I’d buy a stone cottage in the Cotswolds with a natural swimming pond and a flat in Notting Hill for when i got bored.

I would rescue 3/4 dogs (would be a gradual process as my current dog shepherds away dogs I show affection to)

Buy siblings and parents a house.

And probably foster. My job would come in the form of investing in female education in my grandparents’ home country. And something to do with the elderly here.

I’m a homebody so apart from a first class trip to Sydney I probably wouldn’t live too much a jet setter lifestyle.

Buy a farm and never speak to anyone but my children again. Turn said farm into a rescue centre and animal sanctuary

Starlingexpress · 04/09/2024 19:52

Hand my notice in.
Buy a large bungalow beside the sea.
New cars.
Pay off kids student loans.
Employ a personal shopper and complete wardrobe revamp.
Cosmetic dentistry.
Holidays.
Pay off friends mortgages.
Donations to local cancer and animal charities.
Gifts for friends.

And then on the second day…. 😉

Cherrysoup · 04/09/2024 19:52

Resign. Pay off some family mortgages. Buy a decent size smallholding and rescue some ponies then get some hypnotherapy so I can get back on board. Give a lot to charity, notably Marie Curie. Breed a stunningly healthy litter of a vulnerable native English breed of dogs.

this is my favourite fantasy... i would retire, hubby would retire, buy a new house, a new car and probably a villa abroad, nothing too exotic or far away, just far enough for a 2 hour flight.

we would not tell anyone we had one, and we would try to live as normally as possible.

we would gift cash to family members, not millions, but may 50/100K.

we would buy each of the children a house within a certain budget and we would set up and trust fund for the children to give them say 3k a month in cash to spend as they wish.

that would be it! hubby and i would live well, the kids would be ok, but i refuse to put millions in their bank accounts to squander and waste and they would get everything once we were dead anyway.

i know i sound miserable.. but have given it a lot of thought. i know if i gave my kids tonnes of money, they would be no different to how they are now, if we gave his kids tonnes of money, we would never see them again until they had spent it and wanted more.

IDontHateRainbows · 04/09/2024 19:48

I'd develop a hobby-business where it didn't actually matter if I made a profit or not. Either jewelery making/ selling or a retro and vintage shop in a cool part of town.

I'd still want to be busy, but on my.own terms and not working for anyone else.

Blueybanditbingochilli · 04/09/2024 19:48

I would buy a beautiful house in the countryside just outside my favourite city. Not a mansion, more like a nice 5 bed (we have 2 kids and would love a home office) with half an acre garden. I would send both my kids to private schools, keep some back to help them buy a house, then give the rest away. I read about universal basic income in Kenya and how direct payments to people improve their lives far more than giving to charity, so that’s literally what I would do.

I would still work, likely 3 days a week if I was mortgage free, as not working and spending money all day would be a shit life plan and not good for my mental health.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 04/09/2024 19:47

I would set up my own charity and manage it myself. I have a very specific plan in my head, I won't set out my business plan here. It revolves around helping single mothers especially young mothers move into the workplace and becoming independent by combining a childcare model with online and in person education and upskilling.

ZekeZeke · 04/09/2024 19:46

No amount of money will fix my back, so I would spend a lot of it on drugs to stop the pain.
I'm on pain relief now but it's not working.
I'd go on a round the world trip, with my fsmily and any close friends that want to tag along. Explore every country with local experts but have a private chef to cater for my fussy dietary requirements, staying in really nice hotels.

I'd set up a scholarship for one pupil each year from my local town, this would cover college fees and rent provided they maintained their grades.

I'd hire a personal trainer, have my teeth done, boob lift and reduction,.

Bushmillsbabe · 04/09/2024 19:46

I would set up a charity to support children from low paid working families to help them acheive their full potential- paying school fees/uni fees/grants to set up own business/driving lessons - things to improve social mobility for hard working families.
I would give some money to our local elderly day care centre, and to the church to set up a youth club as there is nowhere for teenagers to go.

lairyfights9 · 04/09/2024 19:44

-buy a house and new car

  • put money aside for kids
  • buy 3 houses one for each child, but rent out at a low rate until they were old enough to need them.
  • give lots to family
  • give to charities
  • hire a personal trainer and chef
  • have cosmetic surgery to get rid of excess skin
  • hire a cleaner!
  • hire a personal shopper to completely design a wardrobe to my taste and sizing and have my clothes tailored to fit me perfectly (this one is particularly decadent but I would love not having to think about how things look and fit!!!)
  • go on lots of trips (especially seeing the northern lights at Christmas time, road trip in America, beach holiday)

Ah wouldn't it be grand

AlexandraJJ · 04/09/2024 19:39

A big win I’d emigrate to somewhere warm with glorious beaches

justmyluck1234 · 04/09/2024 19:36

A lovely home and a few holidays with my little ones.

Spaceracers · 04/09/2024 19:35

New big house.

Holidays.

Family and friends.

Charities.

Invest for a passive but hopefully ethical income.

I would continue to work part time but have a housekeeper and a regular part time nanny! Maybe to do after school a few times a week and once a week do a late shift where me and DH can go to nice restaurants!

LakieLady · 04/09/2024 19:35

I'm 69, so probably wouldn't have enough time left to spend it all on myself!

I'd buy a flat in a nice part of London and a house in Cornwall, plus a house for my step-DIL and grand-daughter, plus put a few mill in a trust fund to give them a reasonable income (stepson would get fuck all, because he's been an utter shit to them and practically everyone else, and he will inherit at least 1.5m from his mother, who's terminally ill).

I'd give my friend who's FT carer for her NT teenage son with additional MH problems enough to buy a decent home for them, so they can get out of the dreadful council estate that is driving them both slowly mad.

With the rest, I'd set up a charitable trust to fund welfare rights and housing advice in the county where I now live. I've worked in both those fields, and there is a real shortage of accessible advice and support for people who need help.

whyalltheusernames · 04/09/2024 19:32

Divorce my husband so i can live life peacefully with the kids.
Give loads away after buying property and having an amazing holiday.

coffeelateperson · 04/09/2024 19:28

I'd quite the job.
I'd bought a bigger house were I live
face surgery.
bought a mini cooper for myself and my husband
waky waky

Deipara · 04/09/2024 19:28

Give majority away to worthy charities
Set up friends and family for life
Buy my dream home and wardrobe
Spend the rest on travelling

Georgethecat1 · 04/09/2024 19:28

If it was a large crazy amount I would give a lot away. I always think just 250k to a lot of people would make their life so much easier. So I think about hiring lawyer and having NDAs signed / giving people money.

I would buy a bigger house but ask kit it out so it’s eco friendly. Not a mansion but enough room to have an office and a little gym with a private driveway / not be able see my neighbours. Oh and a Volvo xc60.

I would quit my job and enjoy growing veg / volunteering / running a baby class etc.

Alongthepineconetrail · 04/09/2024 19:27

I'd pay for a teaching assistant in each class at both my kids schools.

I'd buy the school a minibus each and donate an amount for a school family hardship fund.

I would pay the salary for a dedicated fundraiser to apply for grants and set up sustainable income streams for the school.

I'd also pay for a few curriculum administrators to complete teachers admin so that teachers can get on with actually teaching

I think they'd figure it out when you put a heliport on your roof

😂 I'm actually from a very impoverished background and by a mixture of luck and hard work I'm now very comfortable, I hide it quite well. Not heliport rich though, yet!

lairyfights9 · 04/09/2024 19:25

@MorrisZapp that made me 😂

elm26 · 04/09/2024 19:25

I would buy land where I currently live and build my dream home, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a toilet, a dressing room for DH and I, big open plan living room and kitchen, a snug with a real log fire place, a playroom, a lovely big garden with a heated pool, lots of flowers, bushes etc planted looking out across the hills.

I'd put some away for DD, help my parents out and buy a new car.

I'd buy a home in Lake Como looking out across the lake.

I'd open a rescue for animals, acres of land.

I'd donate to a few charities including cancer, children's hospitals and I'd and bucket list wishes for terminally ill children.

I'd spend the rest of my life volunteering at different places, homeless shelters, animal shelters, hospitals etc.

Would be a dream.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 04/09/2024 19:24

I'd set the kids and close family and friends up, move house, buy a new car, quit my job, travel and give a lot if not most of it way if we're talking obscene amounts of cash being won.

ncforcatquestion · 04/09/2024 19:20

Differentstarts · 04/09/2024 19:13

Awww bless ya if I win I will find you and buy you a house 💓

Thanks :)

dothehokeycokey · 04/09/2024 19:16

I'd buy. House each for my children.

I'd buy my sibling and her partner their own house.

I already rescue and foster dogs in my home so I would open a rescue centre

I'd also buy a property in a few different places inc outside of the uk that all the family can use when they like.

I'd spend my time looking after the rescue dogs and volunteering at local food banks etc

I own a business and although I love the creative side I hate the admin side so I'd pay someone full time to do all my business and venture admin as well as household admin
