiatrist didn’t need to tell them that their gender dysphoria had its roots in their trauma or their neurodivergence- they told each other!

I’m so glad more people get to listen to it. I hope everyone who listens tells ten more people!

this is just madness, it being a no debate subject has hurt so many people.

According to your poll 27 people think you are being unreasonable for being upset... presumably in that case they are for the trauma, pain and findings of harm committed knowingly.

And even the most hard hearted person would probably think that reinstating proper safeguarding for children is a good idea. But apparently those in government don't have to do due diligence and consider evidence these days.

Unfortunately, you are approaching it from a rational viewpoint, whereas, Be KindTM is an emotional, irrational ideology. The proponents, even in the face of overwhelming evidence, are convinced that they are right and it's wicked to deny children what they think they want, or men in women's toilets, sports etc.

Agreed. The scary thing is that I'm beginning to suspect there are far more of these around than I thought.

Or perhaps more accurately, men who wouldn't break social taboos necessarily, but would very much welcome these social taboos being dismantled.

That distinction may not make sense to anyone but me though.

no no, I get it, absolutely

I can't believe it is anything but predators trying to change the very way we think abut safeguarding children.

Exactly. We need to understand what's going on there too.

Ultimately, we have to conclude that there are significant numbers of (mostly) men out there who are actively supportive of this. I.e dismantling society's boundaries around fetishism and grooming of children.

There are also plenty of useful idiots clapping them on without realising the consequences. But in every organisation, there are the people driving it all.

These interviews are something else, an easy to listen box set on this topic and what the impact has been on real lives.

Every single profession that interfaces children and their families has failed.

Amazing work bringing this together.

I don't like to hate on the BBC but they aren't just captured they are pusher, like converting people to a new religion converting

This has overtaken so much, so many adults signed up to it and pushing the ideology it would take a lot to reverse it

I'm not sure it's going to happen, maybe with some other momentum that it can ride on the back of

When you think of all the organisations, including international, and media who are protecting this it looks hard to do

TorghunKhan · 12/09/2024 12:38

EasternStandard · 12/09/2024 12:29

A fair amount of the media are complicit if not culpable

Adults there will have been pushing gender ideology

So many institutions will pull together if this is threatened

I should say they should not only look at the outcomes of the ETs but the documentation and testimony. Jo Phoenix's case really stands out for the insane batshittery spouted by academics but there are other strong contenders in Denise Fahmy's case, Rachel Meade's, Allison Bailey's. Many of whom are paid for by the taxpayer and really, really shouldn't be. Rachel Meade's was the most disturbing because the McCarthyism on display in SWE WILL harm children. There seems no consequence for their safeguarding failures though.
