For wanting to photoshop a photo of a friend

Had a lovely holiday with some friends, I was the designated photographer so I sent all of the photos to everyone afterwards and told them to send the ones back they want uploaded to social media. All was fine however one friend sent back a picture and on closer inspection I would feel more comfortable photoshopping part of it. I don't want to upset my friend so I was thinking of just doing it without telling her but then I think if she looks at it compared to the original and she notices then she will be offended. Would it be unreasonable to just edit it without telling her?

Designated photographer?! What?! Didn't everyone just take their own or did you have a DSLR?

What is worrying you about this particular photo then?

I am a hobby photographer so I have good quality cameras and can take good photos and I enjoy it so everyone leaves the photography up to me :).

I will not be sharing the photo on this forum because of privacy

Would you be photoshopping her, or yourself, or the scenery?

Editing to remove redeye, or to take out a palm tree that seems to be growing out of her head, fine. Editing yourself, also ok. Editing her body, not really ok.

No sorry I worded it poorly. I’m wanting to photoshop it because I don’t like something about the original picture. But I don’t want my friend to be upset that I photoshopped some of her

Is it the picture as a whole that you don’t like? Like the lighting or something in the background? Or is it something to do with her specifically?

Well, what do you want to Photoshop out?

Your friend’s chubby arm - not okay. A bit of spinach in her teeth - fine.

Is her nipple on show or something like that?

Something along those lines

Don’t do this, OP. My dad photoshopped my Y11 prom photos without asking me (to brighten my skin and get rid of a couple of spots) and it still rankles me now, aged 30.

You want to photoshop your friend because you think she should be uncomfortable with how she looks when she isn't? Am I reading that right?
