I've heard her put on a weird voice and repeatedly say, 20+ times, Scooby Dooby Doo in said weird voice. Turned off and 10 minutes later went into a shop that had Radio 2 on and she was still doing it. FFS she's paid a fortune for that nonsense and we're paying through the licence fee.

I met her once, years ago and she was absolutely one of the loveliest, most down to earth, not up her own bum celebs I've met / encountered in close proximity.

ChishiyaBat · 09/09/2024 17:45

I've never been a fan, thank god I don't pay the license fee&don't have to listen to her!

Mnetcurious · 09/09/2024 17:44

I love her show! (Although that scooby doo thing sounds awful, not listened yet today). I couldn’t stand her in the ladette/radio one days but she’s mellowed and I find her really funny, and brilliant with the listeners who phone in - they can be very hit and miss but she handles them all so well and with gentle humour and warmth.

Seashor · 09/09/2024 17:42

Absolutely can’t stand her or Zoe Ball. I’d rather listen to nothing. Radio 1 in the morning, Greg James is fantastic and then Simon Mayo’s drive time on Greatest Hits. Why they let him go I’ll never know.

Like Vernon and his "sunshieien"!
Much prefer the breakfast show without Z Ball and think S Mills is far more suited to it than his afternoon slot. Wishing hard that she doesnt come back or I am back to being depressed by Today.

i’ve been pleasantly surprised with Scott on the morning show as well. Preferred him to other stand- ins.

I often wonder if people are listening to the same Sara Cox as me - I love her!

I also think she is fab. It’s a shame a northern accent is so grating for some people. If you don’t like the show don’t watch it. Why do you have to whinge about it.

Doggymummar · 09/09/2024 17:42

Where is Zoe ball? It's been some man for the past few weeks. He's very name droppy. Yesterday when I was with Rylan, dinner with Michael Ball tonight, are you seeing Kylie on Wednesday, shut up and play a song

LissaGa · 09/09/2024 17:41

I like her, and I like Zoe Ball and I like Vernon Kay. They are all a similar age to me and they all look brilliant and still know how to have fun. I really really miss Steve Wright though, nobody can ever replace him.

redtrain123 · 09/09/2024 17:40

I really like her. Always upbeat and enthusiastic.

OMG Zoe Ball does my head in ... calls herself Zo, she's only got a three lettered name ffs and says eerrrrrrr every other word, grrrr 😡

Even worse she calls herself “the Zo Bird”. It makes me fume. As does her phrase “tellybox”. Even typing that has raised my blood pressure.

I really like Sara Cox.

There's some presenters I'm not keen on. That's just how it works. Not everyone likes the same stuff. Why start s thread to tell everyone?

Bubb13Wrap · 09/09/2024 17:38

I think she’s great. Really look forward to her show.

FuckThePoPo · 09/09/2024 17:38

Plenty love her I know but not me I listen to lbc these days. Well apart from James 'did you know I've got a new book out' O'Brien

bringincrazyback · 09/09/2024 17:38

Yep. I constantly veer between quite enjoying her chatty presenting style and being on the verge of switching off because of the OTT silliness. I wish she'd dial it down a bit (well, quite a lot really).

Her voice does grate. Luckily I have other stations pre-set and an off button.

Whereabouts are you from? I’m curious if it’s mainly Southern people that may find her voice an irritation!

She's started to really, really grate on my nerves.

She’s been grating on my nerves for years!

Meerkat9 · 09/09/2024 17:33

I'm glad I don't pay for this shit

InSpainTheRain · 09/09/2024 17:33

I recommend Radio 4 😁
You're not wrong though OP, very jarring.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 09/09/2024 17:32

Listen to Bush and Ritchie on Absolute Radio. A choice of music and fun.

NotOnlyFedUpButAlso · 09/09/2024 17:30

BogRollBOGOF · 09/09/2024 17:17

I followed Ken. I have not regretted it.
The adverts annoy me less than Ball, Mills, Cox and Paige.

I just listen to Sounds of the 80s on Sounds from R2 now.

Me too. Actually don't really mind Cox and Ball (har de har) but the rest are awful, truly awful. Except Johnny Walker's sounds of the 70s, of course, and Tony Blackburn on Saturday mornings is fun! Otherwise its GHR on all day in the week.
