To be sickened by a couple who piles on the PDA every time one of them gets up to go to the toilet?

I’m currently in a restaurant, and there’s a couple at a nearby table who are going overboard with the PDA. Every time one of them gets up to go to the toilet, they kiss, hug, and basically act like they won’t see each other again for years! It’s making the atmosphere uncomfortable, and I feel like I can’t enjoy my meal without being subjected to it.

AIBU to think this level of PDA is just too much in a public place?

We used to double date with a couple like this. It was cringe inducing stuff.

TheOriginalEmu · 10/09/2024 21:05

either they both have Crohn’s, a uti, or they like a bit ❄️.
the drugs might explain the PDA.

Where is it.... remember to avoid it. What age are the pair?

Not Macdonald's?

JaneJeffer · 10/09/2024 20:52

Drugs

Oh. I hadn’t thought of that

I guess the kissing so much distracts so much . Like they’re holding each others necks and everything. Like they are at the table doing it now

Or drugs. Sounds grim either way.

GlutenfreeFast800 · 10/09/2024 21:02

Maybe they had sex the first time they both disappeared and the second and third they’re playing with remote control, um “toys@?

Webbymeister · 10/09/2024 21:02

Are they doing coke?

anotherbaby3 · 10/09/2024 21:01

Too much 😬😂 my cousin and her boyfriend do that every Christmas sitting in the middle of the living room with the whole family there. It’s so uncomfortable!

Webbymeister · 10/09/2024 21:01

How often does one go to the toilet in one meal

If Mumsnet deems YANBU what are you going to do?

Haha, nothing drastic! Just glad to know I’m not the only one who finds it a bit much. I’ll finish my meal and carry on - PDA or not!

You never know… Maybe the PDA is just a clever cover up while they’re secretly swiping away when the other isn’t looking. Modern romance right?

In the last 30 mins they have spent at least 15 minutes in the toilet or kissing?

They are probably sending each other dirty pics, or running off to call their husband/wife.

MyKidsAreTooNoisy · 10/09/2024 20:46

Maybe one of them has diarrhoea extremis fatalis and it may well be the last time they see each other?

Haha, you might be onto something! If that’s the case, I’ll let them have their dramatic farewells without judgement. Better safe than sorry!

Yeah I would hate that. Its so over the top, get a room. I don't know what PDA is though.

How often are they getting up to the toilet?

They’ve gotten up 3x in the last half hour. Together, her on her own, then him on his own. Big sloppy, mouth open moving kisses before each departure
