For wanting to photoshop a photo of a friend

justforthispost1 · 10/09/2024 11:58

Had a lovely holiday with some friends, I was the designated photographer so I sent all of the photos to everyone afterwards and told them to send the ones back they want uploaded to social media. All was fine however one friend sent back a picture and on closer inspection I would feel more comfortable photoshopping part of it. I don't want to upset my friend so I was thinking of just doing it without telling her but then I think if she looks at it compared to the original and she notices then she will be offended. Would it be unreasonable to just edit it without telling her?

Is there hair somewhere you think it shouldn't be?

Whatever it is, contact her and say 'your armpit/bikini hair is showing' - I can photoshop it out if you like and wait for response.

You are friends - so this is what friends do, its like telling a friend her skirt is tucked into her knickers.

Would seem the obvious solution!

There’s some noticeable hairs visible from an area that a bikini usually covers

You can just say my mates got her pubes out.

Just edit them out, I dont think in any universe someone would want a photo posting with their pubes out.

Ohfuckrucksack · 10/09/2024 12:18

I was too slow typing. My response is the same. Tell her.

No no not at all. There’s some noticeable hairs visible from an area that a bikini usually covers. The thing is I’m not sure if my friend noticed and she doesn’t mind or she didn’t notice. If it’s latter then I could get away with photoshopping it however if it’s the former she might be offended that I asked to edit it out.

I don't do any waxing or anything. I have plenty of hair showing round a bikini. I'm not bothered. If you decided I should be bothered and photoshopped me for that reason I'd think you were being an absolute dick.

She's seen the photo, she approved it, she knows how much public hair she has. Leave it.

In light of the update - if I was your friend, I'd want you to edit. Definitely.

You want to edit out body hair on a photo she has said she's okay with?

Just upload it. She told you she's okay with it.

Saschka · 10/09/2024 12:17

Nobody is asking you to share the photo! Just explain what the issue is, and what you want to edit.

Eg she has redeye and I want to edit it out, or she has her legs crossed and you can see her vulva a la basic instinct, I want to edit that so it looks like shadow.

Edited because I cross posted with you explaining what it is.

Yes, I'd ask her if she wanted me to edit out her pubes.

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 10/09/2024 12:14

She picked the photo.

Something to do with her

Can you not just tell us what that something is?

Spomb · 10/09/2024 12:14

But surely she picked the photo so she’s happy with how she looks?

Can you not let them put their own photos on social media like most people do, or is this not allowed?

Editing her clothes to cover her body up more isn’t really on.

If she had a wardrobe malfunction presumably she wouldn’t be sharing the photo far and wide, so I assume you just think she looks a bit slutty in whatever she’s wearing?

What's wrong with her in the picture?

offyoujollywelltrot · 10/09/2024 12:12

Dripfeed 🙄

DreamW3aver · 10/09/2024 12:12

No one can say really without knowing what kind of change you're talking about

Is it something that would embarrass her?

Appledoughnut · 10/09/2024 12:11

Just bloody tell us what the issue is.

Whothefuckdoesthat · 10/09/2024 12:10

It depends.

If you want to do it because she’s accidentally exposing herself, or she’s got a big bogey hanging out of her nose, then fair enough. If you really do have her best interests at heart and it’s a dreadful photo, you could be excused for accidentally deleting it.

But if you just want to improve her general appearance then absolutely not. What is going on in your head?

DappledThings · 10/09/2024 12:10

justforthispost1 · 10/09/2024 12:06

Something along those lines

Are you worried that reflects on you as a photographer? Because that would be ridiculous. If it's because you think she looks like she should be uncomfortable but she clearly isn't that's unreasonable too.

Jesus, this is like pulling teeth

Nobody’s asking you to share the photo. It’s just a bit difficult to say whether what you want to edit is acceptable or not if you won’t say what it is 🤦🏼‍♀️

Janeir0 · 10/09/2024 12:10

If her tit is out just reply and say did you realise your tit is out are you sure you want me to post it.

Is it the picture as a whole that you don’t like? Like the lighting or something in the background? Or is it something to do with her specifically?

Something to do with her

If it’s on her body then what’s wrong with just messaging, hey X I’d love to post this but just realised half your nip is out! Shall I remove it from the photo? Or you happy for me to just post. Have a great day!
