For wanting to photoshop a photo of a friend

Had a lovely holiday with some friends, I was the designated photographer so I sent all of the photos to everyone afterwards and told them to send the ones back they want uploaded to social media. All was fine however one friend sent back a picture and on closer inspection I would feel more comfortable photoshopping part of it. I don't want to upset my friend so I was thinking of just doing it without telling her but then I think if she looks at it compared to the original and she notices then she will be offended. Would it be unreasonable to just edit it without telling her?

This thread is hilarious - but just to clear something up, while my growler may be full on floof it doesn't mean I think body hair is fantastic and am happy to have it flashed all over SM. It just means I'm too fucking lazy to bother doing anything about it.

I'd just edit it out OP, I doubt your mate is going to ask you where her pubes went.

No no not at all. There’s some noticeable hairs visible from an area that a bikini usually covers. The thing is I’m not sure if my friend noticed and she doesn’t mind or she didn’t notice. If it’s latter then I could get away with photoshopping it however if it’s the former she might be offended that I asked to edit it out.

I'd just photoshop this out. It's something most of us would be slightly embarrassed (or even completely mortified) by.

Don't bring it up as it might make her feel embarrassed.

I doubt she'd notice at all.

While she might get offended if you were photoshopping it so she was thinner, or had a smaller nose or different colour skin I doubt she's going to come back outraged that you have gotten rid of some hairs on her bikini line

DillDanding · 10/09/2024 14:07

Why so coy? We’re not going to faint if you say ‘there are pubes sticking out’. I’d text the friend and say ‘I’ve photoshopped your pubes out’. Job done.

Growler??
what the hell ?

I think I must live in a parallel universe at times. What is so hard about just asking your good friend if she wants the pubes edited? Just tell her that it's her choice or not. Or is it that you don't want them in the pic? I would query whether it's your choice as it's not your body.

oakleaffy · 10/09/2024 14:02

It’s your friends “ Bikini line” hairs
If she’s not bothered , why should you be?! 🤔

oneleggedspider · 10/09/2024 14:01

I'd just 'forget' to upload this one and don't mention it. But if you've sent it out to them all, then can't they just upload the ones they want themselves to their own SM anyway?

Wineandcupcakes · 10/09/2024 13:56

statetrooperstacey · 10/09/2024 13:35

“Hey Lauren , lovely photo but half your growler’s hanging out , do you want me to fix it?” Should suffice

Apparently someone up thread loves their growler on display and would get pissed if you edited. 😂

Wineandcupcakes · 10/09/2024 13:55

I’d photoshop and if she says oi where’s my pubes, I’d just say what I’ve no idea and act ignorant. The odds of this happening are remote though.

My husband has a birthmark on his face, one year the school photographer photoshopped it out to "be kind".

His mum quiet rightly complained as it made my husband, who hadn't cared up to that point, get a bit self conscious.

Oh no that's awful your poor husband!

This is completely different though, I'm sure the friend doesn't look like a burst mattress so a little bit of tidying up on photoshop really shouldn't be that big a deal but it might make it an issue if you bring it up?

Somebody two posts before yours would be offended with this kind of editing.

Yeah I get that, it's not something I've known before that people are happy showing their pubes in public. 99% people on here agree that they'd want it photoshopping. But the 100% correct answer is to just ask the question.

DillyDilly · 10/09/2024 13:49

Isn’t the simplest thing to do is to accidentally omit to upload that photo, along with maybe one or two others from the pile.

DappledThings · 10/09/2024 12:18

I don't do any waxing or anything. I have plenty of hair showing round a bikini. I'm not bothered. If you decided I should be bothered and photoshopped me for that reason I'd think you were being an absolute dick.

She's seen the photo, she approved it, she knows how much public hair she has. Leave it.

This.

Itsstickertime · 10/09/2024 13:47

Just don’t share that particular photo! She obviously hasn’t noticed but I am sure she wouldn’t want it shared.

You can just say my mates got her pubes out.

Just edit them out, I dont think in any universe someone would want a photo posting with their pubes out.

C152 · 10/09/2024 13:45

Thank god I'm not on social media if this is the level of scrutiny people give to ordinary holiday snaps now.

OP, you're making a mountain out of a molehill. No need to agonise - just ask your friend is she wants the area photoshopped or not.

sweetpickle2 · 10/09/2024 13:43

Is it seriously 'pubes out' or is she just a bit hairier near where her bikini is? Some people are naturally hairy, or don't shave/wax, there is a world between that and having her fanny out.

If it's the former and you just personally don't like it then YABU.

BrieHugger · 10/09/2024 13:40

Babyworriesreal · 10/09/2024 13:33

Given your updates- just do it. It's not like you are shaving 2 stone off or giving her bigger boobs. She won't notice.

I’d love this

NiceCutRoundDomeDormice · 10/09/2024 13:40

stop making a drama out of a bit of pubic hair.

I’d copyright that if I were you. You could sell
it to Veet’s advertising department.

With respect, a lot of "social photographers" assume people take them more seriously than they actually do. Most people don't see it as an amazing opportunity for free professional photos. It's actually quite cringy when a self-proclaimed pro photog comes along and documents the entire trip.

Then they always send everyone a Google Drive Link with 50GB worth of images that takes ages to open and load up. Nobody genuinely cares which pictures get uploaded onto social media...it's not Facebook 2007. Everyone will skim the photos as fast as they can and pick out the few they feel are ok just to get the task done with. This is presumably what the friend did and didn't even notice the bikini issue. If it gets photoshopped, she won't remember the difference or bother comparing images.

Edited

All of this. I am not a 'social photographer', it's what I do, professionally. I cringe every time I encounter a group who've got a self-appointed official photographer. Most people are more than happy with some phone shots. They are on holiday. Not a photoshoot. The idea of putting a gallery together and now agonising over some escaped minge hair would not improve my holiday. Just leave the picture alone. She's already approved it.

rayofsunshine86 · 10/09/2024 13:36

If she's the kind of woman who grows her body hair, then leave it in. Otherwise edit it out. She probably wouldn't notice or not care.

statetrooperstacey · 10/09/2024 13:35

Coffeeandbannans · 10/09/2024 13:34

Just edit out her pubes. I think you're the only one who has looked so closely at the photo in all honesty so get on with it and stop making a drama out of a bit of pubic hair.

LBFseBrom · 10/09/2024 13:33

justforthispost1 · 10/09/2024 12:06

Something along those lines

Just ask her.
